Shoes will always make or break an outfit so today I’m sharing Summer 2024's top shoe trends that are worth knowing about.
So get excited about putting away your shearling slides and heavy Winter boots (until next season, of course) and swap in something a little more easy-breezy and on trend.
This summer's shoe trends are not about reinventing the wheel either, but more about playing on existing styles: the beloved flat got a minimalistic facelift, sneakers are taking on fun colors and silhouettes, and summer's go-to flip-flops are back with updated styles. Whether you're looking to add a new sandal to your wardrobe or interested in learning what styles are on the rise, I'm hoping you'll find something new to love in today's episode.

I live in Dallas, TX and cowboy boots are worn in spring and summer with sundresses to a Texas-style party, but I don’t see them worn every day

I live in Montana, and those who wear cowboy boots wear them everyday. You live in the big city, so maybe you don't see as many cowboys as I do. It's colder here as well, actually had snow a couple days ago in the higher elevations...

I’m in El Paso. I actually did wear my western boots today with a knee length denim skirt and a button down cotton short sleeve top. It was a hot day but I felt comfortable and confident while running errands.
Nope to heeled flip flop!
Those were so painful the first time around in the 90s and 00s. Never again.

Ditto. I have never liked flip flops. My bunion hangs over edge and I find them painful to walk in for to long.
😊Don't hate the kitten heeled flip flops, but I only wear these sandals🩴 as 🏠house/hotel🏨 slippers & 🏊♀️pool side or at beach 🏖.
Live in very hilly terrain of the Verdugo Mtns⛰️, so flip flops are NOT safe beyond my level walkways (esp. if I must make a quick getaway from 🦨wild critters🐍 of all kinds).
Rarely wear 'em when out & about greater 😎LA unless going from
🚘car to casual venue where I will be doing a lot of sitting. Blister too easily in these darn shoes in the heat. They quickly become a misery😂 for long walks.
Besides, it's better to wear shoes you can exit quickly when taking
🚍public transpo🚉. Sadly as a result of drug addiction & mental illness amongst our growing homeless population & other petty criminal activity (which our corrupt state govt refuses to address) nowadays you can run into some seriously 👤sketchy types👥️️ in our more metropolitan areas.

Flip flops are passable as an extremely casual down home comfort. Heels on flip flops gives pretentious and, well, lipstick on a pig. 😁 I'll take my oinker plain.
Yes cowboy boots are worn all year round in the southern states in the US. I just purchased a pair that I will be wearing this summer as well and I’m 50.

We are from PA. Cowboy boots are not as popular over here as in southern states, but still there are lots of people wearing them. My husband and I have quite a few and love them so much. We are in mid 40s

Here in Cave Creek Arizona cowboy boots are worn year round. 110° last week and the boots were out in town. Most people wear them with shorts or dresses. I prefer sandals in the summer. 👢🏜️🌵

Here in Texas they wear cowboy boots all year round. I just moved here and recently asked someone in a boot store how they wear them in the hot summer and she said "well... I guess I am always indoors in the AC" 😅 Your legs def get a lil sweaty! But they look amazing with skirts and pretty dresses

Yes!!!! I wear cowboy boots year around!!! I have white ones, off white with fake diamonds, gold, silver and red calf to knee high ones. Also ankle cowboy boots with fringes....love them!!! Do not like kitten heels or heeled flip flops as due to hip replacement, must wear flat or block heels no higher than 1.5 inches.....
I wear cowboy boots year round, pretty much every day. I have really dressy ones and work ones. I have worn them with shorts, dresses, skirts and jeans.
When I lived in Oklahoma- cut offs and cowboy boots were normal everyday wear in the summer , protection from snakes
Tucson, AZ here in the southwest of the USA. Cowboy boots will always be on trend here they are part of the culture and yes they are freakin darling with all summer outfits! That said, it definitely is more a trend for the younger generations wearing them with shorts ect. But if paired with say a long denim skirt or a more modest romper all can partake 😊
We just came back from Texas. There are defined lots of people wearing cowboy boots over there. Guys wear them with jeans, girls wear them with everything. And cowboy hat is a must of course.

In Tennessee cowboy boots are always worn ❤ they definitely do make you sweat though lol but to be fair there is no way not to sweat with our humidity
Cowboy boots are worn in my city in July. We have a big rodeo, exhibition and fair for 2 weeks. It’s the biggest rodeo, fair in the world. Everyone in the city gets their cowboy boots and cute jeans and rocks it.
It’s a party festival, rodeo, exhibits, entertainment, concert….. ❤

Uk here.. cowboy boots definitely a thing currently for the younger ones as party wear ( my beautiful goddaughter is in her twenties and has a fabulous pink metallic pair she wears with a short dress) .. i am contemplating digging my old ones out that i bought 12 years ago in LA.. i’m same age as you Leonie 😀
Been wearing heeled flip flops in all different colors and styles...for months. It's hot in Vegas and these shoes really do the trick in hot climates.❤
Heeled flip flops (we call them thongs 🩴 in Oz 😬) are a no go for me I’ll never keep them on, I have enough trouble with the basic havianas, same as any kind of slide (except the always comfy Birkenstocks)… I just walk right out of them! I do love the look but they would have to be firmly strapped on which would just ruin the look 😏…sling back kitten heels r very chic but I prefer the square toe, the pointy ones can look cheap…🧐😉😍

A native Texan, here. It is not unusual to see cowboy boots being worn year round. Even in large cosmopolitan cities. They are worn with casual or dressy outfits.
😊Yes, I live in a rural equestrian suburb of 😎LA. We actually have deep country roots embedded here. Cowboy boots are quite common during the day & for 🐎horseback riding🤠 year round locally.
More "city" folk are buying up our mtn properties here🏘 bcos of our proximity to DTLA & Hollywood, but they have little respect for the lifestyle or our history. They make a stink about our community's varied livestock's natural odors👃 when it ☀️heats up😂.
Going further a field, in LA you'll see plenty of men & women dressed up in their Western gear👢for Country Music 🎶 Concerts & Dancing all over Greater Los Angeles.
Some sweet 20somethings wear cowboy boots for fashion fun too, but you won't see much in the truly trendy areas.
😘All that having been said, I prefer low cowboy ankle booties❤.The tall ones are too hot & uncomfortable🥵 for me here. 😬Finding knee boots that fit my shorter lower legs & bulging calf muscles from all my hiking is too tricky🤣.

As much as I love fashion, my need for comfort supersedes all else😆 My lifestyle is too active for cutesy shoes. I have tons of different colors and styles of sneakers to pair with any kind of outfit;)

The MOST COMFORTABLE shoes or boots I own - I went hiking in them! Are my Ariat heritage r toe cowboy boots in black deer tan (which is soft but thick). Most cowboy boots are ok for riding and leather soled are used for dancing but most fit a bit like clogs. The Ariats were made with rubber soles and so are a bit cushiony.
In North Carolina, I love wearing cowboy boots with skirts and dresses all summer long!!

I live in the states and yes on the western boots. I have as many western boots as I do sneakers and that is saying something!🤣🤣 I wear all year long with jeans and dresses. Not shorts or short skirts though.I even have work boots because I don't want to ruin my good ones! I love a good leather cage sandal. They are a classic. The heeled Mary Janes with the two/three straps are so so cute . I would pair with a super slim pant. In my everyday I will take a boot or colorful sneaker. Thanks Leoni!!
Cowboy boots yes for sure at all the concerts and festivals in the USA and Europe. In cooler climates like Ireland and Scandinavia boots in summer like Docs, wellies, are also very popular and practical fashionable or not. Love your videos.
Love your Vids very well presented Thank You. back in the 80's wearing boots was phrased "summer boots" I love that "summer of boots" mine were green bought in Puerto Banus. This summer I purchased a very light in leather and light in colour to the knee suede summer cowboy pair and have gotten compliments and likes, today I am having delivered a bottle green with red and orange stitching so excited for their arrival and have plans to be wearing them in the fall.
Cowboy boots also offer a great buffer against mosquito bites 😉

Yes they are. But they are also having a 2024 right on trend moment. I personally love it and the fact that it can be worn at any age..The kitten heel flip flop is comfortable, stylish and currently on trend.
I’m a Texas native-but way more Fort Worth than Dallas. Cowboy boots are absolutely worn year round. They are basic for guys and an option for gals.
I now live in Minnesota and those who wear them still wear them year round.
For me, walkable is everything….looking stylish and sophisticated at 73 when I arrive at my destination without having to carry shoes to change into. Average 5 miles a day, keeps me fit and healthy so bring on the shoes that fit this bill. I have a few pair that work but it takes a lot of trial and error to find. Any suggestions…
Don't go for Sambas... They are very narrow and notoriously uncomfortable. Gazelles are wider, if you like Adidas. For comfort, Nike air are better ( I have some funky white ones, with metallic trim). I have grown up with bunions, so I feel you. 😁 I'm 63 next week.
I live in Tucson Arizona and I wore a pair of cowboy boots just last week w a white eyelet dress.. it looked really cute . I wasn't overly hot .
I just pulled our a pair of Prada heeled sandals to wear with an outfit, I bought them in Las Vegas 18 years ago! I wouldn’t wear them daily but for a fun change I’m glad I still have them. Cowboy boots are worn in summer, but usually just for concerts or fairs. Too hot to wear them daily here in Northern California.
I finally donated my Prada heeled sandals. They were not comfortable and made a lot of noise when Inwalked

Living in Florida, those gladiator sandals are always in. Those are classics down here because our feet could use every bit of air they can get at all times! 😅 The crochet flats look interesting. Might give them a try.

I wear cowboy boots this summer and everyone I come in contact with loves them, and by the way I’m 63 years old.
I found a fab pair of blunt toe Mary Jane shoes in red and I love pairing them with denim tops and with skirts of any length.
Caged sandals are also called Fisherman’s. They’re a literal classic and have been around forever. They’ve just come back around as a trend

I’m 61 and live in Australia. I love wearing my short Ariat cowboy boots with dresses in summer. I get lots of compliments and while I still have great legs, I’m gonna keep rock’n them. They’re also really comfortable and give me a bit of height without hurting my back.💃

Heeled flip flops kill me in between the toe. I have had a pair for four years now but have to have a bandaid in both of those spots before I put them on.
West Coast American checking in: yes, we wear cowboy boots year round but considering the current heat wave I don't see how. But I can see a lower profile boot in similar style if cowboy just less of the portion that goes up the leg. We like them during festival season mostly spring, fall and winter.
I just got an email from Vans about their burgundy Mary Janes. While, I would love to but I don't think they're for summer but definitely for Fall/Winter.
We wear them to summer concerts and country concerts, even tribute band concerts, if it’s not too hot, definitely to bars if they have live music 🎵 on Friday nights or Saturday nights. They have the air condition cranking and it’s chilly indoors. We wear them with floral dresses 👗 long or short and jean vests or jackets 🧥 . We don’t pair cowboy 🤠 boots 👢 and cowboy 🤠 hats 👒 together- too costumy, so we do one or the other! - Amy

Hi Leonie, I'm now 64. I remember when I was touring Europe in 1980, that I did in fact wear cowboy boots and shorts, haha! I think it may have been a bit of a fancy dress night that our tour group was doing.

I bought two expensive pairs of cowboy boots last summer. I’m really into footwear in general and I must say they are beautiful boots. I knew after Beyoncé dropped her country album that they’d definitely be in style for summer 2024.

I think cowboy boots are for USA girls. I live in the UK and the weather is terrible in the summer. I am wearing biker boots with midi and maxi skirts and dresses and that works on autumnal summer days.

I live in High Desert Oregon full of equestrian ranches. Cowboy boots are an all year round staple here. Frankly, even if it were not a staple here, I would be wearing them. They are a part of my personality and are my super power❤❤❤

For me it’s a NO to gladiator sandals in the past and still no today. In contrast, slingbacks - high heel and kitten heel- have never left my feet. Love em, especially because I have a narrow heel and they fit better than pumps/court shoes.

Heeled flip flops are just a type of minimalist sandals with the thin leather strap configuration between the toes. I don’t think of them in the same way as beach or pool flip flops.

I work with horses and wear English riding boots in the summer(won't work the horses if its too hot of course) and tend to get heat rash so I have to be really careful so I do wonder if that is the case with Western boots?
