Im a mechanic and own a 2021 limited hybrid. This hybrid has plenty of get up and go. The all wheel drive is amazing. And mpg is accurate. 3rd is good for a 5”7 person. Any taller will be tight. Over all this suv is top of the line with competition.
The Platinum is AMAZING all around, very sporty and elegant, captain's chairs in second row, panoramic moonroof, quiet ride...it fits us so well on all the road trips we do, golfing and cycling, handles NW weather great, we went with the Hybrid and absolutely love how it drives, we decided we'd rather keep our money versus donating it to Chevron for a 1 second difference in acceleration, the true choice for us was this or the 4Runner and not a Hyundai, KIA or Subaru, we don't do enough off-road to justify the price difference and fuel costs, but if you tow stuff I get it, anyways love ours!
I don’t understand the complaints about the third row. A larger third row will cause the vehicle to be too long for urban parking. Shorter vehicles are easier to drive in heavy traffic. The buyer(s) will most likely be riding in the front seats. The third row has plenty of room for healthy adults.
I just purchased a 2021 Highlander Hybrid and have the same issue as the Rav4. The tank is 17.1 gallons and will only take between 12 to 13.6 gallons when the fuel indicator light turns on. If driving range is one of the reasons you are purchasing this vehicle then beware! On a good run I can go about 475 miles before refueling with an mpg average of 35 to 36.
How do you find the acceleration? I just put a deposit on a 2022 Highlander Hybrid, but of course nothing to test drive. I’m trading in a 2019 Highlander Hybrid that has 75k mileage.
I think anyone who’s looking for an SUV this size with AWD and good cargo space and or seating will appreciate the mileage enough not to let the ‘sport drive’, top speeds or 0-to-60 bother them too much. Great vehicle!
I like that feature too, but to be honest, I have only needed to only open the rear glass window a handful of times in the 3 years of owning the Highlander. Still a nice feature to have whether you need it or not. 👍
For the people who are 5' 11" and above will feel uncomfortable seat position if they do long drive Toyota on this model Toyota should think to add thigh support option on driver seat like German's in their coming updates also their seats are stiff than their 2000 models Why?
I don't get the "if you want fun or sporty, look somewhere else" comment. I own one of these things and it is plenty sporty, especially off the line around town. It def drives more like a sedan, meaning it takes the corners well and doesn't roll all over the place. Doesn't that equate to a sportier feel? It has some great torque off the line from those multiple electric motors. I guess the suspension could be a bit more "rugged" but it takes the bumps pretty well also. I think most assume this won't be fast because of horsepower vs competitors, but it is plenty fast for most. He's also wrong about backseat. I can fit back there as a 6'2" adult and have 2 inches of clearance for knees with 2nd row seat in normal position.
I've just test driven the 2021 gas version and it stll accelerates well (I have a 2014 Toyota Highlander V6) but it also still has a lot of torque steer. Tires have become narrower (235mm wide) compared to my 2014 Toyota Highlander (245mm wide)
I owned a 2018 SE. I would say its off road capabilities are limited to dirt roads. If you wanted to do more you would properly brake something. It is really a 4wd car. The engine is in sideways like a FWD car and there are no skid plates. I'm not mocking the Highlander, we really loved ours. the SE was loaded with features and road quite and comfortable. It had the rear captions chairs which our kids loved. It is a nice car, not a truck.
My bro just picked up the ascent. The third row is infinitely better but I prefer the Toyota drive system. Third row on the ascent is functional even for average sized adults but the most immediately blatant downside is the noise.
@@golferpro1241 Export to Africa and Asia. Easy to sell. Toyota Highlander, Lexus Rx, Nx, IS, ES, LX, GS, Ford Truck, these are popular cars to sell over there. I lost my Lexus Rx 2020 3 months ago and found it back where it was ready to ship out.
Very disappointed after test driving this vehicle. Ride was jittery and nervous. Interior materials felt cheap and the ergonomics were awful. And interior noise levels were high. Too many minuses for me for a vehicle over $50k. I chose a Mercedes Benz GLS instead and couldn't be happier.
Thank you, great job. Do you think they would remove the 3rd row for me at the dealers? I rarely have more than one passenger, but a ton of gear and other stuff to carry. Thanks for any replies.
@@MrSupernova111 The folded space They Take up under the floor would be a heck of a lot of gear space. The battery pack isn't under there anymore either so you wouldn't lose anything. If they offered the option, I think I'd probably do the same
Depends if you want a car or a truck. We had a 2018 Highlander SE and now have a 2021 4runner limited. Loved the highlander and almost got the 2021 XSE. We now need to tow a boat and want drive on the beaches on cape cod. Very happy with the 4runner.

Yeah, for a big family hauler I kind of expect 600 miles for plenty of flexibility when refilling on road trips.

Someone's been playing red dead redemption 2
According Toyota website it has 3 electric motors not 2. 2 in front axle and 1 motor powers rear axle
Why did they eliminate the rear window from opening? That was a great feature on my 2018.

You should go with one of the highlander models
