She was once had an invitation to an audience with Queen Elizabeth II through her connection with Princess Margaret. When she came to the palace, she was wearing one of the tiaras she just bought. Knowing that she was not royal either by marriage or birth. The queen asked her page to have her remove the tiara before she meet her. I think it was very funny when I first heard it.

Imelda Marcos and her husband defined to a generation the meaning of the word ‘Excessive’. The jewels, the gold bricks (not bars, but bricks), her wardrobe and her shoes are in their entirety, obscene. What was seized, I’m sure, was just a fraction of the true wealth the Marcos’ managed to smuggle into their exile. Maybe one day we will know the whole truth, but i doubt it. I wouldn’t be surprised to discover other riches which were supposed to be secreted away from the Philippines, but were instead kept by the persons who were supposed to be part of the conspiracy. I mean, who was Imelda supposed to complain to?

Actually, they should start on the PAINTINGS cause just 1piece of Imelda's painting cost 5x more by all her jewelry collection with pieces by well-known artists such as Michelangelo, Picasso, Monet, Van Gogh and etc. There are hundreds or maybe 300+ diff paintings from her and more than a hundred had just been seized.

I saw in you tube recently about a video where Imelda was discussing how they hasten to pack their belongings when they fled Malacanang Palace. Imelda mentioned about a 70 carats diamond she hasten to put inside a pamper container. When I read the book "Imelda The Untold Story " written by Carmen Navarro Pedrosa in the 1990's she mentioned that on the wedding of Irene Araneta she wore a diamond called Idol's Eye diamond found in India worth $5 million at that time.. When I research this diamond sure enough it is 70.21carats and on my research I found out that Imelda indeed was one of the previous owners. Qatar royal family is presumed the current owner but other sources says the current whereabouts is unknown. It is a very light blue diamond VVS1 in clarity and the largest cut blue diamond in the world.

I am not really impressed with most of the collection. Most of the diamonds are poorly cut and gives little sparkle. Plenty are rose cuts. I am really awed that she was able to purchase the Russian pearl tiara. That was the original Russian pearl tiara and the most expensive pearl tiara in the world along with the British Vladimir tiara. Russia made a replica of this tiara which is shown in this video at time 3:15 and 3:33. The pearls are more round. It is now on display at Kremlin. The original which Imelda own is shown in time 3:27 shown in black and white background. . Most of the pearl are more elongated. The original and the replica was shown in this video. The sapphire necklace and the marquis diamond bracelet are impressive.

The queen was informed and requested imelda to remove her tiara for this particular dinner is a intimate one and not a formal state banquet (the queen herself didn't wear a tiara). They said she won't be getting inside unless she remove it on top of her head. What Imelda do so she can be on that dinner (w/ her jewelries) was she removed her tiara on top of her head, flip it upside down (?) and put it at the back of her head (like an accent headpiece at the back of her head) (i think her tiara must've been those versatile ones with a removable frame)

I wonder if the current president liquidated some, if not all these to benefit the people of the Philippines. The money was meant for the people & the Marcos' took advantage of their position for self enrichment. It just shows you how power can corrupt people at the expense of others in need.

President Aquino was honest and fair President. Saddam Hussein, Muhammed Khadaffi, the King of Morocco, King of Saudi Arabia and Anwar Sadat were a few of her admirers who gifted her with jewelleries as a token of goodwill being the country's First Lady, ambassador-at-large and official representative of the President of the Philippines.
