Everyone knows history!! But first define what is Kashmir. Do not define Kashmir at your convenience of a few historical events. Kashmir is older than the 1846 agreement. Muzammil Thakur is naming so many victims, but never mentioned a single incident of the atrocities committed on Hindus and thousands of Hindu Pandits who were thrown out of their homeland. Isn't it his duty to fight the injustice committed to Hindu Pandits.
sure every single unjust death should be condemned but do they justify the genocide being committed by the Indian state of a people who had nothing to do with it
@SalikBhat-m9q 300000 Hindu Kashmiri pandits were cleansed from the valley in a single day using Muslim loudspeakers: www.hinduamerican.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/HAF_16_Kashmir_V4.pdf Where do you get 250 from? History repeated itself in Bangladesh, Hindus have been tortured and killed. If you pray for Syria and Gaza, why don't you pray for Bangladeshi Hindus or Kashmiri pandits? Do you only pray for your community and hate every other community? Syria was full of Christians before Muslim invasion. Kashmir and Bangladesh were full of Hindus before Muslim invasion. Jews also had their holy center in Jerusalem before Muslim invasion and now Jews don't have any place in the world other than Israel. Muslim invaders also destroyed the Buddhist and Jain statues in India (and Pakistan) by literally cutting the head off because they don't believe in idol worship. Why does European Muslim scholars talk about increasing birth rates?: x.com/mohammed_hijab/status/1876586543743480308?prefetchTimestamp=1736454090354&mx=2 Why is it always Muslims vs everyone else? When you talk about Kashmir, why don't you talk about Leh Ladakh which is Buddhist majority and Jammu which is Hindu majority, both of them want to stay with India. When you talk about UN resolution, why don't you argue that Pakistan had to remove its army first, they never did it. The first condition was violated by Pakistan and that is why plebiscite couldn't happen. When you talk about Khalistan, why don't you talk about Punjab province in Pakistan? Basically, why is there a bias when it comes to injustice?
They are asking to rewrite the history of Kashmir because its demography has changed-just like what has been done in Pakistan or Bangladesh. Those who are crying for the independence of Kashmir must understand that just because one major community is no longer interested in democracy, it does not give them the right to establish an Islamic state. People must realize that there is a Hindu community in Kashmir too. The Hindus were not killed by the army because they didn’t host terrorists in their homes or because they didn’t support the agenda of an Islamic state in Kashmir. They were killed by those who now pose as victims. Kashmir belongs to them too, and they have every right to protect their history. They don’t want to read in their textbooks that Muhammad bin Qasim or any other invader was their ancestor or the first citizen of Kashmir. And if anyone wants to know why we shed tears for Kashmiri Hindus, it’s because our bond with them is far greater and more natural than the one some people share with distant Middle Eastern terrorists.

Let’s set the record straight: 1. Allegations Without Evidence: India has been subjected to a barrage of allegations concerning Kashmir, ranging from Kushanposhpora to fabricated tales of torture camps. Yet, these accusations often evaporate under scrutiny, relying on anecdotal claims without substantiation. Justice demands evidence, not politically motivated fiction. One cannot ignore how such narratives are weaponized in Pakistan's information warfare-a nation that consistently ranks among the world's worst in press freedom and transparency. A house built on propaganda cannot withstand the winds of truth. 2. Kashmir’s Rich History Predating the Mughals: The history of Kashmir did not dawn with the arrival of the Mughals; it shines as a cradle of Indic civilisation. The region hosted the Fourth Buddhist Council under Emperor Kanishka, cementing its role as a bastion of Buddhist thought. It is home to Shaivism's profound philosophical texts, like the Spanda-Karikas, and ancient Hindu sites like the Martand Sun Temple. The contribution of Kashmir to Sanskrit literature, including Kalhana’s Rajatarangini, is unparalleled. These echoes of history resound with the voices of all Indic faiths-Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, and later Sikhism-testament to its profound pluralistic legacy. 3. Pakistan’s “Bleeding India with a Thousand Cuts” Policy: The instability in Kashmir is not organic but orchestrated. Pakistan, in its own words, has sought to "bleed India with a thousand cuts," using Kashmir as a pawn in its geopolitical games. From arming and training insurgents to promoting cross-border terrorism, Pakistan has invested in chaos, not peace. This strategy has not only bled India but also hemorrhaged Pakistan’s own credibility, with international organizations openly condemning its role in fostering terrorism. 4. Kashmiri Pandits and the Overlooked Ethnic Cleansing: The selective narrative surrounding Kashmir conveniently omits the ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri Pandits in the 1990s-a modern-day tragedy of forced exodus, systematic violence, and stolen heritage. Homes were seized, assets appropriated, and a community annihilated in their homeland. Those who claim to fight for justice in Kashmir must first address this glaring atrocity, perpetrated not by foreign invaders but by neighbours turned oppressors. Silence here speaks volumes of selective morality. 5. The UNSC Resolution Misinterpretation: The oft-parroted UNSC resolution on Kashmir was advisory, requiring Pakistan to withdraw its forces before any plebiscite could be considered. Pakistan never adhered to this precondition, thereby invalidating the resolution's applicability. Blaming India for Pakistan's failure to uphold international commitments is not just dishonest but absurd. Moreover, invoking this decades-old resolution today, in a radically different geopolitical and demographic reality, is an exercise in anachronistic fantasy. 6. Progress in Kashmir: Recent years have witnessed transformative progress in Kashmir. Infrastructure development, rising literacy rates, and new political voices like Afzal Guru’s brother joining the mainstream signal a brighter future. Attempts to re-ignite divisive narratives are not only devious but also an affront to the aspirations of a flourishing populace. The people of Kashmir deserve peace and progress, not perpetual exploitation for vested interests. 7. Ladakh Is Not Kashmir: A brief geography lesson is in order: Ladakh was never part of Kashmir, and its people share distinct ethnic, cultural, and linguistic identities. Kashmir is not a monolith, and conflating its diverse groups erases the voices of many, including the Gujjars, Bakarwals, and Ladakhis. Secular India celebrates this diversity, giving representation to all. Contrast this with Pakistan’s abysmal track record-shrinking minorities, economic desperation, and a failed state narrative that serves as a cautionary tale for the world.

In May 2009, the abduction, r@p£ and murd£r of two young girl$, Neelofar (27th January) and her sister-in-law Asiya (17th January) in Shopian, was initially declared as 'de@th due to drowning in a stream that was less than 3 feet deep. After month-long statewide protests, enquiry commission declared that both were gang-r@p£d, t0rtur£d and murd£r£d. According to Indian constitution the army must be suspended and imprisoned. But No one has ever been convicted of these cr1mes. Another extremely painful case took place in Kathua, Jammu (February 2018), when a young g1rl of 8 years, Asifa Bano, was abduct£d, t0rtur£d, $£dated, gang r@p£d, and then brut@lly k1ll£d by 7 Army men in a Hindu Mandir. Her t0rn off b0dy was found in a nearby jungle. These are Just a few examples of Indian civilization's tight embrace of inn0cent kashmiri civilians. There are thousands of inhumane cases carried by brut@l Indian Army. In one well-publicized case, in May 1990 a young bride, Mubina Gani, was d£tained and r@p£d by BSF soldiers while she was traveling from the wedding to her husband's home. Her aunt was also r@p£d. The security forces had also f1red on the party, k1lling one man and wounding several others. In July 1990, police in Sopore registered a case against the BSF for the r@p£ of Hasina, a 24-year-old woman from Jamın Qadeem, on June 26, 1990. According to doctors at the Subdistrict Hospital in Sopore, the BSF had entered the neighborhood at about 11.00 pm. after an exchange of cross-fire had taken place between their forces and some militant groups. The BSF had then conducted a search of the neighborhood The doctors stated that when Hasina was brought to the hospital she had v@ginal bl££ding. The medical superintendent's report also recorded bite marks on her face and br£@sts and scratches on her face, chest and legs, and injuries to her g£nital area. Those who have attempted to document incidents of r@p£ have also been abus£d by Indian security forces. In November 1990, Dr. K., a surgeon at the Anantnag District Hospital, was arrested after he had made arrangements for a gynecologist to examine seven women who had alleged that they had been r@p£d by security forces. There are thousands of brut@lities did by indian army like this which shake and tremble the humanity !
As a kashmir it is all true We kashmiris have suffered so much Now people are silent because of the military force and how cruel they can be Despite these hardships, indian people got the government jobs , local jobs of kashmiris but we still managed to stand on our knees and the poverty rate is very low as compared to other states of india Our land, resources, jobs, opportunities is all gone As a student i see no future of myself in kashmir I remembered those days when a person would step outside of his house ,there was barely a chance for him to be alive When we used to call someone we used to avoid these type talks thinking that the modi govt would listen and put us into the jail The internet was blocked for several months Men were banned to go to mosque
Kashmir was legally given to India during the India Pakistan partition. Pakistan then invaded the region and India defended its land that it LEGALLY owns. I have actually been to the region and have spoken to the people there. Many have said the abrogation of article 370 was a good thing as now Kashmir is economically better and the security of the region has gone up tremendously. Srinagar, once a hub for terrorists, is now thriving thanks to the Indian government.
I live in indian occupied kashmir and i must say that whathe said is absolutely true.actualky what he is said is the just like a drop from ocean ..we kashmiris all remember the incidents of 2008,2010,2016 and 2019...we have suffered even basic communication facalities like calling ,internet etc during these periods..can u indians imagine a life without no phone calls ,no internet from 2 years and then again for 1 year and then again for 2 years...we have suffered soo much pain that every kashmiri knows he is speaking truth...we dont niether want to be the part of pakistan nor be yours..we want our right to choose ...choose to be independent. ..even if the kashmir will be a battle ground land like gaza but an independent land, we will be happpy and satisfied that we are independent. ..as living in kashmir ,it needs soo much guts to write your thoughts like this bcz u dont have the freedom to fully express freely..
I appraise u showing the courage. As a Pakistani I also believe that Kashmiris must have a right of self determination, and what ever Kashmiris deside should be facilitated. My mother is also Kashmiri from muzafrabad. My grandmother family was separated . Kashmiris in iok have suffered enough. May Kashmiri peps prosper
The guy literally has "Thakur" as his surname . Indians can obviously guess his roots . But yeah people not only change religion under pressure but also submit their brain !
That surename traces back to Kashmir nearly two centuries ago during a Hindu Rajput dynasty that ruled there. I highly doubt there was pressure to convert to Islam during Hindu rule. One of his ancestors, most likely, chose to do so freely. Also his roots could easily be Kashmiri since converts intermarried with Kashmiris.
@TeresaGill86 yes why not , everybody converts to Islam freely . Infact the women in Afghanistan are most likely living a life of animals with their own will . Right ? 😊
You're not a native Kashmiri, they were massacred and were forced to flee their land, and now you sit there boasting that the land is yours HAHA SO HYPOCRITICAL
In short by his logic kashmir is muslim majority so it should not be india. When yoh don't know your region's history and try to put it in religious line. Srinagar itself is a hindi word and kashmir is of kashyap rishi. And you are saying that you are not native of indian subcontinent !!! Then kindly think about 200 million muslims of india. Should we return them to you also???
It's not his logic that kashmir is muslim majority it should not be with India. It's the ideology of Pakistan and congress. Open google and do some research on revolt in j&k.And muzammil thakur is a kashmiri his father was from kashmir shopian a nuclear scientist and also a lecturer of physics. So clear your mind first.

Why did Kashmiris physically tortured and killed their Hindu brothers back in 1990? That is the definition of fanaticism. Defending a country's sovereignty is not fanaticism. Only the separatists and their supporters are psychologically tortured. Look at Muslims in Gujarat, they are now living in harmony and are one of the most successful business communities in India. Jammu and Kashmir was a seperate country but later illegally occupied by India, Pakistan and China. It should again become an Independent country...we all Kashmiris want independence from both India and Pakistan that is the only solution....
Just bunch traitors making their own history who invaded kashmir first who started massacre over there it was Pakistan the king of kashmir asked india to help and the signed to be part of india why manipulating the facts if you have so many problems why don't you leave kashmir go to any muslim country.

Kashmir is named after Rishi Kashyap and not after any prophet and was given to Muslims in 1947 in the name of Pakistan religion. This Kashmir belongs to Kashmiris, Hindus (Buddhists, Jains, Sikhs) and Indian citizens.
@r.1805en how does belong to Indian citizen as it should belong to people living in the state . We don't care how Kashmir was named Kashmir. As we are not talking about to seperate it because of religion it's because of our will . We never wanted to be with any country like pak or ind . And people belong to it like pandits , sikhs will live in the independent as they belong to it .

Don't be afraid of anything except Allah.
One of the biggest arguments is that Kashmir belonged to Hindus, Raja Hari Singh wanted it to be a part of India so anything a muslim says after their ancestors commited genocides after genocides against the native people wipes away any credibility that he may have. Kashmir was, is and will be a part of India. No, Historically Kashmir's been an integral part of India. Rishi Kashyap was from Kashmir hence it got its name. Kashmir was named after Rishi Kashyap. I must also add that famous literatures like Panchatantra and many other literatures that pre-dates Islam itself were composed on the sacred land of Kashmir. He is talking about all the atrocities happening but why doesn't he talk about the atrocities done by his people onto mine, IN MY COUNTRY. 19th January 1990. Where the speakers in the mosque spewed poison-like hatred. And while he's able to name a few and are still being actively hunted and killed. Also, "Yasin Malik" was directly responsible for the genocide the one that calls "legitimate governance". The Indian Freedom struggle and Kashmiri "Freedom Struggle" are two completely different things. And students like Burhan Wani? Just look up what he did.
Hats off to a Kashmiri speaker. It’s an awakening call to civilised world to condemn illegal Indian occupation and atrocities committed by Indian occupation army in Kashmir

@jancyvargheese5351 Sure. If nomenclature defined national boundaries, "Britannia" or Great Britain would still be a part of the Roman Empire. Thankfully, you don't see Italians claiming Britain.
@@silvergrill1800 except Roman Empire came from Italy, which is hundreds of miles away, while Kashmir sits within the historical Indian borders, and they have Indian genetics, language, culture, etc. then how is it not indian? The argument to free kashmir from India is simply because it’s a muslim majority since 1400s. Before that, it was hindu majority. That doesn’t mean it gets to become an independent country.
@jancyvargheese5351 If you study History, you'll see that the Roman Empire once stretched to Britannia, so borders change. And even if you're true about proximity, what's next? Nepal is India? Bangladesh is India? Sri Lanka is India? It is ultimately the will of the people affected by a Nation State that must prevail. Call Kashmir geographically a part of the Indian subcontinent all you want, but calling it a part of the Nation State of India that was founded in 1947 without the will of the Kashmiris is plain old colonialism.
Commenting is the only way to show support, as a Kashmiri. Thanks a lot Dr. Muzammil. We can't thank you enough. We've not forgotten anything. @@UchhihaMadaraNo. The historical evidences of Jammu is actually very ancient. It was a hindu place and later people were drastically changed through conquests. If you're talking about fairness, it should've existed beforehand but it didn't in mediaeval or ancient times. So today the most relevant cultural ties to country should own the state and that country is India regardless of populace background there. Mind you if you want to talk about, "what about kashmir people's decisions choosing governance similar to their cultural background" then I would say it wouldn't apply to kashmir because it's already a land of cultural colonization. The matter of democracy is valid only when a foreign entity captures land and in this case India isn't a foreign entity rather the public people of Kashmir are. Kashmir people can freely move to pakistan where they can put same demands or possibly live there where the culture is almost similar.

Everyone knows history!! But first define what is Kashmir. Do not define Kashmir at your convenience of a few historical events. Kashmir is older than the 1846 agreement. Syria was full of Christians before Muslim invasion.
Kashmir and Bangladesh were full of Hindus before Muslim invasion.

Muslim invaders also destroyed the Buddhist and Jain statues in India (and Pakistan) by literally cutting the head off because they don't believe in idol worship.

Let’s set the record straight:
1. Allegations Without Evidence:
India has been subjected to a barrage of allegations concerning Kashmir, ranging from Kushanposhpora to fabricated tales of torture camps.
2. Kashmir’s Rich History Predating the Mughals:
The history of Kashmir did not dawn with the arrival of the Mughals; it shines as a cradle of Indic civilisation.
3. Pakistan’s “Bleeding India with a Thousand Cuts” Policy:
The instability in Kashmir is not organic but orchestrated.
4. Kashmiri Pandits and the Overlooked Ethnic Cleansing:
The selective narrative surrounding Kashmir conveniently omits the ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri Pandits in the 1990s-a modern-day tragedy of forced exodus, systematic violence, and stolen heritage. Homes were seized, assets appropriated, and a community annihilated in their homeland. Those who claim to fight for justice in Kashmir must first address this glaring atrocity, perpetrated not by foreign invaders but by neighbours turned oppressors. Silence here speaks volumes of selective morality.
5. The UNSC Resolution Misinterpretation:
The oft-parroted UNSC resolution on Kashmir was advisory, requiring Pakistan to withdraw its forces before any plebiscite could be considered.
6. Progress in Kashmir:
Recent years have witnessed transformative progress in Kashmir.
7. Ladakh Is Not Kashmir:
A brief geography lesson is in order: Ladakh was never part of Kashmir, and its people share distinct ethnic, cultural, and linguistic identities.

2. Kashmir’s Rich History Predating the Mughals:
The history of Kashmir did not dawn with the arrival of the Mughals; it shines as a cradle of Indic civilisation.
3. Pakistan’s “Bleeding India with a Thousand Cuts” Policy:
The instability in Kashmir is not organic but orchestrated.
6. Progress in Kashmir:
Recent years have witnessed transformative progress in Kashmir.
7. Ladakh Is Not Kashmir:
A brief geography lesson is in order: Ladakh was never part of Kashmir, and its people share distinct ethnic, cultural, and linguistic identities.

On February 23rd, 1991, twin villages of Kunan & Poshpora in Kupwara District were c0rdoned off by 4th Rajputana Rifles, who, under cover of search operations r@p£d every single g1rl and wom@n. The youngest victim was just 13 years of age, and the oldest was 60. The total number of r@p£ victims was around 100.
Many of these women have d1ed during the last 30 years, and others are still waiting for justice to be served. The US Department of State, in its 1991 Annual Human Rights report, confirmed the incident, and so did the New York Times. Unfortunately, no formal police investigation ever took place about this heinous cr1me against humanity.
A young scholar from Srinagar, Natasha Rathore along with five other women had written the book, "Do You Remember Kunan Poshpora".

Kashmir was legally given to India during the India Pakistan partition. Pakistan then invaded the region and India defended its land that it LEGALLY owns. Many have said the abrogation of article 370 was a good thing as now Kashmir is economically better and the security of the region has gone up tremendously. 8:50 - So, don't tell me what the reality inside Kashmir is!!
True af!!
Inshallah kashmir will rise again ❤

Hats off to a Kashmiri speaker. It’s an awakening call to civilised world to condemn illegal Indian occupation and atrocities committed by Indian occupation army in Kashmir
As a Kashmiri , i have been very happy to see that there is someone who is talking about Kashmir. As a kasmiri my opinion is that in the region of Kashmir including Azad Kashmir as well as India Occupied Kashmir elections should be held whether people want to join India or Pakistan, or they want Kashmir to be an independent nation.
Radical Islamist should go back to Pakistan Kashmir is integral part of India that solve we never allow another muslim country because it's not good for minority non muslim there
as a kashmiri, i testify to all this being completely true

As a kashmiri, was happy to see this initiative by OXFORD UNION. AND big thanks to Dr muzammil for representing the issue in a fantastic way. the Indian government has banned all discussions and debates of any kind regarding kashmir issue.
The only thing i dont understand, how all kashmiri people have muslim names
*The name Kashmir is thought to have originated from the Sanskrit words ka, meaning water, and shimeera, meaning to desiccate.*
So?
@@silvergrill1800it means it belongs to India. Literally every name and city name like Sri nagar, anantnag, baramulla, bandipur are sanskrit Indian Hindu names, and the caste names like dhar, bhat, wani, naik, rather, thakur are used there, which is enough proof kashmir historically and legally belongs to India

@@Im_Alein you can stay in independent country or go as refugee to india
Brilliant argument!!! It’s sad that we in Kashmir can’t even share it on social media in fear of getting arrested.
From Pakistan??
Lots of love and respect from Srinagar Kashmir 😭...
Let’s set the record straight:
1. *Allegations Without Evidence*:
India has been subjected to a barrage of allegations concerning Kashmir, ranging from Kushanposhpora to fabricated tales of torture camps.
2. *Kashmir’s Rich History Predating the Mughals*:
The history of Kashmir did not dawn with the arrival of the Mughals; it shines as a cradle of Indic civilisation.
3. *Pakistan’s “Bleeding India with a Thousand Cuts” Policy*:
The instability in Kashmir is not organic but orchestrated.
4. *Kashmiri Pandits and the Overlooked Ethnic Cleansing*:
The selective narrative surrounding Kashmir conveniently omits the ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri Pandits in the 1990s-a modern-day tragedy of forced exodus, systematic violence, and stolen heritage. Homes were seized, assets appropriated, and a community annihilated in their homeland. Those who claim to fight for justice in Kashmir must first address this glaring atrocity, perpetrated not by foreign invaders but by neighbours turned oppressors. Silence here speaks volumes of selective morality.
5. *The UNSC Resolution Misinterpretation*:
The oft-parroted UNSC resolution on Kashmir was advisory, requiring Pakistan to withdraw its forces before any plebiscite could be considered.
6. *Progress in Kashmir*:
Recent years have witnessed transformative progress in Kashmir.
7. *Ladakh Is Not Kashmir*:
A brief geography lesson is in order: Ladakh was never part of Kashmir, and its people share distinct ethnic, cultural, and linguistic identities.
