When we were young and it first came out, it had a different meaning, as we have aged its taken a new turn.
As you look at it in a different light and perspective. Its always Love .
Mick said this song came to him at 3 am apparently from "a higher power". Just as Lou Gram was to begin recording the final cut for this song a beautiful woman appeared in the studio apparently out of nowhere. Lou said her presence was a great motivator for this final version of the song. Upon completion the beautiful woman was gone?!
You know you have a great song when you do it acoustical and it sounds as good as the recorded version.

You do know that this singer is not who did it originally, right? As much he *sounds* like Lou Gramm and does a great job, Mr. Gramm had incredible inflection and phrasing.

This song was number 1 all over the world because the original lead vocalist Lou Gramms voice made it famous. Lou could bring tears to you eyes when he sang this song...Lou had soulful voice filled with so much emotion. This man is good but will never touch the famous voice of Lou Gramm. Lou could sing the house down and bring you to your knees.....His voice almost operatic in nature and he had a range and vocals that were unbelievable......when that choir sang with Lou you felt like you were in Church...After Lou went through brain surgery in 1997 to save his life and then was able to sing it again years later...It was emotional for Lou and anyone else listening. God Bless Lou Gramm

Your statement is true regarding how Lou felt about the song . It is not documented anywhere that the band broke up because of his feelings about the song. My statements concerned the successfulness of the song. Lou Graham had one of the best rock voices in Rock and Roll history. This ballad will stand the test of time. Here it is 2017 and there is proof of that as we are still listening to it today. Thank you for your comment. At the height of his career Lou could sing the phone book and it would become a hit. It is a blessing that his dislike of the song did not interfere with its success.

Feels good to hear this again. Churns up old forgotten memories when this song came out when I was 15 and recorded it on our VCR from Good Rockin Tonight or Video Hits. Give Kelly credit where credit is due. He pulls it off vocally and emotionally.

Foreigner was incredibly lucky to get Kelly Hansen! I don't think anyone else in the industry could have pulled off stepping into Lou Gramm's shoes. He's a great vocalist and performer, and he owns every song he sings, while respecting and paying homage to Gramm's amazing original vocals.

Deb Potter you are right, a lot of people diss him but the fact is that had Kelly not subbed Lou, there probably would not be Foreigner today except for elevator music. Kelly is a great singer and a show man and today, he out sings Lou every day of the week, maybe that wouldn't have been the case 30 years ago but it is TODAY
