This is fantastic project and 1st in the world. London bridge is fully steel structure and is cantilever type. It is also on river where rusting possibility is very less. Whereas Pamban bridge is totally concrete with rail track and is lifted vertically and much more heavy. Moreover this in in sea where rusting is very fast due to salty water. Pamban lifting bridge is a first of its kind in the world.

I've been wondering since long how the portion of the overhead wire within the draw bridge disconnects physically from the rest of the overhead traction when the bridge goes up, and vice versa. This video helped a bit to understand the process. Thanks for uploading it.
