Absolutely perfect. Your sense of timing and accuracy is incredible. Your bends and slides are just right. So many people overdo them or don't quite get it right. Amazing.

Orange, VA.) are THEE "Smoothest" steel players I've ever heard (and I've heard a LOT of "the greats" over the decades)..... oh, and can't forget David Hartley over in the UK., either. : ) PS: Finally got my 1956 National D8 back up and running again after a (nearly) 4 month restoration.... sounds Great! Also just picked up a new single neck 6 (SX) and a D6 (Ebay "special" lol), which I immediately tore completely down to "see" what kind of junk was under all that chrome.... somebody over tightened the Tone pot nut, and "crushed" it somewhat... but they're both Dime sized pots at 500K... I just picked up some new Dunlop 250K pots ($22.49 ea.!) yesterday as an upgrade, and researching some better pickups for it.. but no sense in spending too much, would never get my money back out of it... it's still Chinese. I just want to make it a decent playing & sounding D6 steel. I just had a string order from JustStrings (Milford, NH.) arrive this morning... 6 & 8's sets.... all SIT's. I will put C6 on the "inner" necks of both "D's" as well as on the new SX single 6. Not sure what tunings to put on the Outside necks (Western Swing, Late 1950's & Early 1960's (Beach Boys & similar, Doo Wop... No "Beatles" or anything of their era) like you do - A6 ??). I want to put new SIT's on my new Epiphone Electar as well... but not too sure what tuning, as I'm new and learning... and I want to "Learn" the C6 tuning First, but at the same time, I don't think I want C6 on all 4 steels, either. I have string sets for C6, A6, E7th, E13th as well as Open G & Open E from Morrell (Bristol, TN.). What tunings would you use on the outer necks of the D6 & D8 ? I'll never live long enough to be half as good as you are.... but enjoy the steel, anyway. I'm going to see if I can "sign up" with Troy B., next week..... though I would love to learn from You, Doug.... but, you don't do "on line" (zoom or whatever means) lessons.... is that correct?

Wow, thanks! Much appreciated. 😊 Yes, this old Airline lap steel with it's Valco string-through pickup has a great tone, very full and rich. And to think it was considered a student model when it was made in 1958. I play this steel guitar in my other videos: Moontide, The Endless Summer, The Lonely Bull, and All I Have to Do Is Dream.
I recently purchased a Vorson lap steel -(six string like yours). Started playing a few Hawaiian songs in C6 tuning so have an appreciation for the level of difficulty & your technique. Will be sure to check out your other videos too!
I have played this many times and learned it when I was in grade 4 we had a Mexican party and this was on the album and I loved it then so I played it and still loving it . Great job Doug.
