    Don't know when you made this video, but there definitely is a bus service (Rodoeste) between Ponta do Sol and Funchal. Also when I was in Madeira last week there were lots of vegan options available, don't think Ponta is the exception.

      Hi thanks for your comment. This was made in June/July 2022. And yes, there is a bus service between Ponta & Funchal, but every local I met did not recommend it and dismissed it as a good option. It also takes 2-2.5x longer than driving. The bus system in Funchal is good, which I mention in one of the videos (can't remember if it's this one or not as it's a 4 part series) but around the island the infrastructure for public transit is lacking and within Ponta almost non-existent. Flexible and affordable transportation was our biggest challenge over the course of the month which is what I was trying to get across as most nomad locations are much easier to move around in.
      As for vegan options, I believe Madeira as a whole is not bad, but there was not much in PdS unfortunately. I spent a month with vegans and people with different dietary restrictions and they really struggled. I was also responsible for ordering meals for us once a week and it was hard to accommodate everyone. When we ate in nearby towns that were larger, it was much easier for them to find food but we spent most of our time in PdS as that is where the nomad village is and the options were lacking.

    Thanks for the video, super helpful. Do you know how much taking a taxi from the Bolt app costs between Funchal and PdS? And is it a viable option to explore the rest of the island. Deciding whether to rent a car or if Bolt would be sufficient.

    • @TravelingTayler
      @TravelingTayler  Год назад

      When I was there no apps were on the island. Taxi was the only option & it was about 50 euro. There are a ton of day trips you can book to explore the island that include transport or you can book taxis. But if you want to do daily sight seeing all around, renting a car is probably the most practical.

    Is there surf beside ponta do sol or do you have to travel far from it?
    Also, are there many people under 25 there?

    • @TravelingTayler
      @TravelingTayler  Год назад +1

      I don't remember there being surfing in Ponta do Sol. It was mostly a chill hang out area. The surf is mostly all in the N/NW part of the island. And yes, I would say there were plenty of young people. IDK specifically if they were under 25, but meeting people in their 20's and early 30's was common. Especially at the Friday night purple party.

    Hi Taylor. I'm currently transforming my life. I'm working towards being a digital nomad and very very excited about it. I want to come to Madeira and I'm looking into the village where your staying. My question is if I pay the yearly fee how much would my stay cost and how long can I stay there for? Also can I bring my little chihuahua with me or a friend with me to stay in the room with me? I really enjoy your videos they are very insightful,,..I look forward to hearing from you

      Congrats on all the progress you've made towards becoming a Nomad so far! I am not permanently in Madeira, I was only there for a month last year. I have another video in this series on Outsite, the place I was staying. You'll have to contact them about pricing, availability and if pets are allowed. I'm not associated with the company. Here is the site: www.outsite.co/locations/madeira-ponta-do-sol
      You may have to do a private rental if they don't allow animals. Also you'll want to check the quarantine laws for Portugal (and possibly Madeira specifically) as each country has different rules.
