    Received our air tv about 1 month ago. MUST SAY that WE PAID ONLY $99 for it through Sling, by paying upfront for 3 months of Sling! GREAT DEAL AT THAT PRICE! We already were Sling customers, but that deal is given to both new and current customers! ---- We had used RUclips TV for nearly 9 months prior but dropped them when they jumped their price up twice during that time. Found Sling, as we watch/need CNBC (we are options traders) and not many other services provide CNBC for as little $$$, though we pay an additional $5 along with the $30 for Sling Blue. ----- We dropped cable nearly a year ago because of their terrible costs and fees also, bought a cheap outside antenna and have never looked back! -----We are no experts but find Sling easy to use and find their TV Guide easy as it automatically adds the Over-The-Air (OTA) stations onto that same guide. We get the same amount of OTA stations as before, though there now is a bit of time delay, and sometimes the sharpness is less than straight ANTENNA INPUT. We have no other experience with Tablo, TiVo or the other boxes and services but did find that Sling's system provides us with a lot, for less. We would recommend Air Tv Anywhere! ------ An aside: we might install another far better Rooftop Mount Antenna and add a separate coxial cable so IF (If is a crazy word) the power goes out for the Internet to operate or the internet just goes down, we could still have straight OTA TV. (we have in house emergency power with our generator. Wired that from the garage coming back into our home, so just have to "flip a couple of switches" and all the power we need is there. (Also we "could still TRADE" using Cell Phone Wireless Connection, if needed! (Smiiling= we have been self-empowered for decades, never needing to leave our house, or work for anyone by "trading". We started Options Trading in 1980 and taught it for decades now! ---- "sure beats "working for a living" - grin! ---- (we teach a lot of stuff, about all stuff in life and living well --smile).

    I got an older version on Ebay for 30.00 and it's almost identical. I got mine to use as a time shifter and also to view tv away from home. It does those two things perfectly. Just make sure you use the Sling app and not the Air Tv app.

    I wanted to like AirTV Anywhere, since there was no monthly charge compared to Tablo, and it worked with my Rokus. So I bought it BUT I returned it.
    The DVR functionality is VERY limited compared to Tablo, and the AirTV Anywhere focused more on Sling TV than DVR. You can't even pause Live TV.
    So if you have Sling TV and want basic DVR, then its good.. If your priority is DVR, then look elsewhere.
    I wish this review would have compared functionality to similar DVR devices, not just hardware specs and pricing.

      I agree, have the older airTV and want to like it but there are too many hiccups with the device. Sometimes cannot get the live tv to show on my tv although my antenna does pick up the the signal. Also there are times the AirTV has had issues recording shows I had schedule. Also quality of The original AirTv is round 720p. If this is the same hardware with more tUners then would expect same issues.

    Unlike every single DVR ever made, the AirTV is the ONLY DVR that doesn't buffer live programming so you cannot paus and rewind live TV. You must first record it, then go to the recordings to watch it in order to pause and rewind.

    Thanks for the review. I have the AirTV2 I have an external HD connected for my OTA recordings. Sometimes I have issues with watching my OTA channels on 2 different devices. Also I do not think they have fixed the issue of only recording "New" episodes of a specific title. I have not noticed that working correctly yet. When I contacted them about this they said to pick a show that is new each day or weekly, select 'New Episodes' and then keep an eye out to see if it is working correctly! Really! Based on this review, I purchased the AirTV Anywhere and was disappointed to see that FireTV (both Cube & new 4K Fire Stick) will not allow access to the AirTV Anywhere OTA DVR. According to customer support at Air TV, Amazon made some change to the Sling App that caused this issue. The FireTV App won't allow you past the "DVR IS NOT AVAILABLE IN SLING FREE" screen when you try to access the DVR. Other than that, set-up went well & the DVR works fine on iPhone or iPad SlingTV apps. As I write, AirTV Anywhere is NOT compatible with FireTV. Hopefully it will be fixed soon as I prefer not to replace all my FireTV devices with Roku's.

    I have been using the AirTV Anywhere for about a week, and I am still deciding if I like it. It has limitations compared to my TiVo Roamio, but acquiring station signals seems to be an improvement compared to my TiVo setup. It *could be* that because I was able to place the unit closer to the signal source, I was able to improve the signal quality on some stations that were previously difficult to receive (pixelation and black outs). However, one of the things that I don't like is not being able to add recording time easily for live sporting events. TiVo has a much better user interface, but I am debating whether it is worth the subscription cost to keep it.

      I would double check to see if local channels stream to apple tv first. Outdoor tv antennas are way more reliable and cheaper than indoor tv antennas so good choice on that. As for airtv, I have an Airtv 2 and I have it wired via ethernet since wifi introduces too many inconsistencies and it works very well with my outdoor tv antenna. If you can afford it, get airtv anywhere, otherwise airtv 2 is fine but just make sure u connect either device to internet via ethernet.

    My problem with this or any other device is finding a place to connect my HD antenna to to get a clear signal for everything. I have HD antennas connected to all of my TVs in the house but each one has trouble with different channels.…none of them stream correctly for all major channels.

    • @MajorPickleSwag
      @MajorPickleSwag 4 года назад +1

      If you are using indoor tv antennas, then that might be why. I completely stopped using indoor antennas on all my tvs and went on my roof and attached an outdoor tv antenna to my old satellite dish. Since doing this, I havent had any signal issues and I even had perfect signal on ALL my tvs using this antenna and airtv 2 during a hurricane. So my advice would be to invest in a basic outdoor tv antenna from amazon. Indoor tv antennas are just too unreliable imo. Also, if u are using airtv 2 or airtv anywhere, I would make sure to wire it via ethernet. Wifi introduces too many inconsistencies.

      Sling TV blue only provides SOME of the local channels (for example, on my area, CBS would not enter into an agreement with anyone other than Cable providers), & even then, it is dependent on your zip code. Hi there and thanks for the question! So yes, the AirTV Anywhere's DVR feature is specifically for OTA local channels, not Sling's internet-based streaming channels. That said, if you do have one of Sling's packages, you should have access to a cloud-based DVR that'll let you record those channels. And if your Sling app supports the AirTV Anywhere, its local recordings should be available alongside your cloud-based recordings within the app.
      Hope that helps!

    So there are 2 things that this review does not mention. First is that you will not have access to your local channels from a web browser or from the Windows 10 app. The second is if your internet connection goes down for any reason, you will not have access to your DVR'd content. So without internet it is essentially a brick.

    Besides the fact google and cable is working together on making it horrible for people to replace cable while maintaining the same comfort experience. The air2 was terrible. Setup is glitchy and requires a phone or tablet and airtv or sling app to setup. Sling will no absolutely not load it's paid or the airtv OTA channel to it's live menu on any of the Android box system outside of the TiVo 4k when you're in the TV app. The ability of this is already there. Someone please tell me. Cell phone tech is what a octo core, 6-12gb ram and 256-512gb on ROM with UHD screen and battery expandable storage? Multiple super cameras?. Outside of the screen for the most part your tv is a phone. Just from 2012? And double to triple the price. I'm tired of the bs with tv manufactures. $2000 Android smart tv should have 6gb - 12 gb ram 128 ROM air mouse and a all inclusive guide for this price. On top of support updates. Seriously though you can buy a new but 2 year old model year tv get home at find out you're out of Google updates and it's no longer supported. Meaning app crash. Performance loss. Security issues...
