I'm not even allowed to walk freely under the sun. I met a boy on a sunny day. How come a perverse girl like me... ...fell in love with his innocence? Notebook Page 5
"One day, all of a sudden, these happy days will come to an end. That's why ...I was trying to enjoy the happiness I received today so that I wouldn't regret it even if the world ended tomorrow."
I think the Higurashi Visual Novel is the best thing i've read so far, even surpassing works like subahibi that are more complex in nature. The sheer atmosphere, plot , vibrant characters and the uncanny feeling of not belonging and later on in the novels of good things coming to an end is unsurpassed. This soundtrack solidifies the nature of the story itself and it's melancholic feeling is amazing. I am truly sad for people who only enjoyed the 2006 anime version with it's awkward pacing that kind of makes it out to be just a innocent story with a gory twist at the end (2006 is trying it's best but you can't just slop 80+ hour visual novel into a 13 hour anime, i won't even start talking about what Higurashi Gou did as i think it's complete nonsense and not canon and just makes the series gorebait for weird freaks online). I am so glad i read it and didn't watch it (i read the vn then went about watching the 2006 anime) as i think they're two different stories. It truly makes you feel like you're a newcomer in Hinamizawa and invests you more and more into it's culture and story. Man do i love higurashi.
If you liked the Higurashi VN, then you could also read the manga, which I feel is much better than the anime in terms of showing the content of the VN in a more visual format.

"I wonder, how hard does a person have to work to really be happy? I mean, really happy."

"I wonder if different birds chirp on Sundays?">
As I drove out my morning sluggishness, I realized how dumb of a question that was.
This track gives me the nostalgic feeling that I get from Town, Flow of Time, People from Clannad

@bookshelfxd yeah true, manga is really nice. If i ever get the chance to, i think I'll buy a physical copy
Best track!
Easily my favorite in the entire series. It's melancholic, peaceful, yet at some parts eerie. It perfectly represents the vibe of reading the VNs imo.
I wanna learn this on piano
