I was a disciple from 1972 to 1977.
The reason why I stayed there was that I was young, lonely and emotionnally dependant.
The message that I would like to leave is that you don't have to run the marathon, play in a circus, sing Bengali songs and dress in a sari to go to Heaven.
For sure not, you do even go to heaven... but not fall into hell, it was at least good to be there and the Guru can´t do too much about his disciples right.. you could there be without all this and I´m 100% sure that Gurudev would not have make you to leave... but for this you might have some nuts, and a strong inner beiing... if you are just seeking to overcome bad feelings and difficult situations you may go to a therapist... I was diciple for I think 1991 +92 and I´m thankfull for that time.. asuming a lot of peolple over there are menatly in need... a lot... but I still love one of my teacher Sri Chinmoy.... for me it was not the right way, because I´m not a Bakhti Yogini, I´m more Jenana... and also Hinduism is not mine, but I had to try, and if I would have listen to his personal advice I would´t have to suffer this much, he warned me to cut contact to the boy I was "loving"... well I made the experience and it was disturbing and let to a lot of struggels... anyway.. I succeded and learnt a lot about compassion... stay save and protected
I have a compassion to you, I understand how sometimes difficult to stay on spiritual path.
I am almost 13 y on this path and had many inner experiences and I know that Guru is the highest of all Gurus, avatars etc in the Universe.
I hope one day you will realize what you lost.

I have met many spiritual teachers learned how some help family as best they can.I lived in QUEENS and volunteered for Running events, never ran Marathon ever.Meditate and consider my self enriched by neighbors .Including Battle of Bulge veteran who introduced himself to US at celebration,warm man .All my time I have Heart filled with gratitude for races ( multi day) for Peace events for Mediations ,MY HEART is ALL GRATITUDE ,ALOE for BRINGING Boat man to us.
