Great review as always. Can’t get over target just ripping folk for the Taylor name though. Do love the SP system but £55 for a 80% tungsten dart just because they’ve put a picture of Taylor on the box is a little much. Hope the shoulder get better!
Thanks Jay! As I said in video dont get too hung up on 80% v 90% it has only a marginal affect on price. Only reason I say that is I think people need to stop thinking of 80% as been inferior, I have had plenty of great 80% tungsten sets over the years. There is no doubt you pay more for the Taylor name but as with any sport or product that has a "label" attached you always pay more. Nothing new in that regard. How much more we pay I dont really know, but to balance the argument a little the company pays more to be a sponsor of the likes of Taylor so it only makes sense as a business to make the most of it. Not saying its right or wrong but just try to put a reasoned argument to it so people can make a better judgement of it and then just vote with your wallet if you agree or disagree. I am sure there is other things affecting darts prices these days, just like everything else has gone up. Its sad that we can no longer get such darts at what was once a reasonable price but I dont see it getting any better in the near future ☹ Thanks re the shoulder too, it happens a lot, some days is worse than others, I usually rest a few days if it gets too bad though.
Great review. On first sight I dismissed these darts because of the smooth sections near the nose. However, after your close up in the review, I can see that there are grip zones near the nose for my 3rd finger to rest on. I think I will give these darts a go. Thanks Darren.
Thanks John. I think a lot have dismissed them as even some thought it was just a flat smooth ring at the front and not that 10 sided cut ring. But I did not see any promo pics or info about the darts first, I actually saw the darts first before all that and my first thought when I took them out the box was "wow these feel nice and look good too" I know they are pricey and all that but its a much nicer dart than people realize if you like a long barrel that is :)

Feel my pain!! As a rear gripper I get thoroughly sick and tired of the smooth sections at the back of the darts which are generally just so the manufacturer can get their logo on the dart.
Thanks! Its a surface treatment or process I think rather than an actual applied coating, so guess its like a pre aged affect to the tungsten, so it should last a good while but I would guess in time it will lose that very nice initial feel as it starts to smooth of and get clogged with muck :)
@@deanjames2476 Cool! I thought about getting a machine to do it but looks like they are quite pricey so not sure its worth it for just a few sets of darts :)
Thanks! As I said in video dont get hung up on % of tungsten. Its 10% difference after all, so if they were 10% cheaper at £49.50 would you say they were a good price? Not trying to be funny as I used to think the same way too but I think the price here is dictated more by other factors and probably biggest is the Taylor name. I do think people seem to think 80% is inferior to 90% but I have had plenty of 80% darts that I have liked better than most 90% 95% and 97% tungsten darts. I remember years ago buying some 97% darts which I thought would be as tough as hell as they had more tungsten. I found them to be the exact opposite and they were so brittle that chunks were coming off them in first few throws. I suppose its likely the way the tungsten is made too but it put me off paying silly money for higher tungsten darts for a while. More often than not the 95% and 97% range is just used for extra thinness or weight over a certain length, I think for most people 80% 85% and 90% is the best range and I cant be sure but I used to think years ago the 80% to 85% darts seemed the most durable to me. Maybe things have changed since then though :)

Darren, a random one. I’m after a near identical grip to the target agora A01.. but slightly shorter at the 50mm range - and if anyone would know a similar barrel it would be you? Lol
lol tough one as although there is darts with a ring grip that have lateral cuts I dont think there is any that have a mix of thick and thin rings like the Agora too, assuming its the front half the dart you are liking? Also what weight?
@@DartsReviewChannel the whole barrel lol.. I’m after aggressive grip at the rear and a ring grip at the front (doesn’t have to be lateral cut rings) I currently use chizzy darts but the rear grip is just slightly too slippy. 22, 23 or 24g on weight
@@george2995 Well I have not tried them but the Red Dragon Evoke is an interesting looking grip and just less than 51mm for the 22g version. But some people have found that these points are weaker than normal points and can break at that thinner portion near the nose of the barrel. But that may be rare.

Percentage tungsten makes some difference but its not a massive amount, in the case of these darts the Taylor name is most likely the reason for the extra cost but to be fair it has the Swiss point and extra sandblasted coating which I suppose adds a little more too, but still think the name is the bigger reason. I may be wrong though as I am not Target and am not privy to all their costings/profits etc. As a business though I would be doing the same, making the most of the players names, it is a business after all.
