My friend died a few weeks ago and recently this got played at his funeral, it honestly uplifted everyone. In loving memory of Zachary who sadly passed from a lung infection after complications trying to get him better. You’re in no pain anymore. Thought to his mother and girlfriend. We all love and miss you. Thankyou for this amazing song
2010 my best friend one day out of the blue decided to make me dance with her to this song, it quickly became one of her favorite songs. I don’t remember the dance, just the moment and that I let her lead since I couldn’t dance. Then, she told me “I’ll never forget this moment.” I wish I could say that I don’t shed tears when I hear this song, but it’s one of my happiest memories from a simpler time. RIP Melissa. I still listen to the songs we compiled together.
I'm Brazilian and your story is moving, it warmed our hearts, especially knowing that you continue to remember your moments together. I wish you all the best, kisses
When I heard the song for the first time, I thought it was a 60’s song. Turned out to be a relatively new song. Good to know new artists still appreciate the old school.
A lot of older songs have that sort of harmony and suspended melody on the home chord like that. The phrase "[poor boy] like me" in the song 'Dawn' by The Four Seasons comes to mind, as does "...you are the dancing queen" in ABBA's 'Dancing Queen'. (two groups who themselves have often been described as happily melancholic) 😊
@@diegovera1353 Exactly. She sings the first couple syllables of "remember" on the second note of the scale, so when that D major chord hits on the "mem" part, the note sort of hangs there, creating a kind of Dsus2 (suspended second) chord for that brief moment (or maybe technically a Dadd9), but the point is, it's very pleasant to the ear at that point in the song, and _especially_ pleasing when the guy's harmony line is _literally_ singing the very same pattern as "you are the dancing queen" for the phrase "always remember me" (0:44) 😄
Stage school kids - they know that only a few people get the limelight, and most of their classmates will be in the background. But without them, you've got nothing.

This got me feeling the nostalgia. This was a great song, and still is. It is a real vibe, and putting into differnet contexts, it can make you cry. It's nice to hear this again.
I was working out in a gym around 2012 and they had a track in which I ran. This gym always played very mundane pop hits usually. But then this song came on and I had to take a break to listen to it because I thought it was a 60s song I had never heard before. I was puzzled the whole day. This was years before I had apps like Shazam. I made it a point to memorize the melody because I loved it so much. it took me a few more days to locate the song name and artist. In any case, I love it. It’s such a beautiful throwback song.
My best friend of 18 years and I are graduating college in a year. After that, we'll go our separate ways and live our dreams on our own. Without her, I wouldn't have survived college. She was and still is my pillar who always reminded me that I'm going to make it (even if a lot of people make me feel like I'm bound to fail). This song reminds me of our friendship, and that time is fleeting but that memories will never fade no matter how far apart we are from one another.
This reminds me of my best friend of 8 years. We’re off to college next year and our plans are different. I also wouldn’t have survived the last couple years without her but she doesn’t consider me her best friend and it’s a sucky feeling knowing someone is more important to you than you are to them. It’s stupid but I’ve been distancing myself from her that way it won’t hurt as much when we inevitably grow apart and stop talking.
For years I was convinced that this song was a classic like from the 50's or 60's, like from The Ronnetes, the Crystals or the Supremes. Great song It feels like It has always existed, so timeless.
I remember hearing this song for the first time when I was watching a leap year, I was fascinated by her voice, I wish if more singers made more music like this. It sounds so happy, fun, exciting and beautiful. What a masterpiece. ❤️

This is from 11 years ago?! I heard this on tiktok and thought it was new! At least now they’re finally getting popularity because this is a great song!
And they did it with more taste and they actually really brought that era feeling! Megan I find boring! And her all songs are same.. Childish and cheesy! I mean sorry but ... Not working for me!! Noisettes are amazing tho!!!
@ilikebacon tiktok does ruin songs, not because it got popular but mostly because of why and how they got popular. Tiktokers usually cut off songs and it changes the meaning, sometimes they even change the lyrics and gives the original songs well, a different meaning. So the songs get popular not because they have great lyrics, great story, etc. They will also be remembered as"that one tiktok song" and be forgotten after the trend.
I listen to punk, math rock, power pop, and noise rock. Out of ignorance and the standard lazy brand loyalty of people like me, I usually ignore the radio. But my attention was earned by this gem. Amazing song!
love it love it love it!!!! Why the hell wasn't this blaring on every radio station back in '09?! It's got just about everything to be a hit and more!!!! seriously underrated!!!
I am guilty of listening to some stuff by the Supremes and Ronettes! So, yeah loving this sound. There probably is modern music out there that sounds like this, just gotta know where to find it.
Yeah, this honestly brings me back to the 1960s (I wasn't there, actually, but it still reminds me of then). It's always refreshing to have a blast from the past, compared to the stuff we have today (Which is still good, but different)
"Leap Year" led me here. I absolutely fell in love with the song immediately. Love the old Motown jive to it. It's awesome!!! And I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful she is. She is really classy/cool ;)
I remember when this first came out. I’m glad to see more people are appreciating it now. I guess sometimes a song just needs some time and a social media platform to help bring it to new heights.

when she said “i’m sorry i’m a little late” i felt that bcs why the hell i never know of this song before 🥲
Only 11 years 😭
@@user-qe9jl4xw4u exactly bestie
I know, how could we ?
Maybe you kena start discover underrated song, it might be famous again in another 10 years 😜
I was working out in a gym around 2012 and they had a track in which I ran.
This song makes me feel so sad and nostalgic oh my god IM STUCK
Lucas Vinicius same for me!
Why?
I think we all are a bit thinking about those good days lucas x
Omg YESSSS
Any other aunty
Why was music back then so good. A song like this would never be in the charts today
It's all about the fringe shimmy in this video! Great song, great lyrics, great performance.
This song reminds me of our friendship, and that time is fleeting but that memories will never fade no matter how far apart we are from one another.
all the best
This reminds me of my best friend of 8 years. We’re off to college next year and our plans are different. I also wouldn’t have survived the last couple years without her but she doesn’t consider me her best friend and it’s a sucky feeling knowing someone is more important to you than you are to them. It’s stupid but I’ve been distancing myself from her that way it won’t hurt as much when we inevitably grow apart and stop talking.
Same it reminds me of friendship
I am going to cry.
Same, but I’m moving to another country and I just told my best friend. He’s so sad and I don’t know how we will deal with it.
Verdade
Exato por isso eu uso

Some songs deserved to be remembered, this is one of them!
i feel very... complete after listening to this song. what a stunning performance.
Yes ☺
For years I was convinced that this song was a classic like from the 50's or 60's, like from The Ronnetes, the Crystals or the Supremes. Great song It feels like It has always existed, so timeless.
I was searching for an Original 😂 this gives me 50s 60s vibes I wasn’t born but I LOVE music from the 50 thru 90s
@@Ceeflowers same here I was about to go look for who originally sang it lol
She’s quite literally the most breathtaking woman I’ve ever seen. Her voice makes her unreal
Exatamente
Sim😍👏👏👏
isso kkkkkkkkkkkkkk isso mesmo pqp
I remember hearing this song for the first time when I was watching a leap year, I was fascinated by her voice, I wish if more singers made more music like this. It sounds so happy, fun, exciting and beautiful. What a masterpiece. ❤️
❤️

Bem vindo a o bonde!
This is from 11 years ago?! I heard this on tiktok and thought it was new! At least now they’re finally getting popularity because this is a great song!
And they're saying that Meghan Trainor is bringing back the 60's music sound. Though clearly Noistettes did it earlier and better.
Geoff, you're a fool and clearly never heard her live.
And they did it with more taste and they actually really brought that era feeling! Megan I find boring! And her all songs are same.. Childish and cheesy! I mean sorry but ... Not working for me!! Noisettes are amazing tho!!!
60's English pop love it
+Linda Chernysheva Megghan might be clearly better than most of what's in today's charts, cbut her tunes don'T come even close to this track
IKR
bro tiktok is hope for all the songs that never took off back in the day when they were released. this is such a great song!!
Cringe
@@Kevin-McLaughlin still a fact
Sort of ruins the good ones though
Nah it ruins them
@ilikebacon tiktok does ruin songs, not because it got popular but mostly because of why and how they got popular.
11 years ago, amazing how people can bring back songs from being forgotten.
I'll never forget this song. Should have been a major hit. Pure classic. Love you Shingai xxx
I love this song!!! What a feel good song!!! Gives me butterflies every time.
My mates funeral song was this.. always nice to come and give this a bang😌 R.I.P Ryan, fly high bro😇
This song was so big in the UK when it was released I’m so glad the Americans are finally finding it
As Asian I vibe with Americans, this song is fire!

Nossa que voz madura!

Madura, mas meiga, você é perfeita!
Vocês são pefeitos!
Like a modern day Supremes/ Ronettes/ Martha and the Vandellas! Love it! Wish more music today was like this
+BamaOrangeH8R I had the same line of thinking. This definitely has a serious Motown feel to it.
Really sounds like do the locomotion
Kk, não, ela foi lançada em 2009

My grandson turned me onto this song and I loved it. That girl is awesome singer. Thank you, Caleb.
Underrated song, so beautiful!! 💛💛Shingai’s voice is just amazing 😍
"Leap Year" led me here. I absolutely fell in love with the song immediately. Love the old Motown jive to it. It's awesome!!! And I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful she is. She is really classy/cool ;)
Just watched it!!
I remember when this first came out. I’m glad to see more people are appreciating it now. I guess sometimes a song just needs some time and a social media platform to help bring it to new heights.
Don't think age should come into music. I'm 65 and to me this is bloody brilliant!
This is still one of my favourite songs of all time. It makes me think about so many people and so many situations.
Essa música é demais! A voz dela é show.
I freaking LOVED this!! What a talent this lady has!! I will be looking for more of your music!!
years ago... my good friend show'ed me this song, the years have passed.... (around 12) and I am still returning to this song, my music orientation extreme metal music.... but I am also sound engineer and the sound they produce! HFS!
That's that timeless 50's sound, glad she brought it back ☺️
I truly believe that no matter how hard the processed music machine tries to pump our ears full of garbage we will always seek out and find these gems.
Dang....14 years later and its now just getting traction.
