Fun video with great advice. Normally an audio review channel introduces you to a product. In this case I am happy to run into this reviewer via the Gallion. I follow Thomas and his Gallion. That's how I noticed this video. Glad I did.
Hi Mr Chibs. As a fellow CW 4 owner, curious if will you be purchasing a Tube Amp or do your tastes lean more towards the SS Hegel sound with the klipsch? I’m currently driving my CW’s with a McIntosh preamp and Rotel 200w p/ channel. The CW 4’s have great dynamics at louder volumes with my setup, but curious if a SET tube amp with improve lower volume listening?
Right now I’m only running solid state but I’m open to trying more tubes in the future. As for listening at low volume, I imagine it would depend on the specific tube amp. CW4’s do really well with H120 / H390. Not sure I remember how the TS120 did in this regard though. 🍻
Enjoyed the review very much but have a question about the song ‘Here And Now.’ The version with the same artist and album cover I found on Amazon Music doesn’t have a female vocalist. It’s purely instrumental. Is there a different version that has vocals?
Thanks for watching. I believe the vocalist's name is Alma Naidu and she's definitely singing in this version. That said, you may be mistaking her voice with the clarinet (Could be a sax but I think it's a clarinet) She sings along side it and the cool part I mentioned is it's hard to tell where one picks up and the other lets off. Very cool track! I'm on Qobuz and don't use Amazon anymore. So no clue if you've got a different recording. Listen carefully and let me know if you hear her.🍻
@@MisterChibs I don’t know what Amazon did but the track ‘Here And Now’ on Wolfgang Haffner’s site definitely has the vocals you describe but the track on Amazon is instrumental. The 3rd track ‘La Casa’ has a lot of that blending of voice and instruments as well. Well, thanks for the music recommendations. The album is really good. I’ll try a different streaming service soon.
I'm sure Thomas appreciates this review regardless of the Nit Pic's as I imagine he has some respect for them and his getting as close as he could to his ideal for the $. And if I'm not mistaken he also did his own comparison to Haggle. The one of many things to remember is none of us hear the same song exactly the same way. No two ears hear exactly the same way given natures genetic design per person. Yes, we have similarities, but. And Taste in our musical nature affects this as well. 🎉 Great Review though I'd like to add that the cost of those Tubes is like Bentley to Toyota if you can afford a Bentley then you needn't worry. But then again Music for some is worth every penny spent.
Of course it’s a great amp, it’s Thomas's amp 🤩 Both this and the Hegal are off my shopping list though because I need balance control in addition to the tone control. Not sure I’ve ever seen a tube amp with balance control, maybe not doable. Most high end amps lack balance control. I guess those of us with some off sided hearing loss or a need to sit off centre are shunned as undesirables by the audiophile clan.
@@brentcollins9727 Yes some Mcintosh amps have it all, but in my country they are extra pricey. Not just a Mcintosh premium but a premium on top of that. About double the U.S. price. I see there’s some Luxman class A amps that have tone and balance.
great review. another pro for any tube amp is that you can upgrade the sound quality and fine tune the tone by swapping tubes, modern tubes are fine but nos sounds a lot better and last longer.
I guess the aesthetic isn't everyone's cup of tea. As far as audio components are concerned, I prefer them to be clean and not draw to much attention. Having said that, there's something about those tubes glowing that just draws me in. 🔥🍻
Went from Hegel H190 to Integrated Tube Amp Rogue Audio Magnum III..Simply put like you said a tube amp is more FUN,. There is nothing wrong with the Hegel, tubes I believe help you connect more with the music: natural, warm . Hegel more sterile. As far as tube life goes for most of us would take years before tubes would wear out. Klipsch speakers at their best with tube amps
Hi Eduardo, the larger KT88 tubes last around 2500 hours. The smaller tubes last longer. I discuss this in the video below (timestamped it for ya) ruclips.net/video/KRESSN5xQyw/видео.html 🍻
Thank you! When they have headphone out, integrated loud speaker amps usually doesn’t sound as good as a separate headphone amp. They’re more for convenience imo. 🍻
I am now usibg an Audiolab 6000a. Rave reviews aplenty but to me is way below par. My previous amp Roksan even rhe old n cheapest model can easily put the Audiolab to shame!
I could get over the 10.000 hours set of tubes, but 2500 hours at a cost of $100 each. They would last me less then a year. It would be to much for me. As well the expenses as the hassle.
Yea, I get that and by my calculations, those KT88C's would last me around the same time as you. What some do is alternate between solid state in the summer and use their tube amps in the winter (they get warm). Still not a cheap prospect though and the price of tubes seems to be in a constant state of fluctuation. Thanks for watching Leo!🍻
@@MisterChibs Right, love to try tubes or class A, but I think it’s not practical for me living in a tropical climate. Airconditioning bills are high as it is already. 😊
