Studio musicians on this album were the Memphis Boys, lead by lead guitarist Reg Young, who was a member of the Bill Black Combo, which disbanded when Bill Black passed away in the early 60's. He also did the backing for Elvis on the 'Elvis in Memphis" album, so he did "In the Ghetto & Suspicious Minds." Reg passed away in early 2019.

Elton John pressed on puttting her in the Hall of fame, citing the greatest voice of all time, what a nice guy.

You appreciate this one the more you listen to it. She's very emotive and sincere without sounding melodramatic. My goodness! Just listen at 2:03!

Mosca Muerta . Yes. I agree! It’s sad it wasn’t appreciated in its day, except for ‘son of a preacher man’. It’s a very well thought out & produced album. In it, You can hear everything it influenced, as the decades passed. This album is over 50 years old...

Yeah, Elton gets in the news if criticising someone but has done a lot to promote other artists too- Leon Russell another recently in Hall of Fame.
