    I used to re-stream/simulcast for years on twitch and RUclips, nothing ever happened but I did get viewers commenting "you can't do this"
    My reply would be, "if twitch wants me to stop they should make me partner"
    I have now moved to youtube for the simple fact there is more eyeballs and streaming quality is better than twitch.

    • @MWGriffith093
      @MWGriffith093 2 года назад +5

      I've said this for years. Unless your a streamer with 1000s of views every day twitch isnt going to waist there time to stop someone with "low numbers" to stop streaming on multiple platforms. And like Devin has said multiple times on other videos. If you want to grow your community you should multi stream and just not become an affiliate or partner to do it "legally". But like I said I never see a world where twitch will go after an affiliate for multi streaming.

    • @SasuPsycho
      @SasuPsycho 2 года назад +4

      Fun thing is: people are even doing so, when you weren't that stupid to go for Affiliate or Partner. I don't know how many people told me during streams, when they noticed I simulcast to other platforms: "You are not allowed to do this!" - "Guess why you can't sub me? I'm nor a Twitch Partner neither Affiliate, so: yes..." - "But you have more than 100+ viewers!", leading to the "Why U no Affiliate/Partner??" discussion.

    What is great is there will be a bunch of people who THINK there is no exclusivity. Twitch is going to have to enforce and possibly get challenged

      Enforcing vs. streamers with 300 viewers ( shortly after the 50/50 change ) will drive small timers into RUclips. A LOT more than what's happening.
      As Devin says, enforcing equates to paying the streamer, paying enough for the streamer to shut up and/or not care anymore. This is about "show me the money" and not much else. Any dictator inclinations will implode the platform in zero time

    THIS is so annoying when it comes to Twitch. And I have to counter you, that most people on Twitch don't know about that: I don't know how many people told me during streams, when they noticed I simulcast to other platforms: "You are not allowed to do this!" - "Guess why you can't sub me? I'm nor a Twitch Partner neither Affiliate, so: yes..." - "But you have more than 100+ viewers!", leading to the "Why U no Affiliate/Partner??" discussion, where me or my mate always come up with the "Devin arguments": being a sellout for some jiggling money.
    Also, somehow being connected to the "Twitch and Gambling" video: Forcing ads on viewers, this annoys so many people so much, when they enter your stream and having absolutely no control about those ads shown, e. g. not wanting to advertise some companies or products in any kind. The "ads on entry" thing e. g. prevents me often from raiding/supporting other small streamers, because it's just hilarious if you e. g. raid someone, they are happy for you doing so - and you miss it all, because they express that while I/my community have to watch those ads...
    Also, from a small streamer perspective: I doubted several times that simulcasting is a serious alternative to Twitch, because of e. g. Facebook and RUclips growth being stuck at a very low (0 - 1) level, when I usually have between 20 - 130 viewers on Twitch, peaking sometimes up to 400 viewers.
    Facebook, well... it's just horrible to work with that (backend...) as a creator and also way less enjoyable for viewers because how the stream is embedd into Facebook. But both seem to... grow (slowly) now.
    Maybe that's why I'm so much happier about every new (recurring) viewer on both of those (or other) platforms. Because it reminds me when I started streaming on Twitch and how I build my community there in the beginning with just a few people that were always there to talk to while streaming.

    Multistreaming has been one of the best decisions I've ever made, especially after getting a stream key for TikTok. The amount of engagement I've received on all platforms, especially Twitch, has been MINDBLOWING. It really isn't that hard reading multiple chats either.

    Hey Devin, I just wanted to thank you for all of the free, useful content you provide on this channel. A year ago when I started making content I knew nothing about new media marketing, nor did I have any interest in it. Now, I super pumped whenever you drop an new video and I'm actively seeking out other information regarding it. It doesn't have a huge benefit to me, since the content I make is niche, but I love getting to help, inform, and educate others on the subject (a lot of referring to your content here since I don't think I could say it succinctly like you do). I appreciate what you're doing here on RUclips, on Discord, and through Novo. Thank you!

    I talked with Twitch when applying for Partner about a year ago, and they specifically said I could not stream on RUclips at all. I tried asking them for an exception because I wanted to do what Harris Heller did before he made the switch - stream on RUclips for a bit then bring everyone over to Twitch. I did that once before I was Partner and I basically doubled my viewership on the Twitch stream. They said no. I was not paid anything, I just was applying for the basic Twitch Partner program where you get the extra emote slots and the badge etc.
    So even if exclusivity was unenforceable, or apparently never enforced, it was definitely specifically told to me and probably a lot of partners within the last 2 years that they are not allowed to stream on RUclips, and hearing this news definitely changes that for Partners like me, and it feels like a massive load off (I was pretty close to leaving Twitch for RUclips)
    Haven't fully finished the video yet but I read your Twitter thread too and wanted to throw this out there and see if anyone else had thoughts

    • @CelestialMelody
      @CelestialMelody 2 года назад +1

      If you didn't finish the video, Exclusivity enforcement was removed for all platforms but Facebook and RUclips, they do not want you to simul-stream there, they will enforce it for those two, especially for Partners; those two are the exception and they don't allow you to simultaneously stream to those, because they want to hold monopoly over you, sadly~

    • @FustyLugsVR
      @FustyLugsVR 2 года назад

      Yeah, been streaming 3 years on Twitch and always heard from everyone I talked to that streaming on RUclips as a Partner could get you in trouble. Not even multistreaming, just streaming at all. Never heard or saw evidence for the opposite. So, while it's too bad they didn't kill exclusivity, this announcement was still good news for me.

    I started streaming on RUclips thanks to Devin Nash. It's most certainly true when he says RUclips has a discovery but Twitch doesn't. I don't have that many subscribers but I do get found my random people sometimes. I always make sure to ask them how they found my channel and their answer is usually "I typed warzone on the search bar and your stream came up". I started streaming on Twitch then changed to RUclips & that NEVER happened to me on twitch.

So glad you cleared it up - I do think the co streaming on tiktok is a great idea though as I agree, TT live is really popping. I'll probably continue to multistream on YT and Twitch unless I become partner. Thank you as always for the amazing content.

Thanks to you I didn't sign the Twitch affiliate contract and do Live multistream everyday to all 3 platforms, RUclips, FB and Twitch...and to be honest, Twitch is doing the worse in terms of growth...I was a FB only broadcaster, but now it feels like YT is doing better and better...Thanks!

    Deep-diver signing in at 26:00 and wanted to point some things out as a 2-year Facebook Gaming Partner (came over on the Mixer -> FBG deal) on why they're struggling to build out Facebook Gaming.
    After 2 years, the platform is still struggling with many features & requests from when I first came onboard:
    *Stream delay is still 8-11 seconds on average and ruins interactivity
    *Chat breaks multiple times per week (I'll think my chat is dead when in fact chat just doesn't display people's messages)
    *Reach started out great and then died out after Sept/Oct 2020 (most people dropped tons of CCV and never recovered)
    *Most viewers that come from Twitch/YT hate having to deal with their real ids and don't want to have to create alt accounts
    *Aspects of monetization break occasionally and many with monetization have not been paid to what they've expected (I didn't have this problem, though)
    *The workflow for going live from Facebook Gaming Studio is far more cumbersome compared to Twitch
    *Benefits as a Partner were great at first, but now those have dried up and they have incentives for Stars and Reels which don't pan out unless you get a lot of community volume
    Most of the things that hold Facebook Gaming back in terms of being great is the fact that the engineers need to work with all the existing infrastructure of Facebook, which just creates a litany of bugs across all aspects of Facebook Gaming.

    Disappointing. Twitch needs to realize that simulcasting doesn't hurt them.

    Simulcasting yes. But from this article we can ascertain that you CAN stream to RUclips just without the multi stream to twitch, which is a huge change for a lot of us that aren't in he upp echelons of twitch. I less I'm reading that wrong?
    That's the reason why streamers are happy. Honestly, until we see the actual contract for ourselves I'm not changing anything.

    I watch some content on Twitch because its not available elsewhere. As a destiny viewer, I 100% prefer watching youtube videos than trying to remember the name of a streamer I want to watch then hope they are live and if not to dig through their VOD to find the content that I want to watch. RUclips has found me so much great content I would otherwise not have found whereas on Twitch I'm not digging through VODs to hopefully find someone doing the content I'm looking for.

    Devin IIRC in their old contracts they had exclusive rights to "licensed content", however the licensed content was not defined as having had to be produced on twitch, meaning that technically speaking if you were a partnered streamer and you streamed somewhere else not on twitch, you were making that licensed content not exclusive to twitch.
    It was most likely an illegal contract but no one big really tested it

    thanks for making it clear for what twitch are claiming vs what they are doing yet again

    Ngl, I thought this announcement just meant that twitch partners (the ones that get paid from Amazon subs) can now also stream on RUclips (not simultaneously). I almost never see anyone stream on both and have subs on twitch. Didn’t expect that it only affects short form streams like TikTok.

    i simulcast right now and have grown pretty significantly since starting. I have barely made ANY actual long form videos and have amassed 25k+ views and around 265 subs.
