It's actually amazing how good you are at teaching..It's insane, I read this in a textbook 4 times over and didn't understand it.. I watched a 5 minute video and got it instantly. Thank you so much

This is so fun, you posted this comment 9 years ago and here I am studying my course of International political economy with the same great song in 2024. Hope you pass your exam though and wish you see this comment.

@@EmaLeGoadec I struggled with that exam indeed! But I passed! I kind of wish I could take that course again, I forgot most of what I learned unfortunately. I guess I had too many new impressions when doing a semester abroad on the other side of the Atlantic! I hope it goes well in your course and exam. Take care!

    Firstly Thanks for the videos!
    Just a quick question though...
How does this fit in with the idea of comparative advantage?
If for instance a developing country has a comparative advantage in say coffee production, then the theory would suggest to specialize in production of coffee .
However over the long term they would suffer from declining terms of trade?

That's why the law of comparative advantage is highly debated - it depends on what you specialise in, low-value added industries such as coffee will not be beneficial in the LR. If you are interested in this, I'd suggest you research some similar theories: infant industry argument, dependency theory.
