Wow. Very impressive! I did not realize that composite decking would get so limber, when heated.

Hi, I know you made this video years ago, but I’m new to this. Im building a deck with trex decking with the ribs on the bottom. I’m doing the picture frame and one of the corners is a radius. The radius is around a 3’ radius. I took a sample piece to dry a radius. I don’t get a heat con kit though, I ended up getting a kit on eBay from china for $900, instead of over $7k. This is the only deck I’ve ever had to do a radius on so I can’t justify spending that much for one deck if it don’t work out, if you know what I mean. I’m a contractor in north east Wisconsin and I do a little bit of everything from new construction to remodeling to decks and more. Well anyway off topic. I did a test piece and it didn’t really work like I was hoping. The blanket melted the coating in spots and the board cupped a little. After just watching this video, I see I didn’t have it face down for starters. I started out at around 200 degrees F and was at that for about 10 minutes and the internal temperature was at that but it wasn’t soft enough and it was already melting the coating on top of the board on the ends and a little on the side. It was almost like there was too much pressure on those areas. The board was approximately 9’ long. So maybe the weight of the overhang melted the ends? And the side, maybe when I lifted the side of the blanket up to check it, it added more weight to the side? In the end I ended up having the temperature up to 250 degree F and had had more melting and blistering on the coating and on the bottom on the grooves it was sagging in spots. I had it on heat for a total of 50 minutes till I finally took it off heat and put it in the mold. It wasn’t as flimsy and rubbery looking as what yours was in the video but it did sag down on the ends while carrying it to the mold. Any suggestions?
