When there are flashing lights, nothing showing on the panel and no code, what does it mean??
Those flashing red icons are incomplete readiness monitors. That means the vehicle isn't ready for a smog inspection. Each monitor represents an emissions system in the vehicle. When a monitor is flashing, it means that system is testing for "Pending" codes. You need to complete a drive cycle in order for those monitors to stop flashing. The vehicle is testing for potential check engine codes for those monitor systems. You need to drive the vehicle so the PCM can finish the testing for potential codes. The 5210 has instructions for completing incomplete monitors under "Drive Cycle Procedures" in the "Menu". The green ones that aren't flashing are complete readiness monitors. No signs of possible check engine codes for those systems.
Monitors are "Diagnostic Routines" programmed into the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PCM utilizes these programs to run diagnostic tests and monitor the operation of the vehicle's emissions-related components or systems to ensure they are operating correctly and within the vehicle's manufacturer specifications.
