Thanks for the video! My daughter bought the sidekick 4 years ago. Her lid broke - I think the silver part has both ends on it still. The underside of the lid broke right under 1 of the pins so the latch doesn't latch. Crazy, right? $200 for the entire lid assembly?! I bought a new open box sidekick on craigslist for $200 (and 6 hours of round trip driving to get it... I just can't pay or have family pay $200 or even $100 on ebay for that part). We'll take the lid off this on, put it on hers. (I found your video when looking for the right way to take the lid off). And sell parts from the whole unit on ebay / keep it for spare parts for her?! Wondering how your fix has worked out after 4 - 5 months? And yeah, you mention - this IS a common problem? Weasels! I always wonder about whether to get an extended warranty : ) And the plastic weld... from your experience, that's different than the typical 2 part epoxy (gorilla, etc.)?
Did same but new JB weld epoxy sets 4 or 5 hours. The part glued angles slightly and later installed snaps off, Redone it again same problem, Finally i drilled a screw and covered with epoxy o make is smooth and hold it in place. Trim cover shield doesn't want to snap back into place. Gaffer taped to hold the trim into place. Finally turned it on but sensor error code DD3. Lid latch is closed and secure. Otherwise making the washer useless.
