One of the things that makes the Beatles a cut above the rest is that on their best work (quite a bit of it!) every part is great. No filler or padding out the sound for the sake of it.
Giles Martin's remix really allows the song to fully blossom. In particular, George's vocal is rightfully in the center, and the stereo spread on the background vocals is glorious.
@@fretbuzz59 Unless done with intent it would be hard to get a bad mix of this song. Remember when this song was first released people were listening to it on a single small crappy dashboard speaker in a car via AM mono... and were still blown away. That said, I had commented some time ago that the production on this version of the song is the best I ever heard. Not sure of why, but my ear doesn't lie.
I got into The Beatles because of my dad. I didn’t grow up listening to tracks my dad put on around the house, he wasn’t the type. Rather, I helped my dad re-discover them by downloading their songs on his iPod so he could play them while driving. It was this exchange-young technology meeting old music-that managed to bring us closer to The Beatles and to each other. My dad passed last year but during his wake I made sure to play a lot of Beatles and Bob Marley-only happier tracks, including this one. When I listen to this now, I feel a bit sad but in a warm way. It makes me miss him but also makes me hope that wherever he is, he can hear this song and know that everyone is alright.

Everytime I hear this song it gives me nostalgia. When I was in 3rd grade, my music teacher was retiring. We sang her this song, but about a year later she sadly passed away. 6 years later, I still miss her everyday. R.I.P my music teacher
People who think this song is “simple” should know that there are three theoretical 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 in this song: Dmaj13#11, Edom13, and Bdom13. (This is possible because all three chords have a major sixth/thirteenth played on a melodic line. For example, “comes” at 0:19 is on a sixth/thirteenth.)
My daddy died August 13, 2020. Out of his three kids, I am the youngest at 40. I would sit in his room and he would play The Beatles on records. He had every single album and all their books, etc. He taught me about The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and all the other greats before my time and all from a record player in his bedroom. Thank you, Daddy. :)
My grandfather first showed me the Beatles when I was 5 years old. Basically, I grew up listening to them and trying to learn how to sing their songs (I'm from Brazil, so singing in English is a bit complicated for me, hahaha). And now, seeing after all these years that people still hear them, singing their songs is amazing ... Lennon and Harrison may no longer be with us, but the songs will never die!
I'm 60 years old and a lover of most all genres. The Beatles continues to reign as the best band across the board. Such a profound impact, for good reason.
NO artist in history has captured the sun coming out so beautifully. It is exquisite. Give the moment to Picasso, da Vinci or Monet and they couldn’t paint the moment at 2:05
It is much too easy to say it is a song of hope. While general feeling of hope is a byproduct as it goes deeper as George was very spiritual. I hear the song and it is more about acceptance. Some religions like Hare Krishna think we should only 'hope' to be with god not to desire material things. Everything thing else will fall into place. Acceptance of our place and things that come based on our good actions and that everything will be alright.
My grandmother died and this was one of her favorite songs. When I hear it makes me think of her all the time. She was the sun; she made everyone’s life better and she was just a wonderful person.
Honestly, i dont care what anyone says; The Beetles are one of, if not THE best band of all time. Their music is still fire to this day, which is bonkers
My grandmother used to sing this to me whenever I was down and felt alone as a child. It makes cry everytime I hear it. This really was life changing for me. Whenever I go to the cemetery to visit her, I sing it right back. Miss you Granny*

My fondest memory of This masterpiece was in 1979 on a tour bus traveling through Spain's gorgeous countryside! I was 15 years old on a Spanish class trip for 2 weeks which included visits to Casablanca and Tangiers Morocco. Whenever I hear this, it takes me right back to Spain.❤ The song filled me with a joy I hadn't felt since my mom passed away the previous year.
Aven well It wasn’t SUPPOSED to be depressing. What I meant was it could’ve been, but basically George wrote this song right after his mom was diagnosed with cancer and the big freeze in the uk. I’m sorry for being a bit misleading
When Paul said the Stones are an R&B cover band, even Mick and Keith had to kind of bite their tongues. They know, and so did The Beach Boys who went on the record and said Rubber Soul was genius that the conversation begins and ends with The Beatles, and I say that as someone who was born after they broke up.
Good heavens! I never knew George wrote this one. It's my all time favorite Beatles song. Always makes me happy. RIP George. You were even more awesome than I thought. ❤❤❤
I first heard this song as a little boy during the 70s when I was cooped up in the house. I wanted to go out and play, but it was raining. The rain stopped; the sun came out and this song was playing on the radio. Still my favorite song after 45 years.
As a Canadian and as I live through 5 months of harsh winters' with ice, cold and heavy snow this is the one song I love to play in Spring, and it so lightens up my mood....
I'm pushing 70 and have been listening to the Beatles since Love Me Do and yet they never bore me, I still get those goose pimples every time I hear their music.
I tear up when I listen to their beautiful creations. The songs remind me of when I was a young teen and I had my whole life ahead of me. I will always love the Beatles!
THIS is George's best song . . . and by a long shot. His output was always low. In Geoff Emerick's (Chief engineer from Revolver to Abbey Road) memoir, he says something like that. John and Paul had material to put out (if they wanted so) solo albums --full of hits, every 4 months or so! I lived through that period and I remember the hits arrived like a landslide. The radio was an "insufficient" means to play properly the amount of great tunes they released at times almost every week! "Let it be" (the album) shows it quite well. George's contribution seems "forced" and poor. While he played simple, basic blues-based tunes (For you Blue, I me Mine) Paul had ready: Junk, Tomorrow, Goodbye, etc. and a host of hit songs that he would release in his solo albums in the following year. And to top it off, he "threw in" for that album: Let it be, The Long and Winding Road, Two of us, I've got a Feeling, and Get Back. Small fries!
@@trane5270 I agree. Paul is a pop songwriter. George was magical. John's songs speak to me. Even though I'm female, much of John's writing has a big impact on me. He's my favorite.

Even the other Beatles said this was one of their best songs. At least from that album. Regardless.,. no small feat. It was too easy for both Ringo and George Harrison to get overshadowed by the Lennon/McCartney machine but they both managed to shine in their own right and that is a huge part of the magic that is/was The Beatles.
I think this is one of the best songs in this world. I’ve always thought John was the heart of the Beatles. Paul was the brain. George was the spirit. And Ringo was the muscle that made the songs move. 4 powerful components of one incredible band.
When i grow up that's what I will do to my son or daughter but to put them asleep mycdad would sing take me to out to the ball game and when he stopped doing that I felt so grown up like I didn't need it anymore but than my mental health started going down now every once in a while he sings it to me and my mom so my mental health is still pretty bad but better because of them and my friends but my friends were the most of the reason my mental health wasn't good not because they were bad friends because they moved so I couldn't talk to them but new friends helped me through it and some old friends that are still here. But this song and take me out to the ball game always cheers me up

This song makes me feel happy whenever I listen to it. Thank you Beatles.
Ringo deserves extra credit for making the drums sing along to the song.
this mix really does great justice putting drums forward
He's already Ringo. How much more credit could he get..
I think George needs more credit
Agreed, but how about the bass line and background vocals? The perfect song on all levels
One of the things that makes the Beatles a cut above the rest is that on their best work (quite a bit of it!) every part is great. No filler or padding out the sound for the sake of it.
This song still sounds fresh 54 years after it was recorded. Brilliant.
I say that to myself every time I hear it... Which I have been for quite some time.

Complexity was the Beatles way…
You can hear the layering is really profound in this song
Not simple at all

This moment of genius (one of the countless from The Beatles) has all the markings of a timeless classical masterpiece. It will endure forever.

I´m 80! Ditto
