Lovely tribute to a wonderful little movie that deserves to be MUCH better known. Perfect choice in music to accompany the video too! MOONRISE is a gem. Every character (Mose, Sheriff Otis, Billy) is realistically and perfectly portrayed, adding depth to to this dark, brooding yet ultimately hopeful look at Danny's tortured life. It is Gilly (Gail Russell) who is the heart and soul of MOONRISE. I doubt many of us in the audience would like Danny Hawkins (Superb Dane Clark role) very much if it weren't for Gilly's understanding and acceptance of Danny and her faith in him. Gail was a stunning beauty on screen, yet unlike most on screen beauty queens, Gail had a down-to-earth, girl-next-door magic that made her believable and touchable to the audience. Gilly provides some very touching and sweet moments that gives MOONRISE so much heart and depth. Moments such as the adorable way Gilly creates a Civil War dance in the abandoned mansion with she and Danny in attendance. MOONRISE is so good it will be viewed again and again, as its depth cannot be measured on one simple viewing.
