If you do the maths you could buy the higher trim level Sandero, and then employ someone at £30,000 per year salary to just sit in the back and provide massages, hand you beverages, provide additional navigation help, select songs on spotify etc. You could do that for almost 7 years.
I was really thinking the other day about what should I choose, the Dacia Sandero or some Bentley, and after seeing this video I decided to keep using the bus because neither of them comes with a chauffeur as the bus does.

I love that you pronounce Dacia the way we do it in Romania. Not like everyone else “daysha”. I have the new Logan and it is lovely. About the massages and beverages, if you live in Romania and you go to a road trip, automatically the ones in the back are the beverage and snack suppliers and they massage you from time to time :)))

Thats some great content! Nothing is worse than motor journalists being badge snobs, which is actually quite common. Rory shows you can playfully review down to earth cars if you have enough wit to do that.
Excellent and very enjoyable review! So I bought Dacia Sandero Stepway Comfort for my grandpa as a gift, because his old car just died one day and I didn't want him to bother with second hand cars anymore. Honestly, I chosen this car not because of the price of the car itself, but because how adequate it is. You get what you need - great fuel economy, low taxes, reliability, cheap parts, this is a breeze to maintain. Also the Stepway version is super nice to drive in the country side where roads are quite bumpy because of its higher clearence. Does it have many extras? Thankfully not! The excessive amount of technologies in modern cars started to get in my way, not to mention how intimidating they could be for an old man who just want to travel from A to B for little money. The car has everything needed though. Superb climate control, all electric windows and mirrors, adjustable steering wheel, and some nice interior and exterior design. For me the design is not only good for its class but even outside of it. Great car, Dacia!
Great review. In South Africa we have a straight Renault sandero and step way my friend has the stepway it’s great value for money. I personally have a Polo Vivo and for price I paid the Renault is wayyy better🥺👋🏾
I think its complimenting both of them. Next to Sandero you can really appreciate the Bentley and Sanderos compliment is that its being compared to Bentley.
Finally someone on top gear who knows what people want from a basic car and understands that, that cars audience don’t care about track times just functionality
Will never happen I'm afraid. Even Renault cut the Clio RS and Megane RS will most likely just get 1 more version and then call it off. EU regulations are forcing them to go electric or hybrid on all "cheap" models and that leaves only the Alpine brand, under Renault to remain petrol and sportscar, but not cheap at all :(
I would like to add 'my 2 cents'. My son brought a Sandero from new in 2017 (obviously a previous model to the one tested by Rory). This had a 75 ps 3 cyl 0.9L petrol engine, with 5 speed manual transmission. When I had a chance to drive and travel in his car, I was impressed. It was roomy, the engine performance was good enough. Also it was a lot of car for the money. When he purchased the car from the Renault showroom, it seemed that a similar sized Renault (Cleo I think) was 30-40% more expensive. From what my son said, it was relatively economical and has proved reliable, it has never let him down. When I needed a car, I didn't want to 'break the bank', so I looked at the Stepway (which is a Sandero body on a slightly taller suspension, with some roof bars and extra outside trim). The model I went for had the 90ps version of the same size engine my son had, with the same 5 speed transmission. It also had parking sensors and speed limit/cruise control as well as inbuilt Sat navigation. All this for approx. £10500 (in 2019). How has it performed in the 3 years I have had the vehicle? It has been excellent. Firstly, reliability has been bombproof. It never let me down. It's a comfortable car to go shopping in and go on longer trips. It's economy has been excellent. Running around town I get high 30's or low 40's (miles per imperial gallon) . For longer trips (on the Motorway/A roads) I try to tease 50 mpg for the whole trip. Though it has to be said, when we switched from E5 (97+ octane) to E10 (95 octane) petrol in the UK, I noticed a slight degradation in economy (I haven't noticed a performance difference). I am not saying the car is perfect, but no car is. Here are some of my (somewhat minor) niggles. The boot lip is quite high, getting heavy objects into the boot can be bit of a struggle. As a consequence, the painted boot lip has got 'bashed around' a bit, with the paint scuffed. Sometimes, in bright sunshine I can't easily see the instruments, so I have to turn the sidelights on to see the speedometer. There are other things I could mention, but they are pretty minor. As an aside, my son discovered something odd about his (I found the same for my car). One day he stopped in the supermarket to do some some shopping. As he stopped, he could hear liquid slopping around. He investigated, with his door open. He found the drain plugs on the underside of the door. Once he took the plugs out, about a litre of water came streaming out. It turns out that when it rains on the side windows, some of that rain gets passed the seals and seeps into the doors. I checked this with my car and sure enough quite a lot of water came out. I now routinely check after rain if there is any fluid in the doors. Would I buy one again? Absolutely, without a moments hesitation. However, I am awaiting to see how the current energy inflation is 'panning out', in terms how much fuel will cost and what the UK governments attitude is to fossil fueled vehicles (there current plan is to 'phase out' fossil fueled vehicles by 2030. However, this strategy was set before the Ukraine crisis and our vulnerability to energy price shocks was exposed.

Recently bought a Stepway here in Romania, the orange colour, all options and I paid just over 13.5k EUR for it. Drives nice, has all the features I want, runs on LPG as well (which costs me a fiver a week) as petrol. Came with a years free insurance, 5 years warranty and 5 years servicing.
I love this review. It puts everything into context. Most of the features on the Bentley are toffee - just like wicker picnic baskets or silver fish knives - nobody actually uses them.
Dacia make absolutely decent cars at amazing prices. To me a car is a tool and that's why I bought a Sandero about 8 months back as it was half the price of similar cars I was looking at. Already, I've decided my next car will be a Dacia also. Paying more just doesn't make any sense to me. If you have a lot of money and want the very best on the market it might not be the car for you but for most people they are great.
My wife gave up being a car enthusiast when she sold her MX-3 V6. Since it's been family & work cars. The past 3-4 years she has been driving company fleet vehicles. Peugeot, Citroen and Renault. by far the most satisfying was the Sandero. When I told her the others were some 60% more to buy, "where is the value ?" she said. Her current own car is a Suzuki Swift. A budget hoot to drive here in the country.
Rory's car reviews never get boring! He gets down to the most important details you get in a car. I tend to see other car journalists which would be "ashamed" to be reviewing something like the Sandero but Rory makes you feel like a winner if you buy one. Which practically speaking, you'd always be a winner buying a turbo-charged 3 cylinder Dacia than one of these rubbish single-clutch Kia Picanto and Hyundai i10 they sell nowadays. Even on long travels the Sandero is argueably fine, it gets you from one point to another and saves you money on vacations for example for the long run.

As James May sayed in the past: Dacia is the most honest European car manufacturer! Compared to other brands, you get more than what you pay, meaning you get more car, with less money! My first car was a Dacia Logan MCV, for which I paid at that time less than 10,000 euros. Before you say it's an unsafe car, I'll tell you something: it saved my life! After, through my own fault, I hit 4 trees at 120 km / h and stopped in the fifth. Obviously, after that it was just a wreck, but the way it behaved on impact earned me respect ... I'm alive and I'll tell you what I'm telling you today because the engineers, even if they didn't fill it with electronic safety systems, they filled it with reinforcements! Therefore, I always recommend Dacia!
A car should be a car, these days ppl want their car to be like a house with all the luxury devices, aircon, powers steering , a radio and airbags is the most u need
I am from Malaysia, and we do have a car just like that of our own as well, It's called the Perodua Axia, and yes It also has a lifted version called the Axia Style. It cost the equivalent of just £5000 pounds brand new.
Owned one 6yrs. From new. The only issue has been a German part failed. One Glow plug. Other than services, discs and pads that's it. Even the factory supplied tyres lasted 50000 miles. Mines a 1.5 dci. Sits on the driveway and traffic jams in ease and returns 65mpg.
It's literally a Clio, all the negatives like drum brakes are the same on a Clio. And anyone who knows cars know why all cars used to have drum brakes rear. Most the braking force is over the front wheels. I have owned a Duster mk2 for 2 years and can't fault it. Best value of money I have spent, and car has barely devalued.
That's normal unless you got a wonky car and/or can't drive stick properly. So long you rev-match perfectly, any manual can be driven buttery smooth unless the gearbox is messed up.
He generally didn’t suit top gear but his presentation style here is so good I’m almost thinking he should host top gear again. It’s wired maybe top gear just can’t replace the famous trio
Great video! Dacia is a decent choice for people who simply need a car to get from A to B but cannot afford to pay too much for it. I mean... it's a real car, for 8k! And it's not even ugly!
Cory, top reviews always. Many thanks. Even if we don't get the Dacias in Canada. Always watch and appreciate your professional reviews. Kudos to you. First saw you and TB and you have certainly hit your stride. Excellent work!
Useless comparison, because in Switzerland, you can buy it with a few salaries to hold onto it a few years until the warranty expires, and many people buy it as their second car. In Romania, people spend one year of their economies to a buy a car, so they want more comfort. Still, buying a dead-ass BMW is definitely not the answer, but a second-hand 3 years old i30 for instance might be a better option.
@@mirceastan94 bullshit, Citroen is the comfort brand (which is why I bought a C3 in 2018), but most Romanians buy German cars with rigid suspension because they are status symbols, pure stupidity, Citroens are affordable and their strenght is comfort from the suspension setup to the seats, but even women in Romania have it in their head that a BMW badge is a status symbol, do you think they go test-driving various car brands to see whats more confortable and actually affordable as new or they just look up a second hand BMW or Golf? it's the later new generation dacias also have soft suspension setup and maybe a bit more inferior seats than citroen's comfy chairs
@@dsadawrware That's exactly what I said, they are wrong buying a dead ass german car one doesn't want anymore, the best choice is somewhere in the middle - an almost new i30/Megane/Clio.

It's literally a Clio, all the negatives like drum brakes are the same on a Clio. And anyone who knows cars know why all cars used to have drum brakes rear. Most the braking force is over the front wheels.
I have owned a Duster mk2 for 2 years and can't fault it. Best value of money I have spent, and car has barely devalued.
anyone else notice how smooth the gear changes are? 4:03
I genuinely liked this video! You got yourself a new subscriber 👍
Wow they really made the new Sandero look nice! Back end of the old ones was a bit ugly especially, but the updated model looks great!
As a Romaniai I really enjoyed this video. Liked!
The very fact that he decided to even compare sandero to a car 20 times its price makes it a winner.
Great video! Dacia is a decent choice for people who simply need a car to get from A to B but cannot afford to pay too much for it. I mean... it's a real car, for 8k! And it's not even ugly!
honestly the car looks really nice, i'd change out the rims for real alloys but the look is a good starting point imo.
Cory, top reviews always. Many thanks. Even if we don't get the Dacias in Canada. Always watch and appreciate your professional reviews. Kudos to you. First saw you and TB and you have certainly hit your stride. Excellent work!
Rory ❤️
Finally someone pronounced Dacia correctly!
220k goes just as Fast on a Motorway as the 8k as they both can only do 70mph
Amazing Intro. Killing it boss man. Absolutely killing it
Switzerland: a lot of them on streets
Romania : they don't even wanna hear about them, they prefer a cheap ass VW G4, they say is much better build
"Dar la ce mi trebuie mie dacie mancati as? Ia caruta aia de aici, uite masina adevarata, bemvee tata"

@@mirceastan94 bullshit, Citroen is the comfort brand (which is why I bought a C3 in 2018), but most Romanians buy German cars with rigid suspension because they are status symbols, pure stupidity, Citroens are affordable and their strenght is comfort from the suspension setup to the seats, but even women in Romania have it in their head that a BMW badge is a status symbol, do you think they go test-driving various car brands to see whats more confortable and actually affordable as new or they just look up a second hand BMW or Golf? it's the later
new generation dacias also have soft suspension setup and maybe a bit more inferior seats than citroen's comfy chairs
@@dsadawrware That's exactly what I said, they are wrong buying a dead ass german car one doesn't want anymore, the best choice is somewhere in the middle - an almost new i30/Megane/Clio.
first uk guy to say dacia correctly! mad respect bro
The concept and execution of this video were truly excellent! Really well done!
GOOD NEWS!
😂 haha, nice
*W H A T ?*
I want more videos od comparing the cheapest with the most expensive. Amazing video.
Having owned the Dacia Logan Mcv Dci version for the past 5 years can't knock the car... Its been reliable and started everytime with no issues... Good for shopping and travelling because of the massive boots pace... Good on fuel most time only topping once a month and also very much tax and Ulez free. What's not to like
This is my favourite Rory review
This was the best Dacio advert ever.
No entiendo ingles pero el presentador es agradable y amable!Felicidades!
Nobody does reviews like Rory. Love them.
Such a missed oportunity to open with:"Good news!"
