Somehow I remember beating the game as Liu Kang when I was much younger. I beat Kintaro with the same strategy this guy used. Honestly jump kicking works half the time with these older games

Still proud of how smooth this game runs. They should remake it with more combos and moves. I got the arcade version, and the animation to button response is lost in the current MK titles.
this game set the standard for sequels, fighting games sequels were basically the same game with more moves, stages etc this was completely blew me away when I first saw and played it, beyond any expectation
It's a matter of setting up the moves right after the kick, like tapping back on the stick while in midair. Back in the days of the arcade, you'd be surprised at some of the combos folks could pull.
@PSJukkis. His stage is D,F,F, block. Toasty is D,D,U,U, HP (hold block). Spear slice is D,F,F,F (hold HP close). Dead pool(for everyone) hold LK,LP, get close then D,HP.
It's really not THAT hard. There's a super easy strategy to beat him. (Jump kick spam). It works about 90% of the time, but sometimes kintaro doesn't go for it. Now getting a double flawless fighting him regularly would be beyond difficult. It's funny I used to think of this game as one of the toughest ever , til 20 years later I found out how to cheese the shit out of it

The first round, he treated Kintaro with dignity. But Kintaro kept doing the same thing over and over again. Scorpion had to lower the level of his tactics, and while effective, it was less than impressive.
Yup that's about the only way to consistently win against him. A double flawless isn't hard using that method once you got the timing down. But kintaro falls for that 9/10 but for some reason some encounters with him he won't do it

I remember the first time I beat Kintaro I let out an involuntary yell and the bartender realized I wasn’t with a parent and she kicked me out lol, luckily she was cool and let me get my ass whooped by Shao Kahn before asking my leave LOL GOOD TIMES
May have grew up in this era, but never picked up a MK game by the looks of it... Being “skilled” at this is For 1.Stupid, These games compared to now arn’t complex, and don’t need you to do insane combos to be “good”. Being good is beating the game...nothing more. 2.Just because you grew up in the era of this game doesn’t make you any expert. Not to mention with fighting games like this. Back then, one of the only ways to win street fighter or MK was to exploit with characters, which this guy did successfully. And he beat it...making him good at Mk2
I was just paying attention to how fast he plays! To play at this speed he needs to play the mega drive version. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the SNES port. But, the pile of dog puke kicks like a mule. And I’ll put it up against any home version. Genesis is fast.
I think most people of the gamer age are too young to remember this or appreciate it. This is really nestalgic for me, i played these old MK games on Sega with my older brother in the early 90s
I made it to Kintaro tonight on the old school arcade. Looks like the flying kick for him and the uppercut for Shao Kahn. I'll give it another shot in a day or two
you cant belive that this is on the same system as alex kid or shinobi limited animation/movement game. It shows what is possible if you have creativity and talent. Only a few games has still this freshness in animation. Earthworm jim ect......
