🟥 DISCLAIMER: I make these videos to share my own personal methods and techniques for how I make cold process soap. These videos are not intended as tutorials for beginners. The content I create is meant for those who already have an understanding of cold process soap making. Cold process soapmaking involves working with sodium hydroxide (NaOH, also referred to as lye). Lye and raw soap can permanently damage your eyes and burn your skin. When making soap, you should already know and practice lye safe handling procedures and always wear safety gear during the entire soapmaking process, even while cleaning up. I hope you find watching my videos helpful or entertaining. However, due to the many variables that can affect a particular batch of soap, if you do try any of my methods or techniques that I use in my videos, I cannot be held liable or responsible for your results.

Thank you so much for the rhubarb soap suggestion! It’s fun using a pH sensitive colorant. After 4 weeks, the soaps are still the magenta red you see in the final photos. I haven’t tried the other Botanical Colors Himalayan rhubarb (Rheum emodi) yet, but I’ll post a photo to my community feed as soon as I do.
Thanks so much for watching! -Holly :)

I am new to all this but absolutely love soap making. I am losing my job in July and am hoping I can just have fun with this a create. I absolutely love watching your videos. This all started because I was trying to eliminate plastic and unnecessary ingredients in the products our family uses. It has become very additive and I just love it. I love how the soaping community is so friendly, helpful, and encouraging. I hope to learn and be able to create like you do.

Holly I just made my soap it was so fascinating watching the changes, ever tried taking photos with non dominant hand whilst mixing in gloves crazy, it’s a beautiful bright deep cherry red now in the oven CPO ing I added I tbs kaolin to hopefully help the essential oil last. I used Essential oils Frankincense & Cedarwood but had to resort to Fragrance Lavender as my Essential oil hasn’t arrived in time. I’m still learning on fragrances but this combo smelt good so hoping it lasts. Thanks again to you and beautiful Tanya.

I love himalayan rhubarb! Please try it after infusing for 4 weeks as about 30-35% of your oils to get a pastel pink colour!!!! Remember to only use to the undisturbed yellow oil from the top of the infusion to get pastel pink! I love the deep burgundys and reds and coral colours you got, such beautiful soap. Btw this recipe is very much like my main recipe only i use less shea and more cocoa butter and a tad more olive oil.

I have the Starwest Botanicals one. And your right, adding it as a powder to the soap batter creates an almost brick color. Thankfully it kinda worked for the soap I was making. (Candy cane swirl). It gave it a Victorian Christmas look.
I can’t cpop my soap to make the most of natural colorants. The best I can do is insulate.

Hi Holly, thank you so much for making this video, I was anxiously waiting for it because I wanted to see how it turned out before I used my rhubarb power and now I see 😃🥰, I love it! I purchased the Starwest Botanical one, so now I am excited to see how mine turns out, I can't wait to make it now lol!! I like the middle one you made the best, hopefully I can get some of that one. Your soaps do come out so shiny and pretty, do you steam them? I kinda liked the the one you put the powder in the lye, but, the others are the prettiest . When I make mine I will let you know how it turned out 😊. Stay safe sweet lady. 🙂💞

Hi Holly 👋 this is so lovely 😍 but curious if for a future video you could possibly make a soap @ a 1.1 water lye ratio and if given the right balance of fatty acids and temp on the recipe 😀 a intricate design can be achieved? Lol this is some what like a challenge. Would love to see that! All the best 👍

If you add botanical powders to the lye water, you will burn it and the colour won’t be vibrant but a brown. Best not to add to lye water. Add to oils and wait until your lye water has cooled down before adding to your oils. That will ensure vibrancy. The rhubarb colour is absolutely mouth watering delicious and lush.

Hi Holly, you asked me to let you know how my rhubarb power soap turned out, I liked the botanical one from Amazon, but it didn't turn out as red and pretty, so I ordered some from Yarn Tree, I haven't tried it yet but I am anxious to do so soon lol, I will let you know soon as I do, I've just been really busy. 😊💞

Just curious if it will stain washcloths being an herb..? Have you tested it out yet. I’m interested in trying this out ❤️

Hello Holly i am wanting to do a soap this color but with pomegranate juice instead of water do you think i would still be able to cpop it? or would it get too hot due to sugar in juice? i think the rhubarb will make the perfect color for pom soap. ty

Holly, where did you buy your owl guest soap mold? Thanks. I really like that red.

So in order to get the beautiful pinkish color the powder has to be infused?

Hi Holly, what a beautiful soap! Does it create colored lather or leave any stains on the washcloth?

Thank you! The soaps produce a white lather, and I had no issues with stains on cloth.
