I think there's another meaning to the rewatch of the TV show, that being that Owen is not allowing themself to escape their reality anymore, not allowing themself to live as Isabelle in the screen. Now it's just a silly show they used to watch. It's bad, it's shameful, and it is no longer allowed to mean anything. In a way, the movie also very much wants its audience to continue fantasizing, to keep allowing itself to be childish.
