Really helpful. I go to a private clinic for my prescription and annual review. Best thing I've done as my doctor refused ...i am now on the estrogel utrogestan and testim and have got my old self back. Thanks for your insight and information that you provide to advise and guide us to a better second half of life..
Thank you Liz, you didn't overshare. It's nice to see I am not alone. I got oestrogen and progesterone, both natural from the GP, but while the GP surgery does prescribe testosterone, I had get it from Newson Health, where I saw a doctor, virtually. The GP surgery computer interpreted my testosterone blood numbers as normal, but I get symptoms. The Angel I saw virtually at Newson Health not only prescribed me testosterone, of which I am on week 7, she also explained the numbers in my blood test and why testosterone might not be available in my body. I went to the GP last week for Intrarosa. The nice GP but "Intrarosa" in his computer, and it said primary care cannot prescribe, so I got the vagifem and am on day 3 of it. I see the angel doctor at Newson Health online in March for a follow up, while Newson Health don't think we should go private, and private healthcare is expensive, my symptoms make life really miserable for me, and it is my hope that Newson Health pass me back once my hormones are balanced. My heart breaks for women who cannot get on HRT/TRT.
Great film thank you. I have been on oestrogel for over 10 years and aged 64 I’m fitter with less health problems than my friends, which, as I’m no gym bunny, I absolutely put down to my HRT. I did use a pea sized dose of testosterone (for women) I felt stronger and my sex drive was fantastic but unfortunately my voice went slightly deeper and I grew a few dark hairs on my face so after 2 years I stopped it. I believe that the NHS could save a lot of money by getting more women on HRT because it will decrease other illnesses, falls from physical weakness and dementia. I’m grateful for it every day.
Thank you Liz just came across your channel and subscribed. I went through early menopause at 36yrs old (I’m now 65) I was prescribed HRT, to keep me on par with everyone else by the time I was 50, re: osteoporosis etc., But I stopped taking it myself after a few years due to cancer scares over the news at the time. I now have been using Vagifem for 6mths awful vaginal dryness and 2 months ago was diagnosed with Lichen Sclerosis I’d never heard of it! I was prescribed a steroid cream, as part of my Vulva seems to have shrunk back. I’m back to see doctor this month, there doesn’t seem to be any cure for it what I have read about. I don’t know anyone with this condition that I have been able to talk to. Really enjoyed listening to you xx
Try using Replens vaginal moisturiser in between the vagifem. It's not a hrt. To help with the internal dryness and a Vulva moisturiser which is not hrt on vulva itself. You can get them on line and sometimes in Pharmacy / health shop. Apply It as often as you need it. It really helps. Just keeps everything more hydrated and your not as sore. There is a shop on line called the skin shop. It sells all these products. I had hrt /vagifem for 20 years as I had full hysterectomy at 39. I'm 60 now and been off both HRT for 8 years. Now use vaginal moisturiser and vulva cream. Really helps. It might sting at first because you're dry but it will definitely help you. Good Luck
Your condition is caused by Lack of hormones. Everything gets dry and shrinks, sometimes there are white patches on your intimate areas It's a very common condition for us ladies. I have it. It's important to keep a check on the area. If you notice any white patches or anything different. Get a check with your doctor. Just to make sure it's nothing else. Hope this helps.
So useful to learn about gel applied to warm skin can be absorbed more! Thanks for sharing this Liz, I think the more we normalise it the more hope we have of reaching more people who need it, and educating the medical profession!
Great info, explained simply. Thank you. My Dr was very unhelpful at the start but I had my facts and eventually I got HRT. It's marvellous, been on it 3 years but when I turned 60 the questions from GP started again, trying to put me off taking it. I've stuck to my guns 😂 and am v happy to cont for many years.
Thank you for sharing. We’re all women experiencing the same thing, so it’s wonderful to see this interaction! I take Premique slow release HRT tablet ( I kept losing the patches) and also Vagifem 3-4 times a week. I seem to be doing ok.
Many thanks Liz, really helpful & so much more informative than the GP. I also have osteopenia - diagnosed approx 6 years ago due to late onset Coeliac disease. I’ve been back on HRT for a few years - approx 4-5 & same products as you & feel great. Need repeat prescription but GP not really happy for me to have it - I said it was good for osteopenia issue but he advised it was not prescribed for that - also does not think I should still be on HRT as I will be 65 in March, I keep fit & agile, do weights , Pilates etc & work in London 3 days per week/ 2 At home 🤷♀️. I’ve been off HRT for 3 weeks & experiencing the usual symptoms- sleep issues, hot moments, tiredness, occasional heart palpitations…. However, after your post today I am going back to GP armed with the facts - I wasn’t aware of positive effects re heart & type 2 diabetes. One question why do you have testosterone as well? Thank you so much, you are a star. Sue 🙏🥰🤗
My GP seemed happy to prescribe testosterone after I fractured my wrist. Then I had a dexa scan which showed slight ostopaenia. Think it might be helpful for that?

Hi Liz! I am at a bit of a loss, regarding Menopause supplement support. Having watched your videos, I plucked up courage, to go to my GP, having asked to see the Menopause specialist. At that point, I had been using a product called Menocool (Which is based on hops), this had worked well, but the company just seemed to have 'disappeared', and was out of contact. When the Clinical Nurse specialist realised that I had had a radical hysterectomy aged 51, due to Endometrial Carcinoma, (I am now mid 60'), she said; "YOU can't have HRT!" I was shocked and upset, but managed to ask; 'What should I do, then?', and she said, "Go to Boots." I am a week into taking Dr. Vegan menopause capsules, which have Yams as part of their ingredient list, but no results as yet. Please can you offer some help/guidance, as to what else I might do? Many thanks, love Sue xxx

Very useful. Thank you. I buy an oestrogen/progesterone gel online, plus have Vagifem prescribed (when I was diagnosed with Lichen Sclerosis). Once we have moved this year, I am going to have a review with my new GP and see how knowledgeable they are (current GP is hopeless and it takes a long time to get referred to a specialist). Otherwise we will budget for me to go to Newson Health - and have blood test/scan - and get the very best options for me sorted out. My current regime is helping, but I think it could be better.
Thanks so much for sharing your hrt regime and explaining so clearly. I am on Estrogel after a full hysterectomy for endometriosis. I have now been told I should have had progesterone prescribed too as a preventative measure . Stopping the endo coming back. This would be an interesting area as there isn't a lot of information on this . Gps just don't know :( it's so frustrating and again you feel women's health isn't taking seriously. 🙏💞
I'm not sure if I'm a 'poor absorber' or just need a higher dose than the 100mcg patch gives. I'm 57, and have M.E. and auto-immune conditions, so I'm thinking there's a connection between higher doses needed and inflammatory conditions. Hopefully someone can research that. I'm currently using 125mcg of Evorel, from NHS on the condition that I have BP tested every few months. Intrarosa not available yet where I am in Glasgow. I'm currently using Estriol 1mg cream. It really helps with dryness, but I've heard that in the USA, estradiol cream is the standard treatment, not estriol, and some US meno specialists have said only local estradiol is actually effective against atrophy. Should we be concerned about this in the UK? Thank you so much Liz for keeping the importance of HRT up there in the mediasphere , it's a lifeline for so many women, including me 💛xx

Where I live in Scotland (Grampian NHS) we have not been able to see a GP since covid, I actually have no mechanism to get medical help if I need it. We are considering moving house as we are worried that as we get older and may need to see a doctor we will not be able to. I pay to see a private specialist for my HRT, which is very similar to Liz's prescription, it is an essential part of my life and I have no other option.
I was only on one pump Lenzetto with the progesterone pill and I gradually started really hives up my arms and inside thighs, in the end I felt so poorly I had to stop taking it which is annoying because I have osteoporosis. I think I will probably have to see a hormone specialist privately to get it resolved. :(
I have used the lenzetto spray which was really convenient but felt the 2-3 sprays were a bit hit and miss on how much estradiol was dispensed. Have been using 3 pumps of the oestrogel and still having symptoms so GP did a blood test to see how I absorb oestrogen. GP said my levels were low at 152 but told me to carry on with 3 pumps 🤔 Might go back to the Newson clinic for a second opinion 🙏
This was super informative. Thank you. As someone with past breast cancer I was advised NOT to go near HRT and I know I would benefit from it. Do you have any podcasts, or lives that cover this as a subject and what people that are currently going through BC or have had it previously can do.
Hi there - we have this podcast on breast cancer and HRT that may be of interest to you ❤️ lizearlewellbeing.com/podcast/breast-cancer-hrt-kirsty-lang-dr-sarah-glynne/
Hello. I have been using HRT for years. I’m 57. I take estradiol in a pill form that is compounded at a pharmacy. I take progesterone, even though I’ve had a hysterectomy, because I kept my ovaries. My naturopathic doctor prescribes it. I also take testosterone compounded. You are correct, it is very expensive, but worth it.
Fantastic video…my GP has never done a blood test and I have struggled to get the dose right. I played around until I got it right for me. I was getting a monthly bleed but occasionally get a breakthrough bleed mid month, is this normal?
Hi thank you for your very good video yes i have had the problem with uti infections and use the vaginal tablets you showed on screen, I took hrt tablets for many years, this was a very good informative video thamks.
Thank you Liz. I am 65 and have taken HRT for 5 years now. However my GP has said the risks increase the longer you take it and particularly if you are 65 and over. Feeling confused! :(
I’ve loved Barb’s natural remedies over the years, Especially gentle and effective for our young son. I Would love to know about natural yam as my friends always question me over my choice of prescribed HRT. I would never swap now though, as it took me over 2 years to get the dose right and be symptom free.
Barbara oneill is wonderful and has great remedies but I am a qualified herbalist and naturopath as well as a nurse and much to the surprise of some of my friends and colleagues I could not control my symptoms even with natural wild yam so I am on full HRT it's been 2 years but it's been so helpful for me!
Thanks for sharing! I recently was prescribed vaginal oestrogen for rUTI, worked great when I took daily but symptoms returned when I dropped to bi-weekly. Do you take more often? Is that advised?
❤❤I was on mireena coil but it was misplaced and inbeded on my cervix, I was also on estradot patch 100mg! I stopped absorbing so the Dr put me on oestragel 2pumps morning 2 pumps evening! And I use the utragestran peasary 200mg as I suffer from pms all my life ,orally didn't get on with it. Sometimes I get breakthrough bleeding it's only been since September change progesterone 😮 I also use vagifem My dr want give me testosterone 😮 My menopause symptoms Uriany incontinence and sleep apnea urine infections frequently and anxiety now and then
This is a very common condition which happens when you're post menopause .it's due to lack of hormones . Your Vagina, vulva, and all the surrounding tissues dry out and lose elasticity . You can get itching , burning and a white plaque form on your intimate area . Sometimes vagifem is not enough . Although
Ask your GP for a blood test You'll need to have taken the standard 2 pumps for at least 2 months The blood test will determine whether you're absorbing enough to increase your oestrogen levels If not, you'll take more 3 or 4 pumps in total- your gp will guide based on your blood results Re test hormone levels month 4 & so on until you're oestrogen is at the right level
My friend had this so I told her to get her doc to do a blood level test to see how much she is retaining..her original doc refused but she went back and saw a newly qualified locum and she agreed, did it and as a result is now on 3 pumps instead of 2 and feels soo much better..so go back to your doctor and push for it....
Really helpful. I go to a private clinic for my prescription and annual review. You are so welcome! ❤
Liz do you take the Utrogestan every day or for 2 weeks in a month? Thx
She uses it every day ❤️
I couldn’t absorb Sandrena. I’m on Lenzetto now and works a treat!
❤
Fantastic video…my GP has never done a blood test and I have struggled to get the dose right. I played around until I got it right for me. I was getting a monthly bleed but occasionally get a breakthrough bleed mid month, is this normal?
Lots of women may experience breakthrough bleeding, but we'd advise speaking to your doctor for advice and to check this out thoroughly ❤️
Can you buy the intrarosa without a prescription
It requires a prescription ❤️ www.balance-menopause.com/menopause-library/what-is-intrarosa-and-how-do-i-use-it/
I’ve had a hysterectomy but take utrogestan because I had endometriosis

Thank you Liz. I am 65 and have taken HRT for 5 years now. However my GP has said the risks increase the longer you take it and particularly if you are 65 and over. Feeling confused! :(
Hopefully this video is helpful to you - Liz recently recorded a piece on taking HRT after 60 instagram.com/p/DA76MCQonr_/ ❤️
What do you think of Barbara O’Neil who just recommends natural yam cream and no pharmaceuticals? What about the titanium dioxide In Utrogestan?
I’ve loved Barb’s natural remedies over the years, Especially gentle and effective for our young son. I Would love to know about natural yam as my friends always question me over my choice of prescribed HRT. I would never swap now though, as it took me over 2 years to get the dose right and be symptom free.
We aren't familiar with Barbara O’Neill ❤️

Barbara oneill is wonderful and has great remedies but I am a qualified herbalist and naturopath as well as a nurse and much to the surprise of some of my friends and colleagues I could not control my symptoms even with natural wild yam so I am on full HRT it's been 2 years but it's been so helpful for me!
I have just begun using the cream Barbara mentioned. I hope it works. I'm sufferring chronic brutal insomnia.
Thanks for sharing! I recently was prescribed vaginal oestrogen for rUTI, worked great when I took daily but symptoms returned when I dropped to bi-weekly.
Do you take more often? Is that advised?
We'd advise speaking to your doctor before changing your prescription ❤️

You’re welcome 😊
Which brand is your oestrogen gel ? I feel same re the kenzetto & increaed to x 3 pumps - this May solve all !
Believe it's Besins www.balance-menopause.com/menopause-library/oestrogel-packaging-what-you-need-to-know/ ❤️
This is a very common condition which happens when you're post menopause .it's due to lack of hormones . Your
Vagina, vulva, and all the surrounding tissues dry out and lose elasticity . You can get itching , burning and a white plaque form on your intimate area . Sometimes vagifem is not enough .

Brilliant advice but if the prescription says 2 pumps how do you know your body needs more? Thank you
Ask your GP for a blood test
You'll need to have taken the standard 2 pumps for at least 2 months
The blood test will determine whether you're absorbing enough to increase your oestrogen levels
If not, you'll take more 3 or 4 pumps in total- your gp will guide based on your blood results
Re test hormone levels month 4 & so on until you're oestrogen is at the right level
You'll need to speak to your doctor before changing your prescription ❤
My friend had this so I told her to get her doc to do a blood level test to see how much she is retaining..her original doc refused but she went back and saw a newly qualified locum and she agreed, did it and as a result is now on 3 pumps instead of 2 and feels soo much better..so go back to your doctor and push for it....
Do you get any bleeding/spotting with higher doses
Please speak to your doctor if you are experiencing this ❤️
I take HRT patches and vagifem. I have never been offered testosterone. Why is testosterone needed too?xxx
Here's an article on our website on testosterone lizearlewellbeing.com/health/the-menopause/signs-low-testosterone-women/ ❤️
I spend 70 euro per month on HRT. Money very well spent. It should be freely available to all. I am blest that I can (just about) afford it all.
❤️
Yey the video we’ve been waiting for! But Liz doesn’t say if she uses testosterone every day?
Yes she does use it every day ❤️
❤

I find it alarming to see celebrity endorsement of prescription drugs to be honest. If you want information on prescription medicines ask your GP.
Yes, please speak to your doctor - this is just Liz's prescription and her experience, as we've received so many messages asking about it ❤
Really helpful. Thank you 🙏🏻
