Don't call it a SUV. It's a hard top jeep similar to the Thar but smaller and lighter. Basically an all terrain man's vehicle and not a family car. I have owned the Maruti 800, Omni and Gypsy long ago. Lightweight and easy to maintain but not safe at high speeds. The Jimny will be more of a fashion statement for younger people. Will be good on plantations, forests and rural areas especially on hill stations.

This is an offroading vehicle made into lifestyle to appeal to indian market... Gypsy with stock tyre performs so well... Hence the logic behind small tyres... Engine cc is irrelevant what is more important is power to weight ratio... More engine power also means more consumption.... Overall I think jimny will be a winner but all that will depend on pricing...

The only barometer of public acceptance is the count of a particular car available in used car market in first 2 years of launch. Currently there are quite a bunch of Thars available in used car market after 2.5 years of its launch. Compare that number to the Jimny in next two years and then it will give an idea if public accepted it crazily or gave a lukewarm response. Remember globally it is extremely hit with the audience with waiting time of 12-14 months. In foreign market such a huge waiting time is very rare. Also compare 1st gen thar and the old jypsy and everyone knows which is more popular.
Zeta not Delta...i already have a 2018 gypsy and booked the Zeta manual in jan. If it's price goes above 12 lakhs on road then there is no point in buying it. Hope to get Ironman accessories for it...
Very objective review. All pros /cons are noted and deduction points to Jimny being a good candidate for hilly-narrow road. I think it is going to be a fantastic one for hilly area of NER. So I decided to book for it. But, following Dinesh Bhai's view price point will eventually clinch the decision

It all depends upon price of jimny...if it below thar ..then it will b good options for such people who wants 4by 4 vehicle..with average..with 5doors ..and most practical car for hill areas where space of parking and roads are narrow
Roads are not a problem on mountains . It's the narrow suspension bridges where Isuzu and thar can't pass. Here the narrower Jimny won't face any problem.

If its price is more than what I placed in above than- it will not sale much in the market. People will rather go for a Thar and Brezza instead of Jimmy.....
Bro most people would go for mods. 235’s with 2 inch lift kits and so on. That cuteness would turn to beastly looks. Even gypsy’s tyres have the same profile and remember Jimny is a bit wider than MG413W
Nowadays few people love terming their cars as BEAST, right from car segment like Baleno, Punch etc. Just resonate with the saying bueaty lies in the eyes of the beholder 😀.
I also booked Jimny on next day of auto expo, but cancelled it and purchased Safari Strome 2018 model for its massive road presence and TATA’s trust. Suzuki can’t even sharing the price of Jimny delivery is a big question mark, waiting so long after investing 25,000/- for this Jimny is not of any worth
Jimny wont suit your needs. Its Roof weight holding capacity would be around 40 kgs. Though, i think it has one advantage over Thar that is the availability of world class mods from big brands like frontrunner etc
Heavier tires and the weight of a lift kit might not be a good idea for the amount of power this generates IMO. I really wish these came with more grunt under the hood.

Same! I booked on second day. The drive will be good as they have been in production and tested globally. The low roofwill help to cut drag and high ground clearance will help too. Its good car but Thar is a good competitor. If Mahindra raises price then this would become expensive and more people may move over to Jimny. This car serves the Indian purpose very well.

Engine grunt will be a problem , as i have a brezza 2020 with full load doesn't enough grunt to pull , you have to push the accelerator

Gypsy original tyre size is 205 R15. Jimny is 195 R15. But you can go for 33 size in Jimny with lift kit.
