Thanks for your idea on setup. It worked great. I used a little different method but the trick of not using the 2 inner cords was the key. Made it much easier and was able to adjust it on a warm night that turned cool. Again thanks!
Mahalo, Bruh, for this review. I have these two items plus a Jungle Blanket and find that all three used together can get me down to 40F comfortably. Due to the top quilt being so lightweight, I've added a breathable SOL Bivvy and that combo can give me a warm night at 30F. Comfortable nights and sleep really improves the camping experience. Like you, I cannot afford the high prices for down sleep systems. Maui Boy.
Alexander Weaver Ahhhhh llllloooooo Ha! Waddup brudda! Yeah this is a great system & great on the cheap. Since shooting this video many of the cottage vendor quilt makers have made economy lines that are very affordable . Hammock Gear , loco libre , arrowhead equipment , winderness logics all have economy lines & some offer both down & synthetic options . For about $280 I was able to get a 20 degree top quilt & 20 degree underquilt , which considering back in the days it would cost that & then some for one piece! Def good stuff from snugpak for sure!
Thanks for the review - especially your improvements. I ordered the hardware from Dutchware and your system works perfectly - way better than any other method I've seen or tried - and it's super simple. Thanks again!
I'm glad the review could be of help. Now one thing I must note. After many camping trips I've noticed that the rubbing of the shock cord on the quilt hooks is starting to wear in the quilt hooks plastic. They can easily be replaced or you can opt for a small steel s biner .
Thanks for the info! I haven't used them enough to notice any wear yet, but I'm as about to place an order with Dutchware for some other stuff, I may just order a few more.
Good review. This looks like a great option for budget minded, weekenders, or car campers. I spent around $500 for my down top quilt, and under quilt set. I am happy to see some more affordable options coming to the marketplace.
+plumberjoe80 Thanks for watching! If i had the money i would be in a JRB quilt system but for now this is what i can afford. A bit heavier than most quilts but it works & the price was right at the time.
Thats great! I've gotten down to low 20s with it. I don't think any sleeping in that condition is for me but the snugpak kept me protected well. Glad the system worked! Thanks for watching
You mean low 20s with both top and under quilts from snugpack? I just slept last night, it was... ~40(+5c) an with a sleeping bag rated to 20(-1c) felt like im on a limit there so am considering getting snugpak topquilt aswell...
I like the way you set yours up. I was thinking of adding a Costco down throw, by installing 4 buttons or 4 snaps. Not sure which route to go. That would make this system modular, depending on the season.
I've just watched your video about twelve times, and , I now have my underblanket set up. My question is will the tato under quilt ridgeline hooks be able to hold onto my quilt. It seems sort of flimsy.
At the time I was using the snug pack UQ with the tato quilt Ridgeline hooks never had an issue. I did have a tato quilt hook snap on me though. I no longer use this setup & have moved on to the much better UQ solution Simply Light Designs Trail Winder . I have reviewed that on this channel & it is my current setup as of 2021.
is you hanging method possable without the ridge ling, as I often use the cocoon inconjunction with the under blanket. Neat idea by thw way, cool watch...Bex
bex bugoutsurvivor in order to use this setup you need the structural ridge line . The ridge line hooks are the important part of this setup ...helps pull the uq upward . Hope that helps
Thanks for watching. If you're trying to get into the cracking cold like survival style I guess adding anything will help , but if your trying to sleep in low 30s or high 20 degrees Fahrenheit I feel you can get by with the Snugpak alone.
Nice job on the video good information good quality. Yeah the whole under quilt challenge getting annoying to me. I think this looks like a good system I'm looking forward to trying it out. I'm curious how it's gonna work with my war bonnet blackbird.
Im not familiar with the WBB , but if it does not have side tie outs on the hammock i imagine most any under quilt will work. Thanks for watching & hope you'll find a system that will work
+Sean Sunburn This was shot at first landing park in virginia beach. I just did a day hike to shoot the review. There is however legal camping at false cape & backbay.
I have been getting pm on some of the Dutchware used in the video. First i must make a few corrections. I do not know what the diameter of the shock cord is on the snugpak under blanket. I assumed the cord lock i got from Dutchware would work , but it was too small. I did however find the correct cord locks at a local hobby / fabric / sewing store. I also was incorrectly calling the Dutchware "Quit Hangers" (Correct Name) "Quilt Hooks" (Incorrect Name) throughout the review. Below is the links to the Dutchware. www.dutchwaregear.com/quilt-hangers.html www.dutchwaregear.com/ridgeline-quilt-hooks.html Hope This Helps! Hang Loose
Short Round's Gear Reviews I think it's 1/4 inch shock cord. I just bought one off Amazon, I mean 40 bucks for an UQ? Finally got tired of cold feet and shoulders. haven't set it up yet. so this video was super helpful.

Scott Widen I'm glad this was able to help! In fact I'm at a music festival for a week hanging in that exact same set up & it never fails

Thanks again for the info, I like your no fuss videos, whilst still providing valuable info on the product in question...
Hope it will help you on your journey to unlocking the full comfort potential of the woodsman x & snug pack combo
Great video! Just picked up both of these for my secondary Hennessy for my son. Can't wait to try out your suggestions.
Hope the suggestion helps! Thanks for watching

Great detailed review
Thanks for watching! Iv'e switched to the Simply light Designs trail winder. Much lighter & way nicer.
I did this mod to mine and it works great. finally got to use my quilts this past weekend got down to low 40s high 30s

Thanks for this video. I just ordered both the UQ and TQ and all the hardware you mentioned from Dutchware.
Great video and comments/corrections too. Greetings from Canada
Thank you , glad this could be of some help
Thanks for review. I am ordering top quilt tonight. Still using Klymit pad for underneath.
Thanks for watching & hope the review helped. The Snugpak will serve you well👍🏽

A great instructional video, my friend!

Where in va do you go camping on the beach?

To be clearer there is camping at first landing park however it is not close to where i shot the video at

I'm glad the video could help! $40 for an under quilt is hard to beat..bit on the heavy side but works
Think it a bad design from snugpak my setup from warbonnet under quilt works
+Solo Bikepacker this product & video is for the budget minded
nah....just get you a wiggys superlight rectangular hooded bag, and put your snugpak bnkt on top...only extra thing you may need is a bcusa tarp
carl krebs what ever it takes to get you hanging in the cold.
