Only about 10 mins in. Finally Steve we have a canehead who clearly knows and appreciates the world of Rhum Agricole and cane juice. What a massive improvement on previous guests.
Definitely your best "teleconference" (dated term) so far. Bravo Steve! I know it's not rum, but have you ever drank any Monkey Shoulder? Just bought a double-size bottle today.
Monkey Shoulder is great! I wanted to try a different blended scotch for cocktails, so I bought Compass Box Artist Blend. I can definitely recommend that one too!
Yeah, I’m not a Whisky drinker, but even I can appreciate the step up in Quality as it’s a Blended Single Malt Whisky not just a Scotch. I know there’s kind of a translation difference in the US. But Scotch here is kind of the lowest quality. Where as Single Malts are the Superior. For for example Monkey Shoulder is in Chivas territory, not Bells or Famous Grouse.

@@StevetheBarmanUK Your channel is really good and you’ve come on leaps and bounds in terms of your tastes and knowledge since you started it. I’ve learned loads in the very short time I’ve been watching, so I thank you for that. However with the platform comes a responsibility to present accurate information, and being a nice guy with a good vibe does not mean one can’t be criticised. However I do apologise for my tone as it was critical criticism, which is not as constructive as it should be. You’ve been in the game longer, but in a lot of hobby spaces, there’s been a plethora of newly crowned “experts” that gained their platform over lockdown when people had more time on their hands to create, and captive audience to take advantage of. It’s resulted in an echo chamber effect. Anyway, fair play for calling me out on my tone.
And that is the perfect response! 🙏 See, it’s so easy to be constructive and friendly. One doesn’t have to pull people down. People are too quick to moan and whinge, instead of educating and helping the wider community. So now you can stay! 😂😂
@@StevetheBarmanUK I do mean it; sorry for the snark. It’s easy to forget there’s people putting in the work on the other end of the internet connection, and I do owe you a debt of thanks for the info I’ve gleaned from you. Also, thanks very much for the sheer level of trouble I’m about to get in for the absolutely monstrous rum order I’m about to place this weekend ahead of the duty increases! 🤦🏻♂️🤣
great chat guys, love the passion, some interesting stuff and particularly liked some of the bottles shown off. I am quite partial to a caipirinha myself. given you a follow on insta

Cheers!
This was an amazing video, informative and really fun. Kudos to you both!
Such a treat to be on, Steve! Rum is life ❤
Need more of it 👍
I can't count the number of times I paused this video to check if I could get any of the bottles mentioned locally. 😂
What a fun episode! I learned about so many bottles I'd never heard of before. My collection will definitely grow after watching this. 😅
Great download. Thank you.
good stuff! do what you like, not what the crowd wants. (within reason i know)
Hey Steve! Love what you’ve been doing. What would you say is the best cachaca for a caipirinha?

@@kevind.3389 Indeed it is great, I still vividly recall my first sip of the monkey on my shoulder. Cheers🍻

Can you use lime bitters in a ti'punch?
Yeah, why not. Not to replace the Lime & Sugar, but to enhance the Lime flavour
I’m in the US and can not get any interesting rums locally(within several hundred miles).
Why no mention of rum made in Mauritius
Three minutes in and we’ve already got a self-appointed expert saying there was Agricole in a 44 Mai Tai; something that was debunked years ago.
