Tim, you are the man! I've been trying to think of a way to make a jig patts rubber legs for the past week or so and then you post this. It's like you made it just for me :) thanks for the awesome vid
Thanks, Tim. I'm going to Colorado's Frying Pan River in 2 weeks and just tied several of this neat little guys in sizes 14 and 16. Will be fun to try!
if that's the idea, there are way easier, more durable flies to tie. This pattern is designed for fast flowing current habitats, which tend not be panfish habitat
What scissors do you recommend for general purpose tying? I've tried a couple Dr. Slick razor scissors but find the ends to be too fragile and finicky.
Codi Collins Interesting that you say that, I've tried scissors from different brands, and different scissor types and I find the dr slick razor scissors the best on the market; they handle general purpose cutting, and precise trimming equally well. nothing but praise from me... but I guess different strokes! (and they also have a lifetime warranty)
Fantastic video, I love all of these tutorials. I'm trying to get into euro nymphing this spring, and was wondering where you get your hooks? I can't seem to find the lightning strike jig hooks or any barbless hooks anywhere. Thanks for posting!
What happened? Did my vise tapping distract you? ;) The pattern looks great! Might take a little practice, but that's what's great about your video's... Pause and rewind are your friends! I can see that tail's really gonna move in the water column as it's bouncing on the bottom.
Been wrapping flies for many moons but new to jig hooks. The tip for smashing the lead to fit in the bead slot was awesome! Thx
Loved the idea of crimping the wire so it fit inside the bead slot. Makes a very heavy solid body. Probably helps balance as well.
Simple, elegant, brilliant
One of the coolest variations on a simple, effective pattern I've seen in a long time! Good job and thank you for sharing!
Thanks Tim, you are a sick puppy to come up with that extended body material maneuver. I see a lot of other applications stonefly patterns, thanks!

This fly worked really well for me on a recent float. Ill have to tie more!
This is so awesome! It’s amazing how much I learn from your channel, thank you sir!
Caught a chunky brown on this pattern which Tim demoed at the Lancaster Show. Great fly for swift runs!

Thank you for a great tie and techniques!!
Great video and instruction as always!
That's sick Tim.
That looks like a panfish killer! Nice job!
The Fishing Hobby Any fly is a panfish killer!
+Sir Megallot Some are better than others for sure. Rock bass would love this one no doubt.

Sweet fly! Will definitely have to tie a few of these up. Do you have any hellgrammite patterns?
The tying room floor? Wow🤔

Anvil scissors almost exclusively, love 'em.
Would a 3/16” bead be too large or would that be good for getting the fly down?
That's how I tie them, even on a 10. I like a heavy anchor.
Where can I get lightning strike hooks online
Never mind 😂

Try www.shannonsflytackle.com the online store doesn't have them listed but if you call the shop they do have them in stock.
Uh Tim, where did that "extended body" come from? You didn't show us that at Shannon's a couple of weeks ago! Always innovating!
Yeah, sorry bout that. The short body one was working just fine but once I got this one figured out I thought it looked better. What you think?

Get it down to brown town!! 🧈
