  • Many of you were kind enough to ask some questions about my collection of Audrey Hepburn and Givenchy pieces and, as promised, here is a little video answering those questions.
I apologise for the intermittent bird-song, dog-barks and occasional audio trouble. This was filmed by my wonderful partner Luke, who did his best under the circumstances of lockdown and having a potato for a camera.
Thank you for all of your questions, and I hope you enjoy the video!

NOTE: The dress in the background is not the dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in 'Sabrina' (1954) - it is a recreation of the dress I made a few years ago!

i am 67. i love most AH films. i ADORE those early films with her wearing Givenchy . THE scene in Gastad at the top of your favorite film knocks my feet off. she is just as chic as it gets! and it is not only her but of course her costume that made her so.
Two For the Road became a favorite for all kinds of reasons. the cast, the story, (i am retired actress). the car..... i have stopped it and taken pictures of her outfits!
Henry i wish you a huge success in your chosen profession. i think you are one in a many million and whom ever you dress will be so lucky to have you do so. may the best of luck come your way. with your passion i'm sure it will.

Every time I see Audrey she just takes my breath away. She has a presence that no other woman in film history has had. She’s practically perfect. One thing that does stand out for me is the famous dress she wears, to the Larrabee party, in Sabrina. Sabrina was the first Audrey film I watched as a child and that dress will always stand out to me as one of the most stunning.

I love that you speak slowly and beautifully in a world where people speak so quickly now because they’ve been corrupted by media and the speed and cheap commercial rhythms of social media. You have a grace and elegance which is rare in young people these days. Mostly what I see everywhere is vulgarity and over-sexualisation. And so it’s refreshing to see this appreciation of elegance and grace in someone so young.

I saved your video to watch over again ... Last night, while watching Charade with my Mom, my eyes were on Audrey's shoes in the night club. It’s inspiring to see how important fashion, costume design, Audrey Hempburn, preservation of clothes and most of all Givenchy is to you. I enjoyed your video a great deal. It's lovely to see someone your age who is so interested in the past, enjoying collecting with a fresh eye and a genuine enthusiasm for good design and innovation. When I use the word innovation I relate it to having a sense of humor about the work as well as an experience of joy in craftsmanship. I'm an artist, graphic designer, and musician who began collecting at an early age, mostly printed ephemera, early sheet music, classical as well as broadway from the '20s, '30s, and '40s, and anything else that I found that represented a sense of clever creation, wit, and beauty. I'm anxious to watch more of your video, to follow your exploration and collecting. Keep those eyes peeled, as they say, for the next collectible.

Oh Henry, that pink dress!💕 It reminds me of the dress that got away. It wasn't couture or worn by anyone famous. I was shopping for clothes for my honeymoon and came across a silver sequence halter dress, very simple and VERY HEAVY! I put it on and felt like a million dollars!!! My friend and the sales lady gushed, but it was WAY out of my budget. The sales lady was almost in tears...but I just couldn't afford it. To this day, 27 yrs. later, I wonder who bought my dress.😞 I'm so glad you were able to aquire those lovely pieces and that they mean more to you than just being a piece of couture clothing. They give significance to the past, and are memorials to those who possessed and wielded the divine spark of creating something beautiful, they are art.💕

I quite enjoyed hearing about your collection and how you acquired the pink dress worn by Audrey Hepburn. It's amazing that you found it on eBay, especially if you mean the British eBay site as opposed to the American one. The way that you handle these garments wearing white gloves reminds me of a museum conservator and is so elegant. My only complaint is that I didn't get to see enough of the pink dress. I would have loved seeing it displayed on a mannequin so that you could have pointed out some of its details. The thrill of discovery is certainly familiar to me as a collector of antiques and lover of French haute couture, a real joy to see in someone your age!

Hello Henry, I've just stumbled across your channel. I am charmed by you and your passion. I love Audrey too, she was so serene and ethereally beautiful. I own a delightful b&w artist's proof of Audrey with a dove on her shoulder, taken by Terry O'Neill in St Tropez when she was filming 'Two for the Road' with Albert Finney. I am a museum curator and your passion and care for your objects is palpable. I will be watching more of your videos with interest. Greetings from Qatar! :)

Some years ago I attended a display of Givenchy and Audrey Hepburn creations at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. I brought my granddaughter along and that special day has influenced her apparel choices to this day.

I love these videos, I wanted to influence my two children on TCM and the way stars like Audrey, Grace, Carey and Sidney dressed and conducted themselves with respect and grace. We see so little of this now in modern times.

The man she kicks in the film Charade was played by the actor who had played Doc, the kindly candy store owner in the film West Side Story (1961) who had supervened to stop an assault on Rita Moreno's character Anita.

I have always loved Audrey's shoes, the little heels. Who designed those? What do you think of the Jackie O look,by Oleg C. Knock offs? --1962.

now u just need a bag and a hat (don't know if u'r into jewelry) and maybe another glove and u at least will be able to have a full audrey look - being classics that they are, they don't all need to be from the same collection but still look great =] wish u could do this weekly but i know first hand that sewing (and painting, i saw ur other vids) takes up so much time... teecee and thanxies =]
