Statistics of someone enlisting in the military because of video games. If you have any sources, I would love to read on it (genuinely). I never really thought of it in that way from my perspective, and I think it's because of my culture and being Canadian. War and the military is simply not as a huge part of our culture as, say, the United States. So it's interesting to hear different perspectives on the matter. That being said, developing an interest in something because you saw it in the game (in this case, the military) is totally fair, I can definitely see that happening. _However_ I don't think this means people necessarily get desensitize when they actually do get into the military, even consider it a game (like EVA said), and that was the point I was making in the first place in my last video. I also don't believe that you're magically a more gifted soldier because you've played war games before (I've seen this point in the comments). It's like playing Operation and thinking you'll have an easier time becoming a doctor and be desensitized and still see it as a game when you get to actually operate on a living human being. The reality is COMPLETELY different and humans generally know the difference between that and video games when they get confronted with that reality. I can only imagine how shooting in a video game VS shooting on an actual target IRL is on a whole other level and completely different. You're welcomed to say I'm wrong if you're in the military though, since I'm not. I'll gladly listen to any actual lived experience and learn from that. Concerning the Metal Gear Solid series as a whole, I do enjoy the anti-war overall message, although it does go through multiple hoops to get there. My problem is, they touch on the subject of 'players play videos games - players become soldiers' on a very surface level a handful of times. This is what bothers me. Having the themes of war, violence, propaganda is great, but this type of throw away comment made every once in a while in a 4th wall breaking way only reinforces the stigma of video games making people more violent instead of being a commentary on society. It's unnecessary. That is what I meant to say in the last video. Hopefully this makes sense! You are welcomed to disagree of course, and thank you for all the interesting comments on this subject!
I had always interpreted in the context of the game. The Patriots created these 'Video Games' to seamlessly integrate young minds into a war system. To create perpetual war. And, not ironically, but factually, the United States government does train soldiers. TLDR; I believe what Kojima was getting at was using such a tool to train people entering into the military may desensitize young minds. I totally agree with you on the whole video games and violent thing. It's a bunch of bologna. But I didn't think Kojima was saying 'If you play this game, you're going to kill people' even though ironically many do. Because you always have an option to not. 😅

Fun fact: The flashback audio clips in Shadow Moses are not from MGS1, they are from the Gamecube remake, The Twin Snakes. In Twin Snakes, Otacon's lab had a Zone of the Enders poster instead of a Policenauts one. Here, you can see the same ZOE poster but partially revealing the original Policenauts poster behind it.
Me and my brother got mgs1 back in 1998. It was my first game i played. My brother being older would do all the boss fights for me. When 4 came out he was sick with cancer so i played for him so he could see everything especially act 4. Hearing the music and seeing the wolfs as you played really brought back good memories of playing games with my brother. I'm so glad to see you enjoying Metal Gear
A cool detail about the Crying Wolf boss fight. It takes place in the area you fight Sniper Wolf on both fights since you fight Sniper Wolf at the bottom of Tower 1 and at the bottom of Tower 2. Here you fight Crying Wolf on the entire area of the communication towers.
20:53 If you called Otacon, you would've heard an interesting codec call where snake also got scared just like you and started cursing at whoever came up with designing gecko. It's funny and so out of character for Solid Snake to curse.
45:51 The Protagonist of Zone of the Enders 2 FYI. ZOE (ZOE1 - 2001, ZOE2 - 2003) was Kojima's far-flung future games set in the 22nd century where humans had colonized planet Mars and wars were fought with giant flying mechs that were much bigger, stronger, faster and capable than building-sized MGS mechs like Metal Gears.
Note that in the flashbacks, they used the audio from the MGS1 remake The Twin Snakes, and Rob Paulsen had replaced Greg Eagles as the voice of Frank Jaeger.
Yeah they had to do that because when they tried to use the Original audio on the new audio software they were using you could hear trucks and cars driving outside and stuff since it was recorded in a some random apartment and not a proper sound studio 😂
I started playing games when I was about 3 or 4 and one of the first games I played was MGS1 so when I played this game for the first time almost 12 years later I was hit with so much nostalgia in this act that I still feel it whenever I see this part
2 fun facts: 1. If you use the Mk iii, you can re-electrify the floor that the gecko is on in B2 by fixing the control panel. 2. Now that you got the hang of shaking the controller to reset the octocamo in cutscenes, the next trick is found by shaking the controller when talking to Rosemary: It... jiggles her boobs... (Kojima can be so weird sometimes..)
@@Ratking-zg8nu I don't share that online but in simple terms. I deal with managing customer orders and that involves communication between stores and customers over many stores nationwide.
Just like in the old days Whimsy, it's wonderful to see new blood in the Metal Gear Solid Saga, you're for sure a new fan of the franchise, you've earned your place by loving and respecting the story, the characters, the games mechanics and even the comedy that is so japanese like, but we the fans still love it the way it is.
Would've loved if the music had been triggered by itself, because I never used the iPod more than the first time to see how it works. I want the devs to set the tone and use soundtracks accordingly, by choosing my own soundtrack it feels like I mess with what the dev wants to convey. 46:25 Funny that you say that, because I think the PlayStation is in the one of the shelves in the background here. Second cabinet from the left, second shelf from the top. 47:45 You could've activate the electric floor here to roast that mechanical cow if you wanted to. 53:30 DOUBLE KILL! The Crying Wolf fight wasn't too much fun for me also. The constant other enemies coming at you and that your sight is often times obscured by snow on top of that... didn't like it much. Fun episode! So much nostalgia! Have a amazing day, Whimsy!
A kind of game that doesn't happen anymore - a high-level incredibly costly-to-make tribute to players who have been with a franchise for at least the last 10 years by the time it came out, yeah. And literally nobody else. That takes balls to make.
@@chandlerburse fandom ? Weird. Although considering that same fandom loves the unfinished poorly-paced piece of shit MGSV is… who the fuck cares for their opinions ?)))
1:56:34 there is quite a bunch of fan service in this game, and as you said, its not in a bad way, iirc this was supposed to be the final MGS game, this is their way of paying respect to the franchise and the fanbase, but they've done it in such a way that it doesn't feel overwhelming, it was such a joy to experience every second of this game including these moments of looking back and referencing the older games!
Not actually true though. There is a couple of plot holes, which considering kojima didnt want to continue the series. But everyone kept begging him to make more. I think he wanted to stop after mgs1 or mgs2
that is the power of retconning and keeping stuff quite vague. None of this was ever planned out ahead, instead they retconned it in every new game (which is e.g why they made the mistake of referring to Dr Clark as male in the English version of MGS1 when Big Mamma in MGS4 tells us that it was really ParaMedic).
@Henrik_Holst Dr.Clark being Male from MGS1 is a translation error from my understanding. The English language doesn't have a gender neutral word when referring to a person. The player was never meant to know if Dr. Clark is a man or a women. This is to keep the Identity vague and mysterious.
Oh wow Whimsy, you went full Rambo in that Crying Wolf fight huh? 😆 My version of that fight went very differently, stealth and sniping from under a car is how I did it.
Yeah that's also how I did it. If you engage her from a safe distance without getting detected you can land three shots in quick succession doing a ton of damage before she moves to another location. The whole boss fight lasted less than 5 minutes. The way Whimsy did it looks more fun though 😂
I don't know if anyone has mentioned, but when the ladies are walking towards you in the boss fight for the last time, if you pull out your camera, they'll pose for you to take photos. That Kojima really liked his women. 😅
1:39:27 I might be wrong but...i think you were not in red, it was just gray but the fact that the beauty's surroundings kept the cold/blue-ish tone made the gray (a neutral tone) look warmer/red-ish.
1:57:48 my experience with the games up to when I played mgs4 back in the day was I actually had binged all the Metal Gears in one go in preparation for mgs4. I knew I loved the series because my babysitter when I was a kid was a huge fan and told me about some of the characters but she didn’t remember it was rated M and at the time I was smol and M was forbidden xD My first M game was either Oblivion or Halo 3 in 2007 (I actually can’t remember which I played first) but then I was like “well MGS4 is right around the corner I need to play the other games” so I got mgs1 on my psp, mgs2 and 3 on ps2 (even got and played Portable Ops on PSP which was amazing by the way super underrated), played through them and got to MGS4 it was amazing to back-to-back play through the games. And then a few years after mgs4 Peace Walker helped me get through a long hospital stay. This game series means heck of a lot to me. Also apologies if this is rambly it’s late where I am and I am sleepy but I wanted to share before I slept xD
45:50 - The poster and Otacon’s PC wallpaper is the cover art of Zone of the Enders 2, the character’s name is Dingo Egret. Edit: And a sneaky thing you can do with the Gekko in the electrifies corridor is use the Mk.3 to turn on the current and electrocute the Gekko.
In case you didn't know, the flashback voices are from MGS: The Twin Snakes, a remake of MGS1 for the Nintendo Gamecube. That's why Naomi and Mei Ling, despite having the same voice actors as before, have American accents in these flashback sequences, and why Grey Fox has a different voice actor.
I absolutely love your playthrough of this franchise Whimsy! I love the gameplay and your reactions and I'm looking forward to seeing you play MGS5 and Peace Walker. personally I do highly recommend playing Peace Walker before you jump into MGS5 as there are characters and events that will be very confusing otherwise, just a friendly suggestion, but of course it's entirely up to you.😊 Looking forward to your future videos.
when you activate IR Googles/ Night vision you can see there 2 pairs of footprints, just like in the naomi mission. not many peoploe have seen them actually! theyre the shoeprints from naomi and vamp earlier, they were of course there before snake
Oh man, playing MGS4 had me in tears so many times. There is one part I completely lost my marbles I was sobbing so bad. I cannot wait to see your reaction to it.
It was such a treat to revisit Shadow Moses, it’s crazy to go back there and think about all the things that went down during the first game and walking the same path years later. And the beauty of it is that each player explores the facility and recreates their memories based on their own experience with MGS
Well done whimsy , enjoyed that playthrough a lot so much nostalgia. As a hardcore metal gear fan growing up with it yes it is very intensely emotional. Don't 4get to use the auto aim if ur in trouble with enemies makes it easier to get out of a jam Stick to the shadows as it helps u recover psyche naturally otherwise take some regain Lastly while using the Moisin Nagant remember that u can zoom in even more with it , there is a X3 and X10 on the scope so and you were only using X3 which made it difficult for you during the boss battle. But it takes a few runs of the game to pick these things up so don't worry about it too much
Weird that it’s been longer since MGS4 came out to now, than the time between MGS1 and MGS4. So playing the shadow Moses part these days in mgs4 feels odd.
you have the best MGS series playthrough by far. So glad you got to see almost all the flashbacks in these parts, only 2 you missed, in the 2nd floor of the communication towers and if you put your camera on top of Snake and start walking (the overhead view haha)
you probably have noticed that the b&b have the names of the first mgs bosses (raven wolf and so on) and the battle emotions of the 3rd mgs like fury/rage, joy/laughter, sorrow and so on. now look at the weapons of them 👀 the rail gun, the tentacles....👀
Hey......there was a cool trick to handle that Gekko on that corridor. Otacon even gave a little hint about it: "as long as you don't turn the power back on.....". MK3 can do it.
I like to see when someone doesn't race through this game and who takes their time to appreciate the lore and the story. This game is definitely fan service for those that love this series. Great series so far - looking forward to the next part! Keep enjoying the game!
1:46:44 you finally picked one up. these are the the rewards you get that unlock a fun toy once you have all 4 in ng+ from defeating the beast forms nonlethally. octopus you definitely need to pick up after the beast form while she's still chasing you around to grab you since it forces you out of the mansion afterwards, probably need to do the same for raven too
Yes! The feeling I felt playing this act for the first time was so overwhelmingly emotional. This was definitely one of the highlights of MGS4 especially since MGS1 is my favorite
I remember in 2008 it took me FOREVER to leave through that door when I was with the wolves and playing that very same song as well. Was a great moment and I didn't want to leave.
Good thing about going into the Nuclear Warhead Storage Facility in this game is that we didn't have to deal with that annoying restriction by the nanomachines of using our weapons around the missiles. If you didn't remember the password, there was a cutscene of Otacon remebering he wrote the password on a sheet of paper and then Snake's psyche goes down a bar. If you wanted to get rid of that Gekko in the hallway, you could use the Mark 3 to use the switchboard to turn the currents on to electrify the Gekko. If you killed Crying Wolf both times, the cutscene will have the wolf howl with sadness. If you had gone to the 3rd floor on one of the towers, you would've heard another flashback of Liquid confronting Snake on the rooftop with the Hind.
The poster in Otacon office is from Zone Of The Enders 2 (PS2). The MGS remake in Game Cube replaced the Policenauts (another Kojima game from the 90s) poster with this one. So now we get the Policenauts one covered by the ZOE2 one.
i had played mgs1 in 1999 i was kid that moment so imagin the feeling when we comback in Shadow Moses Island in mgs 4 tha was a big nostalgic for me thanks for your content i have watched ill your MGS video.
I played MGS1 in 2000, and finished it in 2003 after playing MGS2 and growing up a bit, and then played MGS4 fully in 2014. Yes.. it was an insane roller coaster seeing Shadow Moses again
This is fan service done right. This is a story spanning over a decade in games if you include the Nintendo games. While (only referencing what I know you've played so far) there are retcons after retcons it's all done in service of making everything meaningful and tied together for the payoff players wanted. Someone picking this game up without having played the ones before would be absolutely lost and have a completely incoherent experience I would suspect. But the way Kojima chose to approach is was just unashamedly his vision and what he wanted to deliver to the player base that has been with these characters since the 90s.
During the cutscenes when your psych drops, rapidly press the x button (I think it was the x, can’t remember 😅) that way you can fight the drop and restore it back up.
Funny fact to give you Whimsy. If you shoot the Wolf Dogs by accident or on purpose, Otacon will get mad & be disappointed at you when calling him on Codec. Another fact for you: The dubbed codec flashback calls you're hearing for earning the 1000+ Drebin Points, is taken from MGS The Twin Snakes voice files. Not the original MGS1 PS1 voice files. 45:45 - That poster you're looking at who you thought looks like "Cyborg Raiden", is the Character "Dingo Egret" (yes that's his name) from another Hideo Kojima game called "Zone of the Enders". More particular, "Zone of the Enders - The 2nd Runner". Try playing this 2 part game series, when you get the chance 😁👍 Also you've missed out getting another Ipod song: Beyond the Bounds. This can only be obtained, after "Otacon reboots the bases power system". To get this Ipod song, you must trace back to the "Tank Hanger - Upper Floor room", where it us guarded by a few "Dwarf Gekkos". Other goodies: When inputting the code Numbers that Otacon tells you, you can input the following: 14893 - earns you 100,000 Drebin Points. 13462 - earns an Ipod music track "Policenauts. 78925 - earns an Ipod music track " Old L.A. 2040". And lastly is 12893 - which gives you 20% discount for weapons on Drebin's Shop.
Holy hell oo @50:32 That guy did freaking crit hit you 5 times in a row, thats so unlucky. x....x Also a Tipp. You have to shoot Gekkos in there back to damage them, thats the point of targeting the Legs first. ^^
13:27 this scene onward, and a little bit before, was just fantastic. Messing up the stealth plan and just escalating bit by bit until we end up with a grenade launcher with serene string instrument music, all the DP Popups and a bunch of destroyed mechs (accompanied by some noises of glee). That's a moment of failure, followed by reviewing the situation and resources, followed by success and control. That's the MGS spirit! Followed by Yabbabaaababababayyy 14:40
This game is pure fan service from beggining to end, i love MGS saga, i´ve been a fan for like 18 years, but i have to accept this game is nothing but fan service, if you haven´t played the other ones then you a are not gonna enjoy this game.
They haven't even started the fanservice yet xd My dad bought me mgs1 when I was 12. MGS4 was such a blast of nostalgia and wraps up the story so wonderfully.
Can't wait to watch you play Metal Gear Rising. MGS4 is the only game in the main storyline I haven't played due to never owning a PS3 but will sure start soon on my PC.
When you got the Mk.23 under the truck, it's not blocked by OSP like regulary guns you find. You don't need to unlock it with Drebin. Maybe it's because it belongs to a time before the system. Like the .45 Operator.
They used two separate flashbacks here. The visual flashbacks are from the original Metal Gear Solid while the audio flashbacks are from The Twin Snakes.
It's possible to look at the Policenauts poster in Hal's lab for drebin points just like the Z.O.E one. It's also possible to electrecute that Gekko by making MK.3 go to the panel you hit with the nikita.
45:36, huh? I never noticed before that the Policenauts (which Kojima wrote and directed) poster was peeling away to reveal a poster for Zone of the Enders 2 (which Kojima was a producer for)
Hello whismy another great video! We love your love for this series. Also your experience with the series is pretty much like mine. We have similar reactions for the same reasons 😎 You found a thing that i havent found like the flashback with meryl being shot but you missed the opportunity to fry a gecko on the electrified floor at the second floor basement 🤪. You just bolted out of there! Aint nobody got time for that!
Superglad that you could find the SOCOM and you equip it! :) Nice vid as always and nice vibes too!!! So many memories rewatching all the flashbacks, definetly a fan service in the best possible way as you said and so must well needed and a genious idea by Hideo :D I don't know if you are aware of this, but there is a remake of Metal Gear Solid 1998, called Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, that basically is the same play style and graphics that Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, if you wanna check it out :) because you are saying so many times that you wanna replay the first one ( its the best one, you know it ;) hehe ) I think you re gonna have so much fun with it! Let me finish again saying that i m enjoying so much watching these episodes, your work effort is amazing, lets goooo!
20:28 not sure if you noticed but they used the voice of Rob Paulsen who played the role of Gray Fox in the remake. Thing is Greg Eagle the original voice of Gray Fox also played Donald Anderson in the OG game and I'm guessing since the OG voice actors reprised their roles again to record the same lines they didn't want to have him play 2 characters again it could be tiresome im guessing.
Since you have most likely beaten the game by now, and since i havent seen others talk about it, there are several guns that have bean bag ammo that acts as nonlethal and is very useful against frogs. There is also some more fun ammo that causes emotions from people, such as laughing or crying. Very fun to play around shooting the rebels in act 1 and causing them to laugh and shoot their friends.
its not a spoiler but a secret that you can miss so hope fully ill put the hints later but not the actual answers. spoiler when entering the passcode at Otacon's desk there are 3? passcodes that will give you stuff, 2 are ipod music and the other is drebin points
25:21 Z.O.E (Zone of the Enders) is another excellent game made Konami, of which i hope you would play eventually 😄 If you do End(ers) 😉 up playing it, it would be interesting to hear what comments you'll make, considering that you've played the MGS series 😁
In a call with Otacon during the fight, he concludes she's sniffing your scent, and tell Snake to me mindful of the wind direction. Alternatively you can guess to use face camo to hide his Solid Shampoo. She's not burnt, she's dog meat, her armor is her fursuit/skin.
I like how the Caution theme has hints of MGS1, can't say the same about the Alert and Evasion though. There's a limit for these robots, but there's tons of them. I'd say you destroyed about 90% of them.
She definitely needs to play MGS Rising Revengeance next. MGSV Phantom Pain only after Peace Walker (Portable ops maybe, before it), followed by Ground Zeroes. Phantom Pain without Ground Zeroes is a metal gear sin. And playing Peace Walker ads alot of weight to Ground Zeroes, definitely is a must play, but it takes a while to finish.
What a wonderful Act 😭 I hope you enjoy the video ❤

Fun fact: The flashback audio clips in Shadow Moses are not from MGS1, they are from the Gamecube remake, The Twin Snakes. In Twin Snakes, Otacon's lab had a Zone of the Enders poster instead of a Policenauts one. Here, you can see the same ZOE poster but partially revealing the original Policenauts poster behind it.
Yeah, I'm sure she's been wondering what happened to all the accents. Mei Ling, Naomi, Deepthroat sounding different.
I like that they used the gamecube version since they sound more "flashbacky"

When 4 came out he was sick with cancer so i played for him so he could see everything especially act 4. Hearing the music and seeing the wolfs as you played really brought back good memories of playing games with my brother. I'm so glad to see you enjoying Metal Gear
A cool detail about the Crying Wolf boss fight. It takes place in the area you fight Sniper Wolf on both fights since you fight Sniper Wolf at the bottom of Tower 1 and at the bottom of Tower 2. Here you fight Crying Wolf on the entire area of the communication towers.
And I'd like to think that maybe the little wolf from MGS1 is the one that appears at the end of the battle with Crying Wolf. He remembers Snake.
DAMN IT, WHIMSY, GET A GRIP!!!!!!! LOL 😂
WAIT WHAT DOES THIS MEAN
1:53:23 😂
@FredHart-o8y good, stay that way 😌
20:53 If you called Otacon, you would've heard an interesting codec call where snake also got scared just like you and started cursing at whoever came up with designing gecko. It's funny and so out of character for Solid Snake to curse.
1:53:40 is prob the cutest moment in all your MGS playthroughs 🥺
Reminds me that Snake used to be a musher in Alaska. Animals know a good soul when they see one, 🙂
45:51 The Protagonist of Zone of the Enders 2 FYI. ZOE (ZOE1 - 2001, ZOE2 - 2003) was Kojima's far-flung future games set in the 22nd century where humans had colonized planet Mars and wars were fought with giant flying mechs that were much bigger, stronger, faster and capable than building-sized MGS mechs like Metal Gears.
oooh these games ZOE was a part of my childwood
Note that in the flashbacks, they used the audio from the MGS1 remake The Twin Snakes, and Rob Paulsen had replaced Greg Eagles as the voice of Frank Jaeger.
Aaaah that's why it sounded different. Makes sense
Yeah they had to do that because when they tried to use the Original audio on the new audio software they were using you could hear trucks and cars driving outside and stuff since it was recorded in a some random apartment and not a proper sound studio 😂
Works for me. I think his voices fit better anyways
Naomi and Mei Ling flashbacks are also twin snakes, but it is the best choice as they are both in this game
@@gavo117 I've tried all my life to listen for those cars and trucks in the actual game and I can never find them
I started playing games when I was about 3 or 4 and one of the first games I played was MGS1 so when I played this game for the first time almost 12 years later I was hit with so much nostalgia in this act that I still feel it whenever I see this part
2 fun facts:
I had such a bad day at work. I'm so happy that I'm subscribed to Whimsy+ and I get to watch this after work 😅

@@WhimsyPsyche haha yes all good. I'm glad I made you laugh 😀
I hope u call Otacon at every shadow Moses location, it’s great dialogue 👏
MGS4 as a whole is the biggest fan services of video games
I think Kingdom Hearts wins 😅
A kind of game that doesn't happen anymore - a high-level incredibly costly-to-make tribute to players who have been with a franchise for at least the last 10 years by the time it came out, yeah. And literally nobody else. That takes balls to make.
@@viewtiful1doubleokamihand253 except the fandom mostly disliked that
@@chandlerburse fandom ? Weird. Although considering that same fandom loves the unfinished poorly-paced piece of shit MGSV is… who the fuck cares for their opinions ?)))

Fun Fact: There are codes you can input during the 5 digit part, getting you a few goodies
I`m still amazed by the fact that the story has been written this cohesive across the titles. How things are referensed and how it all circles back.
@Henrik_Holst
Dr.Clark being Male from MGS1 is a translation error from my understanding.
The English language doesn't have a gender neutral word when referring to a person. The player was never meant to know if Dr. Clark is a man or a women. This is to keep the Identity vague and mysterious.
Whimsy: blasts heavy ordnance everywhere at slightest provocation. "I tried to do stealth."
I'm so happy you found the MK23 every time you passed the truck I was like 👀 look under the truck. 😂
Oh wow Whimsy, you went full Rambo in that Crying Wolf fight huh? 😆 My version of that fight went very differently, stealth and sniping from under a car is how I did it.
Full Rambo is so accurate 🤣🤣
Yeah that's also how I did it. If you engage her from a safe distance without getting detected you can land three shots in quick succession doing a ton of damage before she moves to another location. The whole boss fight lasted less than 5 minutes. The way Whimsy did it looks more fun though 😂
@@WhimsyPsyche going under a car is one of the few places you can go to get out of the storm and drop the stress meter so you can keep your psyche up
I don't know if anyone has mentioned, but when the ladies are walking towards you in the boss fight for the last time, if you pull out your camera, they'll pose for you to take photos. That Kojima really liked his women. 😅
Oh, I guess I also forgot that the camera is behind Sunny's desk in the Nomad. I believe you have to control the Mk.III to get it.
22:17 the emphasis on the *MEEEEE* is so funny 🤣
27:20 YES She made the call! I was hoping you were calling Otacon at the tank area!
1:39:27 I might be wrong but...i think you were not in red, it was just gray but the fact that the beauty's surroundings kept the cold/blue-ish tone made the gray (a neutral tone) look warmer/red-ish.
What a rush of memories! Makes me yearn for the past. I'm glad you get to enjoy this wonderful journey as well!
45:53 that’s our boy Dingo
Wooooo 🥳 I sure can't wait for the next episode of Metal Gear Solid 4, Guns of the Pay-Tree-Auts! 🤪🤪
Hahaha forever doomed to pronounce it this way 🤣
I absolutely love your playthrough of this franchise Whimsy!

There is one part I completely lost my marbles I was sobbing so bad.
I cannot wait to see your reaction to it.
Babe wake up, Whimsy uploaded a new MGS video!
I'm awake now!
21:34 this path originally was supposed to lead to a frozen lake
It was such a treat to revisit Shadow Moses, it’s crazy to go back there and think about all the things that went down during the first game and walking the same path years later. And the beauty of it is that each player explores the facility and recreates their memories based on their own experience with MGS
Well done whimsy , enjoyed that playthrough a lot so much nostalgia. As a hardcore metal gear fan growing up with it yes it is very intensely emotional.
Don't 4get to use the auto aim if ur in trouble with enemies makes it easier to get out of a jam
Stick to the shadows as it helps u recover psyche naturally otherwise take some regain
Lastly while using the Moisin Nagant remember that u can zoom in even more with it , there is a X3 and X10 on the scope so and you were only using X3 which made it difficult for you during the boss battle.
40:00
It's not a Raiden poster.
It's the villain of the Zone of the Enders games. Another serie made by Konami.

1:55:33 that was so sweet how you were lost in that moment! I was too!
Yes! The feeling I felt playing this act for the first time was so overwhelmingly emotional. This was definitely one of the highlights of MGS4 especially since MGS1 is my favorite
BTW Johnny is the solider that got knocked out by Meryl and stripped when Snake first met with Meryl outside of her cell.
I like your videos, especially when you’re playing MGS.
It makes me feel like return to that good days with joy to play game
45:42 yes, its because is Yoji Shinkawa’s design on that game too, there are alot of similarities among the games Kojima and Shinkawa did together.
i had played mgs1 in 1999 i was kid that moment so imagin the feeling when we comback in Shadow Moses Island in mgs 4 tha was a big nostalgic for me thanks for your content i have watched ill your MGS video.
I finished playing MGS4 earlier this year. Absolutely loved it. You are stunning Whimsy. Such a beautiful personality. ✌😎👍
The nintendo games aren’t canon those are poor ports of the MSX games

Try playing this 2 part game series, when you get the chance 😁👍
Also you've missed out getting another Ipod song: Beyond the Bounds.
Holy hell oo @50:32 That guy did freaking crit hit you 5 times in a row, thats so unlucky. x....x
Also a Tipp. You have to shoot Gekkos in there back to damage them, thats the point of targeting the Legs first. ^^
There's a weak point in the center on top of their head.
This game is pure fan service from beggining to end, i love MGS saga, i´ve been a fan for like 18 years, but i have to accept this game is nothing but fan service, if you haven´t played the other ones then you a are not gonna enjoy this game.
this mgs is soooooooooo vastly underrated i love it from the beginning to the end
They haven't even started the fanservice yet xd
My dad bought me mgs1 when I was 12. MGS4 was such a blast of nostalgia and wraps up the story so wonderfully.
Can't wait to watch you play Metal Gear Rising. MGS4 is the only game in the main storyline I haven't played due to never owning a PS3 but will sure start soon on my PC.
This game is the only one who got close to what I felt whilst playing MGS1. Masterwork, both of them.
When you got the Mk.23 under the truck, it's not blocked by OSP like regulary guns you find. You don't need to unlock it with Drebin. Maybe it's because it belongs to a time before the system. Like the .45 Operator.
Not sure if it's true or not, but I always thought the wolves were the wolf pup from MGS1 and he remembers you and wants to show you his family :3
1:30:37. “I am cold as hell”
That’s why I love her playing mgs.
Hahaha hell froze over during the fight, I don't make the rules!
Ooooo it's like Christmas

So many memories rewatching all the flashbacks, definetly a fan service in the best possible way as you said and so must well needed and a genious idea by Hideo :D
I don't know if you are aware of this, but there is a remake of Metal Gear Solid 1998, called Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, that basically is the same play style and graphics that Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, if you wanna check it out :) because you are saying so many times that you wanna replay the first one ( its the best one, you know it ;) hehe )
I think you re gonna have so much fun with it!

It's so fun to watch Whimsy The FROG Butcher return to Shadow Moses to kick some butt :)
58:17 the other ½ of my favourite members of the B&B Corps 😁
Since you have most likely beaten the game by now, and since i havent seen others talk about it, there are several guns that have bean bag ammo that acts as nonlethal and is very useful against frogs. There is also some more fun ammo that causes emotions from people, such as laughing or crying. Very fun to play around shooting the rebels in act 1 and causing them to laugh and shoot their friends.
its not a spoiler but a secret that you can miss so hope fully ill put the hints later but not the actual answers.

Mgs4 is a masterclass game. Yes alot more cutscenes then gameplay but it's amazing.
Shadow moses makes me a nervous wreck lol so many good moments from then
I like how the Caution theme has hints of MGS1, can't say the same about the Alert and Evasion though.
There's a limit for these robots, but there's tons of them. I'd say you destroyed about 90% of them.
45:40 that's from another Konami game called Zone of the Enders. That is probably from the sequel.
