Congrats on the launch! It's been really fun to watch this series since the very beginning, I hope the game does really well! Hint for Players: Make sure you write a review! They really help!
Just beat the game. Holy MOLY was Pro Series TOUGH!! I was about to give up but finally I made it through and beat the final boss with my final attempt remaining. I freaking loved it! The whole thing! And the final boss? It was EXACTLY what I was hoping it would be one for one. So glad that's the direction you went!
This is such an extraordinary and unique game.Big studios can never achieve this chatm of an indie game.there's a huge audience out there waiting for games like this. This game is going do exceptionally well. Congratulations!
Here is how you would do it: Once the player has finished customizing his character, and clicked the exit button or whatever, render the newly customized character into a texture and then display it as an icon on the screen.

Congrats for finally publishing the game!!!! Can't wait to play!! For the player thumbnails, you can use a copy of the player's current skin with a second camera that's both far away from the scene and render the 2nd camera output to a render texture and use that in the UI (i don't know the correct terms for Unreal since I'm a mostly Unity dev, but that's the general idea)
The player picture thing should be like this: After a player cosmetics get saved you should take a snapshot of the player model from a certain angle and use that jpg image as the placeholder.
I've been following this game since pretty much Day 1 and oh my god what a journey it has been. Ponty, you're one of the few indie devs out here on youtube that truly inspired and subtly guided me through my own journey as a new game dev, just finishing uni for Game Art and Design. You showed many of us who follow you how possible learning new tools, making and now releasing a game into the world! Congratulations on the release and thank you so much for all your work and I truly can't wait to see what's next for Punch A Bunch and future projects! Much love! ❤️🎉🎊 P.S.: Whatever you decide to make next, I would love to primarily see you level up your skills. Its doesn't matter what kind of game it will be. This channel has inspired a lot of people to download Unreal, Blender etc. and start making stuff so I'd find it pretty cool if you delve deeper into some of the beautiful areas of game design. (i.e. concept art, character design, hard surface modeling, Sculpting, texturing in Substance Painter etc.) It feels like Punch A Bunch has been a huge learning experience for you and in a way can be seen as a blueprint/ foundation/ prototype/ stepping stone of sorts for your next projects. Anyway, gonna go play the game now, bye byeeeee...
Just tried the game, and... It's awesome! The impact of the punches are extremely satisfying when you land a heavy hit. I'll for sure be writing a full review on the steam page after playing some more. You're absolutely an inspiration, and I'm looking forward to what you make in the future
Huge HUUUUGE props to you man! Making a game is one of the most challenging and frustrating things you can do, and you did it with flying colors on your first attempt! You deserve all the sales. I'm about halfway through the game and absolutely love it so far (even with some of the more frustrating bosses). You've quickly become one of my favorite game developers, can't wait to see what you do next!
The fact that you made all this all by yourself still amazes me. I have been with you through the whole journey and how you have taught me many things to start making games myself. So THANK YOU!

Great man... Finally... Really happy for you man. I did not see you for a long time on twitch too. Happy to see that you finally finish this great journey
Not only is the game an amazing display of what all of us indie game developers can accomplish on our own, but your videos are just incredibly beautiful. Inspiration to us all, man. Keep up the good work!
I can't believe it. Over two years of waiting and it's finally here. I saw you from the first video to this one. All I gotta say is that I'm proud of you, Ponty. We all are. P.S. Can't wait to get it
As someone who is starting work on my own game, this dev vlog series has been a huge inspiration to me. I'm so happy for you and excited for where your game dev career takes you next! Good job, dude! I'm proud of you for keeping to it and finishing it out! Congratulations on launch! :D EDIT: Side note, just went to go buy the game. Excited to get to try it out!
I've seen so many devlog creators get discouraged and never complete their game, but you pushed through! I'm incredibly impressed with the level of dedication you put into this project. I've also got to say, I really enjoyed watching your video style progress over the years into such a chill and laid back approach. It's a very relaxing experience watching your videos, and I'm here for it! Good luck on your future endeavors.

This was one of the best, funniest, and most inspiring series of videos I've ever watched and I'll I can say is thank you so very much Mr. Pants. I wish you nothing but the best 👌
Ponty Congratulations! After 2 whole years you have finally made it. You have released your first video game. It was amazing watching you this 2 years learning game development and becoming a part of its community, which is also inspiring. I really wish the best for your game. Good job!!
So cool that your game is finally going to be put on steam. You deserve it! Hopefully it goes well for you. I bought the game just to support you. Good luck! 😀
This is a huge accomplishment! There is so much work involved in a full project like this. As a professional game programmer that followed your project from start to finish, you have my respect. I hope your game will be profitable! Good luck with the launch!
Congratulations on publishing your game. It‘s a unique boxing game, as it doesn‘t play like anything I‘ve experienced before! It‘s challenging and a lot of fun. The next step would be to see how much you sell, you could be making millions since your self-publishing, and based on that first decide if you want to build a small team or if you want to go solo again for your next game (Working in teams comes with its own challenges. You need an emotional maturity for that. And need to know how to accommodate others suggestions but also be able to maintain some of your preferences and vision too).
BROO this is so crazy, this series actually made me want to get into game development so its amazing that this is finally released and i just wanted to thank u for making this game.

been here since day one, It's awesome to see how far you've come. I'm gonna call it a success considering how many good reviews are on steam. I failed game dev only got 12 downloads on my 2nd game...
Regarding the thumbnail pictures for your own character, not sure what engine you developed it. But in Unity there is something called RenderTexture, where you can render an image based on a camera projection. So you could even make it be animated rather than static.
For anyone who’s new to gamedev, I have REALLY solid advice for you all: When you’re creating aspects, and learning new things to put into your game.. just remember how long this game took to make, because watching clean looking videos for their quick impulsive information is actually going to *blindside* you on the reality of what you’re facing. The menu song alone took him TWO DAYS. TWO *DAYS* FOR A SONG. And for most people, that’s really fast! Considering he hasn’t had much experience in making music, this is impressive. You really gotta compare that with how slow/fast a single day goes by to you in order to understand the scope of how much thinking goes into creating something like this. And this game has been getting worked on for years. Look, if you’re really serious about making something.. follow some basic guidelines. First off, Eat and sleep well. You need to be energized and feeling good in order to get a good days work in. Your entire body is made of cells CONSTANTLY working to keep you alive, so treat them well and you’ll develop a whole lot better! Second: if you aren’t making much progress on something specific, or you’re lacking the *big brain* energy to figure out an issue.. then that means you need a CLARITY BREAK. That means you step away from your entire setup, go somewhere else(not your bed or somewhere you typically lay down or relax), bring a notebook with you, and start looking up videos or websites to teach you more about the subject you’re getting into. If you’re trying to learn something (ex. 3D sword animations, combat, setting up damage/health systems, or whatever you want in your game), then you need to dedicate some research time away from the game to learning how that stuff works! You need to understand how addition works before you even attempt 2+2, because otherwise you’ll have NO IDEA how to fix or problem solve if you’re wrong. If you have no idea how to link animation nodes(which you wouldn’t if you didn’t research), then you shouldn’t even be trying to follow a tutorial telling you how to make a character do kick flips for your skateboarding game or some bs like that. Read the manual of the game engine you’re using, Learn how the system works and what you can use to make something happen, Practice the script language if you feel like you’re struggling to read the code, Create a list of everything you’ll need(items, environment objects, clothes, interact-able buildings like how a Minecraft Crafting Table works), and separately.. solve those problems!!! You can ALWAYS optimize things later. The important thing is recognizing when you’re failing, and not understanding.. then taking the next step, by literally stepping away to prepare to tackle it again. You don’t keep punching the damn door, you figure out how to get/find/make the key. Step back, realize your problems.. and always remember one thing when you inevitably forget the rest of my comment: “When you don’t know where you’re going, you don’t just walk down the damn trail. You’ll get lost. Find a map. When you don’t know how to make a cake, you don’t just throw bleach and sawdust in the mix. You’ll poison yourself. Find a recipe. When you don’t know how to fix a game, you don’t just keep messing with the code/components. You’ll break it and get confused even more. Find a manual. It takes a while to figure out and piece together what you need to do, but that’s why you step away from the problem so you don’t mess things up. Just step away, take a notebook, and start reading/studying. You already know the benefit; It’s that your game will work the way you want.. the only problem is right now, is that you need to learn how to do it. It’s not like it’s finding a cure for cancer, the answer is already there right now. You just need to wade through the unnecessary bits, write down the parts you need to know, and bring it with you when you go back to creating.” I don’t want you to even THINK about fiddling with that damn project until you know what you’re doing. Now get back to that beautiful work of art, and remember to step away when you don’t know. I’m going to do the same thing when I’m done watching this amazing pointy pants video.

Regarding the thumbnail pictures for your own character, not sure what engine you developed it. But in Unity there is something called RenderTexture, where you can render an image based on a camera projection. So you could even make it be animated rather than static.
