      You’re ignorant. Those who work in NYC but live in NJ pay taxes in both states.
      -
      Also, why do they need more taxes when they mismanage what they already have? How does a first world city taking in 12B a year (more than some nations) experience flooding? They’re stealing it. So more tax equals more theft. Double digit iq socialist/statist.

  • @Honestcritic79
    @Honestcritic79 Месяц назад +7

    Why is everyone against this? I’m confused. NYC is an extremely densely populated city and space is an absolute premium. You driving a lone in your SUV is extremely inefficient way of traveling and making traffic for other more efficient means of travel (busses) not to mention the actual emergency delays. I’m for it, everyone’s just upset that something that was free is now no longer free. But the fact of the matter is that travel needs to be more efficient, or else no one wins, at least now, people in busses can get to their destination quicker.

      When you pay a fair price for parking on the street, feel free to claim the road. Is anybody questioning why people without cars should subsidize car owners? I say even the car owners in Manhattan should pay for street parking. I see those cars moving only 10 min per week when the street is being cleaned. If you believe your 2 ton of steel deserves a spot on public roads, you’d better pay sth like $500/month.

    I JUST DON'T GET IT. The Port Authority of NY and NJ are in charge of the bridges and tunnels into Manhattan from NJ, not the MTA. They are also in charge of their business relationship with EzPass. The MTA has no jurisdiction whatsoever. All the Port Authority has to do is have a meeting and vote to not charge the fee and remit to the MTA. NYC and the MTA can make their own laws, regulations, and rules all they want. The Port Authority is independent and makes its own rules, that are shared by both NY and NJ. If NYC wants to work with the MTA for congestion pricing in Manhattan, on the island, south of a certain block, that is between NYC and the MTA. The Port Authority can't be bossed around by NYC or the MTA. They do not answer to them. How is this even going to court? Did people forget who runs who??

    A simple way they could have done this is would have been to just charge $5 to enter Manhattan (from any entry point). If I'm driving from queens to bronx, I drive through manhattan to avoid the toll. I wouldn't do this if it cost the same amount of money to enter Manhattan. This would lower traffic in Manhattan since people would pay bridges instead of avoiding them by going around (since it would be same price). This would also reduce pollution since they will be driving less miles by not going around...I don't see how they were able to make a simple solution so difficult...
