Such exquisitely fine, delicate knitting just fascinates me! Thank you for sharing this bit of Shetland history, and the beautiful work of Shetland knitters in the past. I'm also glad that there are some people who are keeping this artistry alive!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you to everyone who contributes to Wool Week! I live in Canada, and have not had the pleasure of visiting Shetland yet in person, but these broadcasts have been the next best thing. I have sat down with tea and knitting every day to enjoy the time with all of you - so much inspiration, fun, good will and enthusiasm! Thanks again. I will keep following your upcoming posts.
Greetings from Canada! This video filled a hole in my knowledge I hadn't noticed until recently - I was teaching knitting to my daughter's class at school, and at her request I brought in my ring shawl to show the class when I brought in some other examples of things that I had knit for inspiration. Some of the students had wanted to know how the lace would have been used traditionally, and the best I could give was that it was exported, it was knit for income. I really appreciate hearing about how the lace was used, because now I can answer that when it comes up next.
And the exquisitely talented Shetlanders who produced these beautiful pieces, are the upper class and royalty in their own right, and well deserved.
Fabulous videos - I really appreciate being able to see so much about SWW. Planning to come in 23 or 24
I am so desperate to get to Shetland wool week but it’s so expensive for me. Thank you so much for posting videos so I can still be involved ❤
Fascinating to learn about Shetland lace. I learned something new today.
I love the knitwear worn by Claire this week. I look forward to finding out more about it. The sleeveless pullover on the last broadcast was particularly stunning.
Shetland lace is amazing. Thanks for showcasing these beautiful, delicate pieces.
I have thoroughly enjoyed these Shetland Wool Week broadcasts. They have really given a great overview of the week.

Thank you for doing these videos this week. For those of us who can not make it to Shetland, it had been a delight to get a peek into the goings on during Shetland Wool Week!!.
Excellent interview. That new display case looks amazing.
It really is, hope you can see it in person.

Thank you so much!
I’m looking forward to video every day,and thank you. I really love to see the amazing lace skill and they inspire me.I wanna see them again in real.
Thank You so much for sharing this, I cannot wait to make it to Shetland one day. Listening to this while I spun mohair lace, fascinating that Shetland spinners used mohair! How cool!
My trip to Shetland for Wool Week was amazing. The wool, the people, the food , the land , changed my life. I have a deep love for this island and it’s people. I can’t wait for my next visit.
this was just the BEST. Thank you!
Your daily broadcasts have been the highlight of my day here in Canada. I appreciate your excellent interviewing skills, but even more your warmth and natural presentation....not to mention your Shetland sweaters! Perhaps these Wool Week videos could become a regular series throughout the year? I would subscribe for sure. I only wish I was in Shetland this week! Thank you.
Thank you - Claire is a pro!
I just want to say this is wonderful. I could not come to Shetland but doing these videos are excellent. I feel like I am there. Learned so much. I thank you so much for taking your time to do this. I appreciate it a lot.
Great to hear!
A wonderful video. Shetland lace has always been a favourite of mine so hearing about its history from someone as knowledgeable as Carol was a real treat. Thank you so much for making these. You bring Shetland right into our homes. x
Wonderful week ! So expertly presented and all v interesting , hope to be there next year 🤞🏻 thank you everyone 😊
Amazing!! The museum is definitely on my “must see” list when I am finally able to visit!!!
Thank you so much for all these bits of Wool Week! Coming to Shetland is on my 'bucket list', but truth be told, it was Ann Cleeves Shetland series on telly, that first made me fall in love with your beautiful islands. Now, after all the SWW videos, I feel as if I already know so many knitters and I can't wait to come to Wool Week in person! .❤❤❤
I've loved all these videos. Thank you for them. I'm really sad to hear that folks got COVID there, including Bunchy. It's why I'm not there this year. I was surprised to see no one wearing masks, even in close confined spaces. I really want to come back to SWW but won't until COVID becomes something that's dealt with properly with masking and air filtration.
Such an excellent broadcast. I looked forward to and enjoyed watching each & every day. Loved your announcer. She was so genuine, interested, kind and informative (my apologies, I cannot remember her name). I hope to join you next year at Shetland Wool Week!
I love Shetland lace. I have been knitting lace since teenager - but never attempted a big complicated piece. I’m ready to try. Are there any online resources you can recommend (teaching videos, yarns for sale, and so forth)?
I'm scared to knit lace. I've never knit with lace weight yarn but am so in love with the lace cardigan in this year's annual that I want to learn as well.
This was interesting but better lighting and some close up shots would have been appreciated so that I could actually see the lace properly.
