In the end, Sixx wrote the song, and can really do whatever the hell he wants with it. It's his intellectual property. The existence of this version doesn't in any way take away from the original. It's just different.
I think you might be incorrect with the song only belonging to only Nikki. Many times the entire band will get writing credits. Because they all contribute to the final version. I'm gonna bet that MC gave their blessing instead of Nikki saying "it's my song".
In reading some of these comments, wow, I'm just floored. people are just so critical and out and out mean. I laughed when someone said, "no wonder a lot of Crue fans hate Sixx:AM." Every Crue fan I know loves Sixx:AM, and Nikki might have said he'd never play a Motley song with anyone else but hey, people do change their minds, is it really that big of a tragedy people. I love both bands and seeing as Nikki wrote it, he can do whatever the hell he wants with it.
Most of the comments against the song are shallow elitist opinions with no form of musical "evidence" attached to it. Literally no one can give a valid reason why this version is bad, other than "He said he would never do a MC song". To me this version has a different form of energy, and that's what I like about it. It's extremely difficult turning an upbeat song into a good acoustic.
I'd be willing to bet that most of the writers of such negative comments have never so much as touched a musical instrument, let alone write a song...with that said their opinions mean nothing. Nikki Sixx, keep up the good work, brother...
I absolutely love this! It gave me chills. You know it's good when it can give ya chills. Who cares if it's a Motley song, like you said you wrote it, your entitled. I fucking love it!
I think they did an amazing job with it. James vocals are incredible. I've been a fan of Motley since the beginning. Been to every tour except one. I've also been a Sixx:AM fan since the beginning. Both bands have their own style. For them to take a song like Live Wire and totally change it up, well, I applaude it. That's what being musically artistic is all about.
FUCK what everyone's saying. I love Motley Crue, and Live Wire is one of my favorite songs by them, but this shows how you can take a piece of art and completely change it, change the mood, show how flexible it is. Just because it was originally an up-tempo song that kicks ass, people have to compare the two dualistically instead of understanding the art of taking a piece and restructuring it into something completely different that's been put in the complete opposite direction of feel. Maybe if Sound of Silence was originally an up-tempo kickass song, they'd give Disturbed hell too. Anyways, Nikki wrote it, he can do what the fuck with it as he pleases. Nikki wrote it, he can do what the fuck with it as he pleases. Nikki wrote it, he can do what the fuck with it as he pleases. Nikki wrote it, he can do what the fuck with it as he pleases. Nikki wrote it, he can do what the fuck with it as he pleases. Nikki wrote it, he can do what the fuck with it as he pleases.
The Sound of Silence was an more up tempo song written & sang by Simon & Garfunkel. I don't care for disturbed version but I respect it and Paul Simon likes it. Exactly it's Nikki's music and he can do as he pleases with it
Gayana G , they thought it would be a good idea to do a "haunting" acoustic version of the song for French Radio. they didn't release it as a single, or on the album, or play it live at a concert or anything, it was just for a radio station. someone just got the audio and posted it on youtube. he promised he wouldn't ever lean on motley crue,
I think those of you who are criticizing this version are NOT even capable of seeing it from a musicians perspective. Being able to take a song that was written with heavy guitars and double-kick drums, and then taking it to the opposite end of the spectrum and doing it with class, is an accomplishment in itself...I think its great, and I plan to cover it in my acoustic act.... Im a Crue-head anyways, and theres been some tunes i didnt like, but this is great and if ya dont like the way it sounds, then dont listen to it...We all have choices
I like the fast version but the way I see it is music is a expression of life. We turn to different styles for the emotions of the day. I like both versions.
+Samara X dude it's my favorite Mötley song right alongside Primal Scream and Kiss The Sky. I like it. If you don't then whatever I'm not going to argue about personal tastes. Do you bro
As a crue fan I got to say this is pretty cool it's not better nor worse than the original it's a thing of its own and from one of the guys who wrote it themselfs I feel could go with any direction he could ever want to go on with this song and I respect this because it's just as beautiful in its own way
The dirt soundtrack cover is better with the female vocalist singing the famous song but it's admirable six am taking on Nikki sixx songs he wrote for Mötley Crüe
I like it but the thing i don't like is when someone expresses their opinion that they don't like it, people get all bent out of shape and start calling the person names or telling them to go listen to Bieber or some other crop like that. Everyone has the right to their opinion. Thats whats great about freedom so calm down if someone doesn't like it. If they don't, you can still continue to like it. I see grown people on here acting like children.
Bullshit corporate feel good rock version, total opposite of Motley Crue, might as well have been Blink 182 or Green day.Can now understand why a lot of Crue fans hate Sixx am.
He doesnt need to hang it up.....Obviously you cant appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into re-writing a song and still making it a viable recording....They did a great job on it
Whitecloud 94 Youre pretty ignorant.....BTW, where would I find all of your top 10 hits that you wrote? Pretty sure your music (if youve ever written anything) didnt make the top 1,000,000...Justin Bieber did, GO FIGURE

He actually did play Motley songs live with Brides of Destruction. It fucking rocked just like this one.
I'd be willing to bet that most of the writers of such negative comments have never so much as touched a musical instrument, let alone write a song...with that said their opinions mean nothing.
Nikki Sixx, keep up the good work, brother...
Love Nikki Sixx, love Sixx Am, Love Motley Crue, Love this song!! Some people just don't know good songs when they hear them!!
Amen!

omg this is awesome!!!
When I thought this song couldn't get any better it did.
+Samara X dude it's my favorite Mötley song right alongside Primal Scream and Kiss The Sky.
I like it. If you don't then whatever I'm not going to argue about personal tastes. Do you bro
It sucks, you must be a Green Day and Blink 182 fan!!
I am resisting every urge to compare this to the original version. This is fucking great!
Well here's my two cents. I'm 43 years old, and think this is a great version of this song.
It’s frickin amazing.
As a crue fan I got to say this is pretty cool it's not better nor worse than the original it's a thing of its own and from one of the guys who wrote it themselfs I feel could go with any direction he could ever want to go on with this song and I respect this because it's just as beautiful in its own way
Someone have the chords of this song?
Love it
I think its a great twist on an already great tune
Nikki Sixx a few months ago said in an interview that when Crue is finished he'll never play a Crue song again. That didn't last long lol
there's no bass...he didn't play it
Get better speakers, because there's bass. Why the hell wouldn't he play on his own song anyway ?
It is bad ass
The dirt soundtrack cover is better with the female vocalist singing the famous song but it's admirable six am taking on Nikki sixx songs he wrote for Mötley Crüe
lady gaga
l loved it, all you haters keep your negative thoughts to yourself! !
I guess it's his music and he can do whatever he wants with it
Wow! That's amazing, one of my favorite Crue's song become totally different, and I love it! Original version is best but this one not bad at all!
I like it but the thing i don't like is when someone expresses their opinion that they don't like it, people get all bent out of shape and start calling the person names or telling them to go listen to Bieber or some other crop like that. This sounds nothing like live wire I get its a cover and you should make it your own but a cover should at least sound something like the original
fuuuuuucccckkk ooooooffffffffffffff
The dark and twisty version of this song..still not the same without Vince Neil
I thought I was going to hate this, but it does something weird to me.. :)
what the fuck. this is a joke,
John Corabi should of sung this version
Bullshit corporate feel good rock version, total opposite of Motley Crue, might as well have been Blink 182 or Green day.Can now understand why a lot of Crue fans hate Sixx am.
No.
Wtf **** Nikki you kill motley crue. let it rest in peace.. Dont touch Crue' s legacy anymore
This version just doesn’t do it for me
So much for never playing MC tunes with this band.
He promised not to play Motley Crue songs with any other band, because he wrote that songs for Crue
FUCK NO.
This is horrible. Very disappointed in Nikki. He said he would never use a Motley song. I get it is his song but that was a terrible remake!
People don't like sixx am cuz their just too scared of their feelings
Motley Crue has been my inspiration in life since I was a kid, but what you did with this song, I'm sorry but it fucking sucks!
What the fuck is this
Destruction of one legendary song by its own writer
This is terrible. Nikki you really need to hang it up.
He doesnt need to hang it up.....Obviously you cant appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into re-writing a song and still making it a viable recording....They did a great job on it
go listen to Justin Bieber ya poser.
Well you have a small forehead
Whitecloud 94
Youre pretty ignorant.....BTW, where would I find all of your top 10 hits that you wrote? Pretty sure your music (if youve ever written anything) didnt make the top 1,000,000...Justin Bieber did, GO FIGURE
Oh forgive me. I'm so sorry to offend you and the greatest singer of all time.
He still sucks.
The song is LITERALLY called "Live wire" but it seems like he's singing it half asleep rather than full of energy.
This is crap. Period.
I think this is just the wrong sound for this song
wtf smh
Live slow. :(
I just barfed all over this #barfed
GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY
You're entitled to your opinion, but NEVER call Sixx AM or James Michael gay! !!!!!
Gayyy
+Matt Johnson l am not going to stoop to your level, which is beneath me and Sixx AM.
Its the fact that their first album was amazing.....100% loved it....but this remake is horrible to day the least
