    Shane- I've been following your channel for several years. I work for an electrical company here in MI, we have 90 techs on any one day working in the field. When Covid came along, I was finally taken off the back burner and put on the front line. I created a PowerApp that handles the usual Covid questions for any job our Tech finds himself on.
    From there, I've started to do the Tech "Daily Worksheets" where I track their hours and give the company a nice spreadsheet at the end of the week.
    It's a world of difference than where my company was 8 months ago, still using paper and pencil.
    Today, I learned- through the grapevine, that my company thought I could do better and brought in a 3 party consultant to look at my Apps.
    A majority of what I've learned, are from your videos.
    I am pleased to report, that the 3rd party not only liked my coding, but offered me a 2nd job with the Approval of my boss at the company I already work for.
    You, sir, deserve a bit of gratification.
    Thanks dude. You've really helped a guy out.

    one thing that i still feel as a big missing piece with the current situation, where due to covid a big part of the world works from home, and gets everything via Teams, is that i can't create a meeting invitation, where i add the "Teams meeting" like when in outlook i simply click on it so it creates the "virtual meeting" link and instance. The ability to message each other within the App is exactly the kind of thing I want to implement to achieve this goal.

    Love your videos. We are learning to build power apps right now for an upcoming initiative. Rumour has it that power apps are only accessible by those who also have access to the power apps studio. We were encourage to build inside teams instead. If a power app is embedded into teams AFTER its built like you showed, would anyone with access to the team channel on teams be able to view the app? Our company just merged with another, and info in the app will need to be accessible by both sets of employees. Which is currently just in teams.

    Shane - Great topic, as always. Such a pleasure to see such high-quality videos. Thanks for your hard work. I'm very new to this type of app and I wondered if you could tell me whether an app such as this could be used by a group OTHER than a company with a tenant. For instance, I am part of a small group of volunteers in my city who maintain our hiking trails, We have just launched a new Adopt-a-Trail program where hikers can sign up to do light maintenance of small trail sections. This would be such a great way for these random users to be able to submit their hours, activity reports, comments into Teams where I might be able to figure out how to aggregate that data into a spreadsheet/List/database. But there is no 'company' that all potential users belong to. And it would be unlikely that (m)any of them even have a Microsoft Account, much less an O365 subscription. Any idea if this could work for this kind of use case? Thanks so much!

    • @ShanesCows
      @ShanesCows  4 года назад

      With Power Apps the user always has to be authenticated and have a license. What if instead you let people submit data via Forms and then you go from there?ruclips.net/video/462l8JuJ9xM/видео.html

Sheet 2 - is the detail of the record the user selects on Sheet1. Goal would be to filter sheet1 by a group and then allow user to select the next filtered record by simply clicking the next button on Sheet2. I'm assuming I would need to build a collection that updates whenever a filter on Sheet1 is selected. Thanks!

We often have to notify the entire "Team" within a Teams Channel and use Tags for that - having to select 10 or more people in the ComboBox is going to take more time than simply copy and paste the text into Teams Channel and then adding the @mention-TAG manually there:-)

    Why does an App developed in PowerApps work one way when running and testing it in development, but when you save and publish it to Teams it can work quite differently. I believe this has to with the speed, but I would LOVE to get your thoughts on this and/or some videos or reference to videos that talk about what causes this to happen. I know have to code and then test in Teams to ensure that the application won't break for the user. I've even had to make my PowerApp less user friendly just to get it to work when running it from Teams. This also happens if you run it from the URL link as well (FYI). Thanks for any help.

      Not sure. If yo have a way to determine the license is in use that flow can talk to then yes.

    One question, if the Teams channel id and group id do not change, can we add the id's to a static data source connector like excel? Then we can load those in the appstart and reference them easier?
