Howard Freaking Jones, man. Talented, thoughtful, humble, best hair in the business, and cute to boot. AND STILL ROCKIN' IT ALL THESE YEARS LATER. I finally got to see him live last week and it was the best concert money I've ever spent. HOJO!!
I quite agree. I don't know of any other musician as Howard Jones who can sing, operate synths and drum machines and think ahead at the same time to press buttons here and there without any aid. I remember being blown away by what I saw back then, even though Thomas Dolby was doing the same thing. I prefer this retro-set up compared to the stripped down modern day all-in-one rig's where everything is less tempramental.
Howard is a one man synth band. How he does it Lord only knows. He's playing one bit of the song with one hand and another with his other hand. Howard is so COOL!
Great song. I don't think even Howard could have been playing all the intstruments you can hear on this live. He must have had a backing tape of some kind.
No tapes. He uses sequencers. If you notice right before the bridges and choruses, he reaches down to the lowest tier of his rig to change the sequence. If he was using a backing tape, he wouldn't be able to do all the ad-libbing on the Moog Prodigy (the synthesizer he straps around his neck)unless he timed it just right. The way HoJo does his live performances is just brilliant.
@@zibbybone Yes, believe he has a SDS-V (with the simmons sequencer) and Drumulator (I think) for drums synched together, synth sequences are provided by a SCI Pro One and it's simple internal sequencer (which Howard had to reprogram for each song as AFAIK it had no memory) which is stopped and started as the song requires.

He's a pure genius. We love you, Howard!
Howard has done loads of remastering of late ,he should remaster this concert to go with his 30 anniversary dvd which he is currently working on.

He met Jed in the London underground when Jed was dancing for coins. They hit it off right away. :)
