Exactly, for Kingdom hearts the creators explicitly said Cloud and Aeris were *there* to clear up the misunderstanding in FFVII about who Cloud was supposed to be with. I think that's pretty final! CloudxTifa never DID happen; notice at the beginning of AC he's living alone in AERIS' church? At the end of the game, Cloud decides to dedicate his life to going "to meet" Aeris?
Cloud found something in Aerith that he could trust.
And from Aerith's point of view, well, it WAS made clear that she loves Cloud, and not Zack. Also, she said that she wants to meet Cloud. In the Japanese culture, that means that you want to have a romantic relationship with someone...So...Its left quite obviously hanging that CloudxAerith are the true intended couple.

"Life" and "love" are intertwined. This story tells the theme of "love" through "life". When you truely love somebody/something with all your heart, you are willing to give up your life for them. A direct analogy is Aerith giving her life for the life of the planet and its inhabitants. At the same time, what hurts the most is losing someone you love -> Cloud's pain of losing Aerith. On the other hand, when you truely love someone/something, you'll live for them too =)

I know right? Cloud x Aerith will always be my OTP, and even IF I had all of the proof in the world pointing towards Cleris as the true canon couple most people wouldn't want to hear it anyway. In the end it's up to Square Enix you know? They don't want to lose fans from either side of the LT so they try to throw in a mix of scenes that could go either way. It's all up to interpretation really.

That's in Advent Children. The red ribbon of fate is invisible and ties two star crossed lovers together. Romeo and Juliet were tied with the ribbon; and so are Cloud and Aerith.

However, the makers of Final Fantasy VII and Advent Children clearly stated in an interview that Cloud was in love with Aeris, and he hated himself because he felt that he could have done something more to save her. Meeting her conciousness in several different areas of the movie, he was finally able to learn how to move on. Yeah Tifa and Vincent had a lot to do with it, but it wasnt as clearly emphasized as it was between him and aeris.
SquareEnix officially stated that that "trailer" was a Tech demo to show what could be done with the PS3. I'm hoping they actually do remake the game, though, that would be great. Final Fantasy VII is the greatest game of all time.
Apparently, in the original planning FFVII was supposed to be a love story for Cloud and Aeris; the plot just got far too big for its briches and the love story was pushed into the semi-background. Tifa was added late, LATE in development. The love story that was meant for Cloud and Aeris is said to have been moved to FFVIII, which is why those characters may seem slightly half-baked. Especially Squall. (Can't judge that, as I haven't played FFVIII, myself.)

See my above post. He said it When he went back to Nibleheim, and recalled it twice in the modern day, once at Aerith's house, once in Kalm. It was in response to his mother telling him he should find and older girl.
Guys, I know I don't have any right to talk but we should just stop arguing about this! Cloud's going to be alone forever because the way I see it Sqaure Enix will NEVER come out and say, "oh, well Tifa is his love DUH!" or "OMGZ guys like Aeris is Cloud's number 1!!33" because than they would be losing fans from either side of the LT. Which, ofcourse, means they would be losing money.

I love you for making this. This is the only fandom where the hero is almost universally misunderstood and disliked and the CANON couple gets shoved to the background. CloudxAeris isn't an opinion, it's the plot-necessary, creator-intended CANON couple. CloudxTifa ain't gonna happen. They're weren't childhood friends! Tifa doesn't even know the *real* Cloud, she liked the person he pretended to be; Aeris saw through it and helped him become himself again. Sorry about the rant. Just bugs me.
In response to his mother. And the exchange is repeated twice. Once when he recalls his trip home after Aerith insists he spend the night, and again in Kalm when he recounts the Nibleheim event. In this latter event, Aerith was there to hear him state that he was not interested in older women.
I'm sorry if life isn't going the way you want it right now. There are more important things to do than continue arguing with eachother. No one is perfect and a lot of people seem ignorant of other things and it does become irksome. But there are better ways to correspond without getting frustrated or angry. I'll keep you in mind, today. =)

Heeheehee....Believe me, all the people that really know FFVII, know that CloudxAerith are canon. Its quite obvious...And I cannot for the life of me see why people think that CloudxTifa is a good couple. First: Cloud was NOT a childhood friend of Tifa. They mutually knew eachother, but they weren't friends. ALSO: Tifa fell in love with an image she made up for Cloud, the "Dream Boy" she always wanted him to be.
a)I am not stupid because my opinion is different. b)Tifa shunned Cloud when they were children. The "promise" was the first and last time they spoke when they were younger. c)Tifa helped Cloud get through the lifestream after Aeris' death- but AERIS made him realize that he WAS NOT who he had become. At the end TIFA realized the person she had been in love with WASN'T the real Cloud. Fuck the website, pay attention to the GAME.

Besides, I'm pretty sure that Nomura said that Cloud and Aerith are in KH to clear up the confusion of who was the canon couple of FFVII. And originally, there were going to be three people as the main characters: Cloud, Aerith, and Barret, I think...*can't quite recall who the last person was.* So...Tifa, sadly, was just a fanservice. Nothing more. HOPEFULLY I have given enough proof that CloudxAerith is canon, but you know the CloTis, they do NOT listen to reason. Ignorance is bliss....*sigh*
Thank god this video is no longer swamped with the pointless LTD about who Cloud loves more.

In KH, Cloud was looking for Sephiroth, not Aerith. He says it himself in the Final Mix version.

I know about the red string of fate. What I don't see is the evidence that it applies to Cloud and Aerith. And since extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, the red string of fate- an extraordinary claim to be sure- requires extraordinary evidence. If you can't provide sufficient evidence- and thus far, you aren't applying any, the only reasonable conclusion is that it isn't there.

Angelic, while you may feel that RUclips comments are solely for C&C on the video, it would seem the majority of RUclipsrs disagree, and use the medium as a mini-discussion forum. The fact that you can respond to responses would suggest that RUclips recognizes the possibility of this use.

yeah, what about Yuffie? She likes Cloud too, and she's also cuter than Tifa. Plus, in the date scene, if you get her, she actually kisses Cloud... neither Tifa nor Aerith do that. Cloud's needs to have some spunk in his life.

Tifa isn't even a real person in KH2. She's a physical representation of Cloud's light; that's pretty much why you only see Sora & company talk to her. So saying KH2 is Cloti is pretty ridiculous if you ask me, people always argue in the FF7 fandom that Aeris is dead so Cleris can't work but in KH2 Tifa isn't even a REAL PERSON. I find that ironic, and fitting. Cleris all the way!

When did he say that? Did he actually come out and say it, or did you interpret something he said for meaning that? Everyone interprets things differently hence the LT Triangle.
Cloud is no more connected to Aerith by the ribbon than the rest of AVALANCHE. Besides which, he's with Tifa, and Aerith herself supports that.
I understand this may damage your favorite ship pairing, but it is part of the canon. Deal with it and move on with your lives.

No. Neither couple were linked by the ribbon of fate. For one, Romeo and Juliet came from a culture which did not HAVE the gorram ribbon legend, and they were simply two stupid teens who allowed their passions to destroy themselves.
I don't like the matching but I like the tragic love thing even though if you read On the Road to A Smile Cloud gets with Tifa after Aerith dies *cheers silently* But I agree that no one should give bad ratings because of the Pairings. That goes for all the Cloud Aerith fans that rate tifa cloud bad.
