Growing Watermelon Plant Time Lapse - Seed to Fruit (110 Days)

  • Опубликовано: 26 сен 2024
  • Full watermelon growing stages were demonstrated in this time lapse of growing sugar baby watermelon from seed to harvested fruits over 110 days. Sugar baby watermelon seed was germinated and planted in a 12-inch container with potting mix. During the 1st week, it sprouted nicely and started to develop into mature plant at about 7-8 weeks. Around 67th day, hand-pollination was carried pollen out from male flowers onto two female flowers. After that, it took about 6 more week for the fruit bearing and growing to about 2-3 pounds. Watermelon flesh is super sweet, crisp, and tastes marvelous right off the bat.

I'm here cause my 7year old wanted to plant a seed from a watermelon I bought. And me not thinking it would grow agreed. Now he's very proud of his plant and I'm looking up how big this thing could get 😅

Late last year my eight year old nephew got a lime seed from a really small lime and asked my mother if it would grow and she told him 'No', he was disappointed and wanted to throw the seed away but I told him to challenge his grandma and plant the seed anyway to see if she was right. The tree is currently about 2 feet tall with several branches.

When sprouting, young plants can all look the same. However, one they start growing, they become different. Strawberry’s grow into a flower, then turn into a fruit. Kiwis grow huge and tall over one tiny seed. And melons slouch down and have a very huge melon grow on a stalk connected to a wide but not tall plant. Amazing how each sprout has their own genetic code.

We have varieties that are ready to harvest in 60 to 70 days. But the video was awesome

We've had 70+ degree weather but here on day 15 overnight might drop to 55 for a couple hrs then crawl back up over the day.
Should we just put a bucket over the plant or something to keep the soil warm?

My husband & I have just started planting this past month. I just put two seeds in those tiny little starter boxes about 20 minutes before watching this video 🥲
