Growing Watermelon Plant Time Lapse - Seed to Fruit (110 Days)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 26 сен 2024
- Full watermelon growing stages were demonstrated in this time lapse of growing sugar baby watermelon from seed to harvested fruits over 110 days. Sugar baby watermelon seed was germinated and planted in a 12-inch container with potting mix. During the 1st week, it sprouted nicely and started to develop into mature plant at about 7-8 weeks. Around 67th day, hand-pollination was carried pollen out from male flowers onto two female flowers. After that, it took about 6 more week for the fruit bearing and growing to about 2-3 pounds. Watermelon flesh is super sweet, crisp, and tastes marvelous right off the bat.

I'm here cause my 7year old wanted to plant a seed from a watermelon I bought. And me not thinking it would grow agreed. Now he's very proud of his plant and I'm looking up how big this thing could get 😅
Ur seven ?
Late last year my eight year old nephew got a lime seed from a really small lime and asked my mother if it would grow and she told him 'No', he was disappointed and wanted to throw the seed away but I told him to challenge his grandma and plant the seed anyway to see if she was right. The tree is currently about 2 feet tall with several branches.
@@joyboy9072 Based on your literacy, I’m guessing that you’re seven years old.
Same here. Genuinely surprised the seeds are still viable from a store bought watermelon.
@@nutellasweet7529 nothing wrong with that tbh
The fact that it started from a tiny seed to a whole watermelon factory is insane
It is Almighty Allah who created the seed, sprouted the plant, and brought forth the fruits. Praise be to Almighty Allah, the Lord of the Worlds!
"Without His (Allah's) knowledge, no fruit sprouts from a seed..." (Holy Quran, 41/47)
"Undoubtedly, Allah is the one who splits the grain and the seed. He brings forth the living from the dead, and the dead out of the living. That's what Allah is. So how do you turn around?" (Holy Quran, 6/95).

One the of greatest videos on living organism I have ever seen, standing applause for this one👏
Watching my sugar baby grow at the moment looks like it's at 73 days right now. What a Joy
My watermelons are around the size of a quarter after a week. Seems a bit small right? How are yours coming along?
@@antoniot7928 good so far. It's about 5 inches wide now. Fits inside my stretched palm. Growing slowly, maybe mid next month, I could harvest. Yielding 5 watermelons.
@@Darksky600 I’m growing sugar baby from Ferry-Morse seed company. Plant is a little over 3 weeks old and is starting to grow fast after I transplanted. How was your harvest? Seems like an easy watermelon to grow.
How many watermelon did your plant produce? Mine is in a 5 gallon pot and has 4 watermelon growing at the moment. More male flowers are popping us so I expect more females to appear soon also. Very surprised at how vigorous this plant is, and in a 5 gallon pot.
@elijahisrael86 I harvested 2 each from 2 pots, did not turn out right. It was mushy and semi sweet.
Intellectually, I've known plants are living, moving things since at least preschool, but...man, those little feeler things are definitely helping the vines figure out where to grow, aren't they? That sure is a living creature!
Just like the cows and chickens you eat.
Those feelers are called Tendrils
@@sw0578 They're meant to be eaten. Can't change what God created. All creatures live off the earth.
How did intelligence get inside a plant 🧠 🤔

Finally someone who grows more than one
ikr he made me happy!
I have grossly underestimated how big this plant will get
*sigh* same. I have to build a bigger planter box for them because I dumped a bunch of seeds into the current one.

This is exactly what I was looking for! A time lapse to find out what my plant should look like! Tyvm! 😎 🍉
I currently have more than 20 seeds that sprouted in my garden, at first it was an experiment but I came to RUclips after my mom continually expressed great concern about the space. I live in an apartment with a small balcony… and now I’m also a tad concerned
so uhh.. how did that go
I also want to know! 😂
OMG same. Like a got a long pot and my balcony has a net. It's big enough to fit two people but half of it is taken by storage. I thought it would be best to grow cucumbers, okra and watermelon. The cucumbers can climb the net and railing, the okra and grow and watermelon can take my balcony completely. I'm a bit scared after watching this that it's going to take over my okra too😅
I've done the same on my balcony. I planted 3 seeds, it's literally taken over one side. I've still got 30days to go 😊

Thank you so much for this comment just this monday ive just started growing a blueberry bush!!
I grew tomatos and peppers

Thanks this was very informative
Those vines certainly weren't shy. Good job!
True 🤣
Wow, incredible time lapse! 🍉 The growth from seed at [0:45] to the fruit at [2:20] is amazing. Thanks for sharing this impressive journey! 👏
This makes me very excited!!!!! Praying for a fruitful harvest this year 🙏🥰
Nature is so magical 🧙♀️
Nothing magical it’s all perfectly made where a tomato could get perfectly red from a ball of fire that’s 70 million miles away.
I never knew I could plant this at my backyard. But it sprouts so much leaves
Thats almost equivalent of living in a city and being constantly annoyed by the presence of people because they have too many fingers
Simply amazing, I had no idea it was so "simple".
I thought it was a much smaler plant/process, this looks will worth the time.
Will be planting this summer.
No way that tiny little seed grew THAT big😱🌱🍉
Just look at yourself ;)
Ư
It's only get as big as 6lb head baby for most sugar baby
Awesome video. I think I have watched many of your videos while waiting on plants to grow, get a rough idea what they look like at each stage of growth. I may have planted my melon late this year. But I have at least 1 forming right now. I have mine trained to climb up a supported string
All from one little seed!! You make it look so easy!!
Masha Allaha tabaarakalaah
I don't know what you write
nothing to do with Allah.. it's just proteins replicating with local rules
It means that God willed this
Had no idea these would grow like this. I just threw like ten seeds in an area and it’s taken over my yard lol i will be better prepared next time lol
They look so much more delicious than the store bought
this is one of the best time lapse videos ive ever seen
had some mystery watermelons sprouted in my blueberry pot it is so random
Loved it for my Pre-K students! Thank you!
I love your videos man, I'm trying to grow a watermelon in my back yard. keep it up.
So amazing to see this. I can’t wait to experience this ❤
I've decided to have a Backyard garden at some point coz
1. They wouldn't be filled with harmful pollutants and fertilizer waste
2. It's Cheap and Aesthatic
there is also the satisfaction that comes from watching them grow.
When the time lapse shows the melons developing, it makes them look like they are balloons gradually getting blown up.
Thank you. I’ve watched this so many times to see how my plants are progressing. How did the flowers get pollinated?
We used a brush to pollinate flowers
@@eLapseTime one good tip is to take the male flowers and put the pollen from the male flower onto the female flowers. Apparently it helps them grow better.
Plants and nature are so fascinating😮
Good i growing one right now 😊
I like how it turned from a little plant into a whole jungle
1:33 here it comes
That's a beautiful plant ❤ even before the fruit
The key to successful watermelon farming is finding the right balance of water and sunlight. Nature's harmony at its best!
The watermelon is tasty that watermelon has tasty give it😁😁😇
Wow baby watermelons are cute
They do look mini
Okay, I’m now gonna turn my whole backyard into a watermelon farm
The watermelon looks so natural~ :D
yikes, itttsss aalliiivveee! This was creepy but beautiful and wonderous, the large growth of one seed. ❤
Oh this one has the spiral shape the old ones had!
My watermelon seed took a month to get to his 2 week stage. Must have been optimal growing conditions.

You’ve got a talent for growing
How much inches deep did you plant it?
Thank you so much
Got a nice plant growing outside now. Huge with flowers but no fruit. Am I being impatient? You only got 2 melons. Is that typical? Cool video.
A watermelon plant has both male and female (flower with tiny fruit near stem) flowers, you can try hand-pollination them, simply rubbing a male flower to a female one. Typical, each plant will produce 2 to 4 fruits.
How long u keep the light on them
Very very interesting seeing, how you growing some plants and observe their growth in a timelapse😊😊😊👍👍👍👍🤩🤩🤩🤩
I can't wait to see a little melon form!!! ❤
Don't forget to give it a little rinse before cutting in to it! :) Awesome video, thank you for sharing!
I may have started mine too early 😂
I have crimson sweet starting Indoors under a grow light it's not warm enough out in my zone quite yet. This has me rethinking 😂
I've got my sugar baby seeds just this morning from seed shop. I guess for a 10-inch container I'll get 1 to 2 fruits, right? Thank a lot.🍉
It might be a bit small. I would suggest a 5 - 10 gallons or 14-inch+ container.
@@eLapseTime Hi hello. Thank you very much. Cheers.

A literal Watermelon seed:
Most simple and straight to the point video I ever saw/seen
I love 🍉, it's one of my favorite fruits!
Me too every summer 🍉. Yummy.
2:31 Mmmm, 🍉.
When sprouting, young plants can all look the same. However, one they start growing, they become different. Strawberry’s grow into a flower, then turn into a fruit. Kiwis grow huge and tall over one tiny seed. And melons slouch down and have a very huge melon grow on a stalk connected to a wide but not tall plant. Amazing how each sprout has their own genetic code.
Depois de muito andar em círculos, percebi que estou crescendo. Spinnn
Amazing 👏
I have one ( baby watermelon 🍉 )
growing in a 2 gallon container, what do you think would be best size container to transfer to?
For reading me, thank you
Watermelon plant will need lots of water and soil. I would suggest a 5 to 10 gallon container.
@@eLapseTime appreciate your response, thank you 🌞🌱
It looks like im at day 35 of my sugar baby watermelon. I can't wait!
We have 3 of these growing and they barely have enough room, we definitely need to move them -_-
Same lol
Hi, thanks for the video. I'm curious re. where you grew this plant. Is this indoors or outdoors? Did the plant manage to get direct sunlight? Thanks.
Hi, It was grown indoors under grow lights.
@@eLapseTime Hi, do you mind sharing the lighting setup you used? Right now I own a round 10" lamp with aluminum reflector which I would use with a 2200 lumen, 5000K light bulb. What did you use?
Also - your container looks like it's between 5 and 10 gallon... did i get it right?
Thank you.
@@analuizanb It was a LED panel, I wasn't really sure how many lumens on it, but the power was about 100W. My container was around 2-3 gallons. However, I would suggest 5 gallons + for a better result.
@@eLapseTime Very nice. It grew beautifully. Thanks again for the info 👍
Beautiful!

VERY COOL!
Fantastical video.
I grew a watermelon in 2020 and it succeeded
It only took 1 min and 12 seconds for me to subscribe!
Can I use the seeds inside the watermelon after eating it to grow it?
I acually really enjoy it
I wanted to plant a water melon have a bunch of seeds in different places, can’t believe I have to wait 2 months
dang that gets way bigger then expected
We have varieties that are ready to harvest in 60 to 70 days. But the video was awesome
We've had 70+ degree weather but here on day 15 overnight might drop to 55 for a couple hrs then crawl back up over the day.
Should we just put a bucket over the plant or something to keep the soil warm?
My husband & I have just started planting this past month. I just put two seeds in those tiny little starter boxes about 20 minutes before watching this video 🥲
😂 great video that’s what I was thinking about garden with no weeds fr
Great video just what I needed to see thank
How many hours of light you are giving them
The light was on 24/7.
1:30 - cycle of baby watermelon 💓💓💓❤️❤️❤️.
Uhmm how did the water melon grow you didint pollinate the male flower with the female
I did hand-pollination. It just wasn't shown in the video, but it was included in description.
Wait there are *genders?*
Yes, watermelon has both male and female flowers on one plant.
Never take the simple thing for granted.
beautiful capture
Did you grow it with a grow light with out turning of the light ?
Was this just from one seed
