Not easy singing with a choir like that rather than your own musicians and singers...super, loving performance from Engelbert ...that outstanding voice at the end! and the gorgeous, sexy way (don't think Enge still realises!) that he walks off at the end! Adorable.
Not until now, after some thirtieth times I've watched it over the years, have I discovered that the thing that he constantly tell people throughout his career that he still gets nervous on stage after all these years is true! Just look at how he looks so stiff the first sentence of "blue christmas", and how he was so stunned that he almost missed the entrance of the second line "I'll be so blue thinking about you". He actually was late and came in after "I'll be", and later, he even sang the lyrics wrong on "decorations are red", and changed it to "celebrations are red"... only after a while could he settle his emotions down and sing with more confidence! What an interesting thing!
