I grapple & try different combinations in order to execute the move & I wind up having to restart the match because I'm almost out of time, instead.
Well, I haven't had this problem myself, but someone has commented before that they performed a DDT instead of a Body Slam. I suggest this:
1. Make sure their health is in 'Critical' condition.
2. Press the 'X'(PS3) or 'A' (360) button to get in grapple mode, then press the 'X'/'A' button again.
3. Don't hold the button, tap. Also, don't move in any direction, tap both times without moving the Left Analog.
4. If the Body Slam is not performed, try attempting while your opponent isn't groggy, let him walk towards you and attempt. If he is grounded, pick him up, punch once, and attempt the Body Slam.
Hopefully this helps. I've played many times and never had this problem, so I can only guess and hope it works out for you. Let me know how it turns out.
In PS3 all you have to do is grapple him by pressing X and then press X again to bodyslam him.

Let’s count how many times JR says his “tremendous title match” line throughout all the matches in this game where a championship is on the line. lol
5:05-10:00 for anyone watching this who still plays or does play wwe 2k14 if u wanna win the match quicker and not worry about running out of time, try striking a whole bunch of times. If u successfully do a bunch of strike combos without any reversals it’ll get ur opponent’s health down in quicker fashion. Hopefully this helps for anyone who needs it

Shame it started first with WWE 2K15 with PC version.
But 2K15 was big disappointed.
The only good game after that was WWE 2K16.

@KUPO360 Can you tell how you performed the body slam @ 19:14?
You press the "X" grapple button to get in a lock on position, then press "X" again, but your opponents damage must be in Critical, otherwise you won't be able to lift him.
KUPO360 Thanks but when I do that command, Hogan does a ddt not a body slam. Do you have any other advise?

The Savage/Steamboat one is inaccurate because George "The Animal" Steele was in the actual match and he isn't there in 2k14.
it happens a lot in 30 years of wrestlemania, a lot of matches have some minor differences
