I’ve refrained from commenting on most videos, but the bike did not belong to tonkbulids. He only filmed the unboxing. The account who commented is my brother, not tonka’s personal account
@@AdamEspositoYT yea he got a replacement already. The burned bike got taken to Luna the morning after for inspection, the rumor of refusal to bring it isn’t true either. They built the new bike and gave my dad a tour. The fire was originally the battery which sprayed out like sparks and the fire in the video is the plastic parts catching on fire from that after my brother dismounted which is why it doesn’t look like a lithium fire, people were too busy helping him get to safety than record from the first second of the incident as he’s only 16
Awesome info thanks! Glad to know everyone’s safe and taken care of. Too bad you have the scud but I hope you get the greenway right away. I’m looking at getting an mx5 as well
Luna already released a statement on the issue. It was a sub standard battery. They replaced the bike and are replacing the few bikes that had batteries from that manufacturer. But you probably already knew that
I heard that the battery got built wrong therefore it blew up If this is true do you think that we should wait before buying it so that they make it right or do you think it was another ebike
@@Drmapss101 ya the battery company was Scud. As of now all the mx5s will have the greenway battery. The new greenway batteries haven’t had any blow up. I have greenway on my surron. But these things can happen. I will be getting one as soon as I’m financially able lol I’m not worried about the battery at all honestly.
It is real and it was in fact already resolved. Dude got a new bike already with a different battery pack. I’ll be getting on for the channel so if you want to see it subscribe!

I didn’t know! Thanks for the clarification. So your bro got his new bike already?? What actually happened to cause the fire?

We unfortunately had the skud battery and not the greenway one, and on top of that they found it to be faulty which resulted in the recall

@@AdamEspositoYT thank you! My dad and brother both love the Mx5 and do recommend it. From what I’ve seen it’s a great bike and we just got unlucky

Hopefully he got some kind of warranty that’s horrible to see..
i agree. I'm sure he will as long as it was nothing that he did to the bike
Fake
It’s not fake
The battery that burned looks much taller than the stock mx5 battery
@@MotoAlias could be all a bunch of bull. I dont know but I’d still consider buying one
@@AdamEspositoYT ya I'm skeptical about this story. Regardless the mx5 is the superior bike in its class. If this is real it'll be resolved.
