SpaceX Starship SN11 - Landing Burn RUD

  • This is a real quick, highly speculative, visualization of what I think may have happened to Starship SN11 in a cover of fog on March 30th, 2021. This is if it had an engine failure on ignition of the second Raptor during the landing flip to horizontal.
    Keep any eye out for my new animation, The History of Starship ; Starhopper to SN11. Which should be ready in about a week!

    if it weren't for the fog, we would have seen one of the coolest RUD's in history. Just massive chunks of starship raining around the many cameras that were placed around there.

    hi Nick your animation is great, but I believe (according to my sources) that the starship did not have enough thrust to switch vertically.

  • @dosomething3
    @dosomething3 3 года назад

    Starship was falling at a larger than nominal terminal velocity. This indicates that there was fuel left over in the main tank. This would hinder the flip maneuver. This would also serve as explosive during engine final ignition.

  • @reagank.2268
    @reagank.2268 3 года назад +3

    It's a good animation, but too fast. I don't think it had even started the flip when it exploded. It lit a single raptor and 0.89 seconds later, it exploded.

    • @NickHenning3D
      @NickHenning3D  3 года назад +3

    One of the notable things are the aft fins. Usually after a RUD they are easily spotted in the wreckage. This time it is looking like they were blown apart by the force of the blast. Nothing on the ground looks much like an aft fin.

    To me, this render has the explosion happen maybe a second or two too early well before it's completed the flip. Via any video of SN11s flight you can hear the explode straight after just 1 engine relight not, relight _ _ _ boom
    I still don't know weather to blame the 2nd engine Elon spoke of or the FTS doing its thing. The nosecone landing spot is extremely peculiar or might have just been a result of the angle that sn11 blew up
