Plus, I check out fan-favorites like Symbolica and Python-and trust me, you don’t want to miss my reactions! 😱
Efteling truly blew me away, and I honestly think it’s one of Europe’s best theme parks. If you love immersive experiences, jaw-dropping rides, and all-around magic.
This Video Was Filmed on the 19th January 2025
Love that you added Efteling music to the video
Thank You!, I wasn't sure at first but I thought I'd give it a go
I recommend you go on a week day next time ;) You happened to have picked one of the busiest days imaginable with the Unox days, and that does the waiting lines no good. Regardless, Dance Macabre will stay busy for a while though, it being so new.
Efteling does have an excellent (and free) app that has a map, routes and all queues visible so you can plan your day more.
I'll Definitely Try next time, the park was busy but I wouldn't say it really felt overly busy, I can imagine danse macabre will stay busy for at least a few More months, I did use the app at points but I couldn't keep checking because of taking gloves off in the freezing cold 🤣
Nice video love the park. Was also there on 19 januari
@SjoerdTje69 It's a Great Park!, Not sure what the orange hats everywhere were for though 🤣
@mylifeandcoasters there was a Unox event where people could win tickets. And they got the hats near the entrance.
@SjoerdTje69 oh right, what is unox? I assume it's a big Dutch brand?
@mylifeandcoasters Unox mostly makes soup, sausages, noodles and way more. It’s only in Belgium Germany and the Netherlands in most big stores.
@SjoerdTje69 Thank you, Thought it was a bit odd around the park 🤣
Nice vlog about Efteling ! It seemed like you enjoyed it and appreciate the park for what is. You mentioned that they need a stand out rollercoaster which is true but there is a problem. Efteling is built in a nature reserve with lots of species of birds and other animals. Efteling is only allowed to build on 11% of this nature reserve. I believe they were actively busy to get some more land to build on but they have to get permission from the local authorities.
Efteling is the second most visited themepark in Europe. Disneland Paris third most visitdd and Europapark in Germany number one most visited themepark in Europe. Efteling is not owned by a big corporation like Disney. It is owned by a foundation that puts all the money that is made back into the park and doesnt go to rich owners. Because Efteling is owned by a foundation prices of entry, food, merchandise and hotel are lower then Disney prices. Fun fact the first ever madhouse was build in Efteling. Other themeparks copied the idea of a madhouse and made them arguably better. Python is the only ride that doesnt really have theming. Back in the day when Python first opened it was the fastest and longest rollercoaster in Europe. I think Efteling kept it for nostalgic reasons. Symbolica back in the day was the most expensive ride in the Benelux costing 35 million euros to build. Danse Macabre was estimated to cost 25 million but they went 10 million over budget so it maches the 35 million of Symbolica.
P.s. Disneyland Paris before it was built had asked Efteling to help them to know what European people like to see in a themepark in Europe and one Efteling Imagineer now works for Disney.
@2012inca oh wow, I didn't realise this, it would be really cool to see Python to have some major themeing, Definitely Felt more like good value on food & merchandise, but didn't realise that was the reason I can Definitely see danse macabre being the first of many of that ride types, this is really cool info to know so thanks for commenting :)
@mylifeandcoasters @mylifeandcoasters I agree with you ! The newly invented dynamic motion system of Danse Macabre could be great in other themeparks. If Disney could get their hands on something like that that, with a Disney budget they could great things with it. Dont know if other themeparks have a 35 million euro budget to build the ride tough. Efteling still sees Danse Macabre as a prototype and will still be adding things and altering settings. So you really liked Danse Macabre and Efteling. I believe you said Efteling was in your top 3 parks that is saying something. I heard some people from the UK even have year passes to Efteling which is quite a big distance to cover. One man from the UK went to Efteling as a 9 year old on a schooltrip on a bus. A pretty expensive school trip in the eyes of us Dutch people. As a child he was so impressed with Efteling he swore he would come back one day as an adult and he did very recently.
One of the first imagineers of Efteling wanted to keep the park as a fairytale story telling park but the rest of the staff wanted rollercoasters. This ended in a big argument and the imagineer left Efteling. If he had gotten his way there would be no rollercoasters in Efteling at all. Efteling didnt start as fairytale forest what most people think. It started as a main football field with 2 practice football fields and a playground. They started adding more and more to the playfround and more people started coming. Then they tought we have something here and decided to built the fairytale forest then people from all over the country started coming Efteling is very good to their staff so most of them are happy and honoured to work there. They can speak English and some even speak French or German. I have seen lots of rollercoaster fans diss Efteling because it doesnt have many coasters saying they were dissapointed and would never come back. You seem to really see the beauty and magic of Efteling.
Efteling opened in 1952, 3 years later Disney opened it's first park in 1955. Some Dutch people will tell you Walt Disney went to Efteling and took inspiration from Efteling. There is a black and white video of Walt Disney visiting The Netherlands in 1951. 1951 is when Efteling finished building the fairytale forest. He was here to have his cartoons narrated in Dutch. He did business a 30 minute drive from Efteling but no one knows if he really went to Efteling. They do know he visited 3 themeparks in Europe before he opened his own park. He did go to themepark Tivoli Gardens in Denmark which opened in 1843. He could also have gone to the oldest themepark in the world also in Denmark called Bakken. That themepark opened in 1583. Did you like Efteling enough to come back to it some time or do you say I have seen it once it is enough ?
What did you end up thinking of Dance Macabre?
@jemimus It's a Spectacular ride, presented perfectly, One of my favourite dark rides ever!
