This album is a masterpiece. To think that the record companies didn't believe in this project, but Cher was tenacious and eventually released it, and time proved them right. ❤❤❤
Still" My heart cried out for you Over an ocean And your pain cried out for me Across a wave You stood half dead, Numb to any emotion 'cause you were a prisoner And I was a slave We'd both stopped searching for Any acceptance And rejection always was our bitter pill 'cause, I have no precious gifts to give you... I only have four words Darling I love you... I love you Still I never thought someone would ever see, Or make a prisoner of my heart But like a warrior dressed in armor You carved your name in it, Right from the start... You held my soul a hostage In your tower on the hill And all I pray for when I sleep... Or lay awake, Is that you love me, Still ... My heart cried out for you over an ocean And your pain cried out for me across a wave 'cause we hid half dead Numb to any emotion Now you are my prisoner, And I am your slave We'd both stopped searching for any acceptance Rejection had always been our bitter pill And I have no precious gifts to give you... Oh, I only have these words Darling I love you... I love you... Still Oh baby I love you I love you... still Oh baby I love you - still Baby I love - still I love you still Oh baby I love you I love you... still Oh baby I love you - still Baby I love - still I love you still

Was this for sonny. The lyrics sure feel like she subg this about their relationship I love how she refers to herself as a slave and he as a prisoner. She often said she felt like a slave in their marriage having no freedom. When I saw her preform with sonny on letterman it was easy to see that she still felt those feelings for him. I don't think she ever got over sonny... nor he her. It's like they have a mutual love at a distance. They know they cannot be togther but their hearts just don't care 😢😂❤
@@ReJoyce456Nowhere. People who have studied, contemplated, and mediated on the Bible know and understand that in this song, Cher is *not* talking about actual slavery, etc.; she is using that word as metaphor when talking about a codependent relationship. In my experience, people who quote the Bible-- orally or written, without being asked-- are merely *judging* others. I guess they forget the Matthew 7 scripture, "Judge not, lest ye be judged..." (unless they're Mormon. Joseph Smith changed the text to make it OK to judge as long as it's for "righteous" judgement. Please. The Commandment was JUDGE NOT). Anyway, to each their own. (Why is Jeffrey even listening to Cher if he's so God fearing and/or self-righteous? 😅)
It’s a crime that she has never performed this live. Such a great song.
I agree with you 😢😢😢😢
I'll say again...WE NEED THIS SONG ON SPOTIFY 💔💔💔
I am a huge cher fan, have just about listened to every album of hers. I would say this is probably one of her best songs.

I love Cher such a beautiful voice. No matter what she sings she crosses all genres

Still"
My heart cried out for you
Over an ocean
And your pain cried out for me
Across a wave
You stood half dead,
Numb to any emotion
'cause you were a prisoner
And I was a slave
We'd both stopped searching for
Any acceptance
And rejection always was our bitter pill
'cause, I have no precious gifts to give you...
I only have four words
Darling I love you...
I love you
Still
I never thought someone would ever see,
Or make a prisoner of my heart
But like a warrior dressed in armor
You carved your name in it,
Right from the start...
You held my soul a hostage
In your tower on the hill
And all I pray for when I sleep...
Or lay awake,

And I have no precious gifts to give you...

I love you still
You are with me always

My heart cried out for you
Over an ocean
And your pain cried out for me
Across the way
You here, half dead
Numb to any emotion
'Cause you were a prisoner
And I was a slave
We both stopped searching for any exceptions
And rejection always was our bitter pill
And I have no precious gifts to give you
I only have our words
Darling, I love you
I love you
Still
I never thought someone would ever see
Or make a prisoner of my heart
But like a warrior dressed in armor
You carved your name in it right from the start
You held my soul a hostage
In your tower on the hill
All I pray for when I sleep or lie awake
Is that you love me still
'Cause my heart cried out for you
Over an ocean
And your pain cried out for me
Across the way
'Cause we hid, half dead
Numb to any emotion
Now you are my prisoner
And I am your slave
We both stopped searching for any exceptions
And rejection had always been our bitter pill
And I have no precious gifts to give you
Oh, I only have these words
Darling, I love you

Lots of vulgarities in many lyrics to This Album Philippians 2:3 4
* clutches pearls * Oh No! Seriously. We're all adults here I think we can handle a little swearing.
Jeffrey, GET OVER YOURSELF!!!
*clutches pearls* , *jingles bracelets* , *taps high-heels* , "but... muh self-aggrandizing religious sanctimony!"
✨Vulgarities ⁉️Where⁉️✨🤨✨
