"Encanto" is a beautiful story. Once you watch the film and listen to the dialogue, you will understand why Bruno is not discussed. The film will make you smile, laugh, and cry as you watch the family tell their stories. Lots of Colombian imagery. The butterflies are part of the imagery. There are many references to Colombian author Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

It is the best in recent years of Disney storytelling. I loved this film. It wasn't the typical "princess in a tower vs. evil stepmother theme" which is refreshing. It was full of good storytelling and rich culture. The animation was beautiful.
Lin Manuel Miranda is a musical genius. There are tones of "Non-stop" from Hamilton towards the end of this song where everyone's parts overlap and it SHOULD be chaos but ends up beautiful.

My husband and I just watched Encanto for the 1st time last night. It was truly a Disney Masterpiece!!!!!! When we weren't jamming to the banger songs, we were trying to figure out about Bruno & why the Miracle, the Encanto, was dying. One thing I recommend if you don't know Spanish is to turn of subtitles for the Dos Oroguitas song... the lyrics of the song are translated and it adds to the meaning of the scene it goes along with.

I absolutely loved it. I will not give spoilers, but yes the green picture at the end is VERY IMPORTANT and MEANT to look like the main character (her name is Mirabel). I also wanted to point out something else about the song (again, no spoilers): Towards the end, when you had everyone singing together and layered together, Pepa (the woman in yellow) and Isabella (the girl in pink) are hitting the same note, I believe; Pepa's part went "It was our wedding day, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky" while Isabella's part said "He told me that the life of my dreams would be promised and someday be mine" the second half of both of those lines are sung together on the same note. I realized it later, it's so beautiful. To hear what I'm saying, check it at 6:08.

A broadway song writter and play write wrote all of these songs himself. Nobody else (lyric wise) That is probably why they are all are somewhat different from past Disney films (like how "Surface Pressure" just straight-up adressses anxiety)
Fun fact about this song, durring Delores' part (the girl who is the quiet singer) you can see Bruno walking across the balcony, and towards the end of that little part you can see him dancing a little bit like, "ooh my family is talking shit but damn my niece is killing it". Her power is also her incredible hearing. So her saying she hears him all the time is not only hinting towards him still hiding in the walls, but also because she knows he's right behind them. It could also be why she's really the only one who doesn't say anything bad about Bruno, just that he has a hard time because of his gift.

The girl with glasses asking about Bruno, Mirabel is confronted by her uncle and aunt, Felix and Pepa, telling her that they don't talk about Bruno--the black sheep in the family.
