    THANK YOU amazing job again ( I think the table you are using as a bench is a CHIPPENDALE!

      Thanks very much for watching. The table was left in my garage by the previous owners, I hope it isn't valuable as I have ruined it now!

    Hello, thanx for your video. I could not hear what kind of degrease you use? It was 1:10 of what? Greetings, Eric (from Holland)

    • @oldnutsgarage
      @oldnutsgarage  4 года назад

      Hi Eric, the degreaser, in the orange tank is Comma Hyperclean which I find really effective. The stuff mixed at 1 to 10 is Citric acid, bought as powder and is cheap and effective for rust removal as long as you are willing to give it time to do its stuff. Thanks for watching!

      @@oldnutsgarage Citric acid, Thanx I will try that!

    Thanks for another great video. I have just removed the knife edges for inspection, as I have the body shell off the chassis, and I have a small amount of wear, about 1mm, on both the knife edges and the tie rods, do you think I should change them all. Thanks

    • @oldnutsgarage
      @oldnutsgarage  3 года назад

      Hi George, no simple answer for that. If you are doing a full rebuild then logic would suggest replacing worn components as you come across them, Having said that 1mm of wear on original ( I assume ) Citroen parts would not stop me reusing them on my own car, I would just keep them well lubricated. Additionally, some of the aftermarket knife edges are soft and wear quickly so a change would be of little benefit. Not the most helpful answer I know, but both options have their drawbacks. Thanks for watching!

      @@oldnutsgarage They are the original I think, so I will reuse them. Thanks for the advice and thanks for the £80 you have saved me on spare parts

    Should there be a drain hole on the tube,I think my Dyane has one?

    • @oldnutsgarage
      @oldnutsgarage  4 года назад

      My Ami 8 had a drain hole but I think they were dropped later on, probably in the early 80's? I have about 6 cans knocking around the garage and a couple are early ones with locknuts on the tie rods, I will go and have a look and see if they have holes. Thanks again for watching.

    Hello. Can I ask you what do you use to keep internals lubricated? TIA

    • @oldnutsgarage
      @oldnutsgarage  4 года назад

      Hi Claudio, I use vegetable oil as lubricant. I believe castor oil is the original recommendation but it is hard to find and expensive. Veg oil seems to work perfectly well. Thanks for watching!
