I wrote a reasonably long story while listening to this ( may I mention, ON LOOP FOR TWO ENTIRE HOURS :/ ) just cuz I was bored soooo, yh- Here it is. TW: threat, implication of death. You finally reach the top of the mountain. It wasn’t very tiring, but you had walked fairly slowly, so it had taken quite a while for you to reach the summit. You amble over to the edge and glance down at the chaos beneath you. Before you is an endless calamity of cobble and glass shards. You did this. You’d let this happen. It was all your fault. The voices in your head just wouldn’t stop. Shedding a tear, you hastily wiped it away and let out a soft sigh. At that moment, a strange force sent you crashing forwards. Just in time, you manage to clasp onto the cliff’s edge, grazing the inside of your palm. Wincing, you snatch a glance upwards and see him, peering down at you and sneering. You grit your teeth, furious, and grip the side with your other hand, too. “Ah, how unfortunate, [name]. You couldn’t keep a team of four together! Four! How pathetic.” He smirks, bending down to your level. “[name]…why did you do this…” You shake your head rapidly and break your gaze with him. “Oh, me? I didn’t do anything!” He chortles, “You said it yourself; it’s all your fault. You let it happen. Yeah, I pulled the trigger, but you couldn’t stop me! Admit it, you’re powerless against me.” “…no. I won’t…g-give up…” You muster under your breath. Spluttering, you speak up, “I w-won’t give in to you a-and your foolish games!” “Foolish?” He scoffs, “You’re one to talk! Honestly…you should really think before speaking. I mean…the look on your face when you saw your friends abandon you was priceless!” “Well…I-I’m sorry, alright?” You…you always b-beat me at everything!” You gasp for breath, “You’re right…I am p-powerless against you. And I’m s-sorry for everything I’ve done t-to you and your troop!” He was startled. Chilled to the spine, he shed a small tear and wouldn’t even glance at you. You’d broken him. “Er…[name]?” He mustered, only just, “A-Are you-…w-why?” “What? What do you m-mean…why?” “Why are you a-apologising?” “W-Well…I just w-want this battle to stop. Please, c-can’t we just…get along…?” Your voice trails off and you gulp. “I…Why should we get along?” He broke out into manic laughter and clasped onto both of your hands tightly. You made an attempt to shake him off but couldn’t. “Huh?! W-We shouldn’t have to fight each other, [name]!” You desperately yelled out, but it was no use. He couldn’t be convinced. “Goodbye, [name]. And if you somehow manage to wake up, just know that none of this land will be yours! I knew you didn’t stand a chance.” He sneered. And with that he ripped your hands from the cliff and let go. i actually think the lyrics for it are, "one day i'll be a hero. until then, it's light out." but the song is just that sentence jumbled the part you're talking about would be, "one day, hero hero- 'til lights out." 'tail lights' makes no sense but the other sentence does!
